That Thing You Do! (1996): Tom Hanks, Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler | No More Late Fees: A 90s & 2000s Movie Rewind Podcast

One hit song, four small-town musicians, and a whole lot of 1960s nostalgia! Does That Thing You Do! (1996) still rock 30 years later? Jackie and Danielle are revisiting Tom Hanks' directorial debut, starring Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler, Steve Zahn, and Ethan Embry. Joining them for his seventh appearance is longtime friend Nick, who's back to help decide whether this beloved '90s musical comedy still deserves a spot in our VHS collections.

From The Wonders' overnight success to the questionable decisions that nearly derail their fame, the trio digs into the music, memorable performances, and surprising character dynamics. Is Jimmy really the villain, or is the record industry the bigger problem? Was Mr. White helping the band or exploiting them? And why does Steve Zahn steal practically every scene? Plus, they're talking about Tom Hanks' casting decisions, the actors learning their instruments, Guy and Faye's romance, the mysteriously nameless bass player, and one very confusing Spartacus reference.

With plenty of laughs, behind-the-scenes trivia, and a fresh perspective on this 1996 favorite, Jackie, Danielle, and Nick put their nostalgia to the test. Will That Thing You Do! earn a coveted "Would Buy It Again" in Ratings Rewind, or has time changed their tune?
