[00:00:00] Hi, maybe y'all should stop bringing your favorite movies to the show. That's right. So we just had that on our show. You texted us. Yeah, but the reason we texted you for this movie is because you told us in a past episode, this was one of your movies you wanted to do. So when it came up on the Rolodex, we said we know who to call. We appreciate it. Yeah.
[00:00:28] We just did a couple like, you know, fan request episodes recently and like all I think three, two of them, three of them. Like three in a row were just like, we didn't like this. We're doing that for November and it's going to be a time. It's called November, which is movies that both Jackie and I have not seen at all.
[00:00:54] And so then we put a bunch of movies we hadn't seen and we put it on Instagram for people to vote. And for some I was like, oh, please pick this one. Right. And it was pretty good, except we got the English patient. I know Jackie's not going to be patient about it. Well, in Starship Troopers, I just. Starship Troopers rules. So cross that off by my recommendation.
[00:01:22] I definitely don't like big bugs. No, thank you. She barely made it through Men in Black. So I can't even imagine. I have like trigger movies that I know I don't really want to like Joe's apartment. Hope we never get there. That'd be a really deep cut to get to Joe's apartment. Danielle's going to be tapping someone in and be like, I'm sick this episode. Yeah. I'm sick.
[00:01:54] Okay. Oh, I didn't even pull up the notes. Did we share the notes? Girl, I'm maybe I should have done the notes. It would have helped me understand what was going on. I think Mike and Mike are going to be doing the heavy lifting. I thought. Oh, my God. Halfway. You don't understand event horizon. It's more of a vibe. Like maybe 15 minutes in the movie. I was like, oh, what's going on?
[00:02:23] Should I rewind? I said, all right, Mike and Mike, you're here. I ain't got to do nothing. I pulled out my sci-fi chronicles book. Event horizon isn't in it. That seems to burn the book. Yeah. Listen. Key text. Yeah. Sci-fi chronicles. And it goes through like every I thought every signed science fiction movie.
[00:02:49] Really, they have a comparison of the size of the different ships from different movies. So I'm like, how big is the event horizon compared to like the 1701D? Like I needed reference points and it wasn't in here. I was like, this doesn't help me at all. Yeah. That's surprising. I feel like it's a big enough movie where it would be in there. It might be more. I mean, it's sci-fi, but it might be like horror and why it wouldn't be in the sci-fi book. But I don't know. Space horror. It is. Yeah.
[00:03:17] It has to the future. It has Predator in it. Like. All right. Then. Yeah. Yeah. Like if aliens in there and predators in there, then it should. Yeah. Right. Stargate. Stargate. Yeah. Yeah. I'm looking forward to Stargate. I thought about that during this movie. I was like, it's giving Stargate, but not good. See, I was not a fan of Stargate. Really? Mike D made me watch that for the podcast a while back. Yeah. I didn't care for it.
[00:03:43] I don't know if I'll still care for it years later because I haven't seen it since it came out. So. Sure. All right. Let's dive into this. Did we share the notes? Oh, I have not seen them. I have not seen them. I will share them right now. Thank you. That's the one thing I'm bad about is sharing them with people.
[00:04:06] Oh, got it. Why? Mike, what's your. I have Mike Smith. Mike, what's your email? Because I know it's not. Is it? It's M Decretio. No. Okay. Hold on.
[00:04:35] No, Mike, that's wrong. What do you know? I found it. You know, it's always hard to tag y'all on social. I guess. I'm like, I'm like, one's a blog, one sandwich. Mike has refused to unify the usernames after 10 years. But now you guys finally have an Instagram for your podcast. That makes it a lot easier, even though you don't really use it. But I'm not going to. I've been trying to.
[00:05:07] We got it. It exists. It's just. Yeah. Step by step. I mean, I might collapse and be shocked if I actually get, I don't know, a trailer. We did last time. We sent you a trailer last time, I think. Didn't we? I don't know. I remember recording it because you called us out last time. We recorded it. I put it up on the feed and I think I sent it to you. I sent it to you. All right. You may have, but I. It's sketch. I'm not sure. That said, that trailer probably is advertised in the Roy Shatter season of the podcast,
[00:05:36] which we're not doing anymore. So maybe it's time for a new one anyways. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I can rerecord one line and just dub out Roy Shatter for Elijah Wood. Yeah. Stay tuned this season for Elijah Wood. Yeah. Yeah. It's just like. All right. You guys ready? Well, did you get the notes? Sorry. Yes. Okay. Oh, got him.
[00:06:02] Two mics, one terrifying spaceship and several travel opportunities that should have come with a much bigger warning label. Welcome aboard because today we're finding out just how questionable our survival instincts really are. Welcome to the No More Late Fees podcast. I'm Jackie. And I'm Danielle. And we're just two best friends and ex-blockbuster employees rewatching some of the best and worst movies from the late 90s and early 2000s. In this bonus episode, we're hanging out with Mike and Mike from Mike and Mike Go to the Movies
[00:06:32] and the Complete Works podcast. Welcome back, guys. Hello. We love when you're here. Hey. Thank you guys so much for having us back. Yeah, of course. What a pleasure. Yeah. Too bad it's welcome to hell. Every time. There are many empty eyeball sockets in this movie. Yeah. Just meat suits. It's an audio medium, so you don't need eyes. We don't need eyes to podcast. Yeah.
[00:07:04] Yeah. Oh, my goodness. So what's new? You guys have a new season. Who are we featuring? Yeah. So, yeah, I guess since last time we were on the podcast, it's been a little over a year, I think. So, well, we started season five of The Complete Works. And now we are doing the films of Elijah Wood, which has been very fun. It's somebody who, you know, every time we do a new season, me and Mike kind of pick out some finalists, pick out some people that we want to feature on the podcast.
[00:07:32] And then we kind of whittle it down to like four favorites, two of Mike's, two of mine. And we let the audience then choose who it's going to be. And I'm totally blank on who the other finalists were, Mike. Who were the other people that Elijah Wood was up against? It was, was it Kristen Stewart? Kristen Stewart was definitely one. Yes. Which I think also would have been a very fun season. I was surprised she didn't win, actually. Yeah. It was Kristen Stewart and Elijah Wood and two others, but they lost. Oh, Benicio Del Toro was one of mine. Right. For sure.
[00:08:03] But yeah, Elijah Wood was somebody who I was really excited about because every year, every time we do a new season, I always pitch somebody who was a child actor first and then became like transition into adult roles. We never, we have never done that. And we got to do that this season. And so, yeah, I think it makes for a little bit more of a unique thing to kind of just see somebody grow up on screen and watch every single one of their movies. And we are in a very exciting time of the podcast right now because we just recorded our Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring episode. We're at Lord of the Rings.
[00:08:31] So yeah, it's happening. For me, I was trying to think like, what is my favorite Elijah Wood movie? And I remember when I was younger, I like had a crush on him. Yeah. Well, you did. Right. Those big baby blues. Yeah. Yeah. But definitely The Good Son. Yeah. That's the first movie that came to my mind as well is The Good Son. Nice. Yeah. We covered The Good Son. Interesting movie. I mean, it's the, it's, we, we talked about that movie as if it's like, that's the De Niro
[00:09:00] and Pacino in heat of child actors. It's Elijah Wood and Macaulay Culkin together at last. Love it. We got it. I mean, like, I think that's what's so difficult is that like, it's almost because they're children. It's, it discredits what amazing actors they were. Yeah. I just think as children, it makes it even that more admirable of their acting skills. Sure.
[00:09:25] Because though, that was streep and Glenn Close. You know what I mean? Absolutely. It was amazing. Yeah. No, definitely. Yeah. That's, I think what was interesting about this season to me again, we get to watch them grow up, but we also, I think the nice thing about Elijah Wood, as opposed to a lot of other child actors, as he grew up, he seems to grow up into a relatively well-adjusted person who is also still making movies and stuff.
[00:09:55] But what's crazy is that, you know, Lord of the Rings happens, hugest movies ever. They're big. It's bombastic. It's a huge, you know, best picture winner, huge financial success, like, you know, culturally redefining the blockbuster landscape for 25 years. And after that, he's mostly like, okay, well, I have enough money now. I'm going to be a weird little guy in a lot of movies. Yeah. And he just pops up in supporting roles in a lot of different stuff. Yeah. It's the same trajectory Daniel Radcliffe does.
[00:10:20] But I, you and I, you and I, because that's all I was thinking about. What do you mean you're a dead person that's strapped to someone's back in a movie? I'm going to see you in it, but okay. Right. And it rules. You're naked on the stage. Right. Yes. With a unicorn. I still don't know what happened in that play. But like, I love how silly and crazy their roles have been since those blockbusters.
[00:10:46] It gives them room to be actors, actors, you know? Yeah. Absolutely. And Elijah, especially just, you know, he has a proclivity for like a lot of horror movies, a lot of genre stuff. He's in the new Toxic Avenger movie, and he's just like in caked in makeup and a bald cap. But he looks like the penguin. And it's very, very fun to see him in that. But then he's also in like Ready or Not 2, and he's a great presence in that movie as well. And so, yeah, he just pops up in a lot of really interesting stuff. He produces a lot of cool horror movies. He produced Mandy. He has a production company where he does that kind of stuff too.
[00:11:17] So, yeah, somebody whose career I've always been a big fan of. And it's been really fun to journey through the podcast with Elijah Wood so far. So, Mike D., anything else about Elijah Wood or if I covered everything? No, no. I think it's interesting. One of the fun things that we kind of talked about or have talked about so far in the season is specifically when he's like a child actor, like, you know, with The Good Son. And he's co-stars with Macaulay Culkin and Thora Birch and like a bunch of other 90s child actors. Joe Mazzello.
[00:11:46] He's like always paired up with somebody of that era too. So, yeah, Joe Mazzello from Jurassic Park and Radio Flyer. You're saying Thora Birch, Mike, and she's in Paradise. Yeah, so this has been a fun thing that we've been charting is like, oh, look, it's also these people. Like, you know, the faculty also is, you know, every, this John Hartnett and Sean Hattesey and, you know. Yeah, Clay DeVall. Yeah, Clay DeVall. So, it's like been really, that's been a, that has been a really fun part. And then now we get to watch Lord of the Rings. So, like, hell yeah. Yeah.
[00:12:16] What have you guys been watching? I mean, like, obviously you're watching a lot of Elijah Wood. But everyday life, what are you watching? What TV shows are you watching? Which movies are you watching recently? Oh, man. So, recently, I just finished Lanterns, which just had its season finale, which was really terrific. The Green Lantern TV show set in the new DCU starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as Jon Stewart. And both are just like pitch-perg performances.
[00:12:45] Great casting created by Damon Lindelof, who created Leftovers and Lost. And, yeah. No, it's just, it's basically, it's such a different take on Green Lantern than I think most people were expecting. Because Green Lantern, you expect big, crazy spaceship adventures. And this is a true detective-style show in, like, the middle of Kansas. And there's very little visual effects. And it rules. It's really, really good. Big fan of that. That just wrapped up its first season.
[00:13:13] And I've been trying to catch up on a lot of stuff because I had a job this past summer, which forced me to not be able to see a ton of movies. And that was killing me. That was just devastating. I basically had one day off every week, Mondays. Because I worked for a baseball team. And so, it was just like anytime there were baseball games, I had to be there. And so, every Monday was my day off. And so, I would just, like, stack going to the theater on top of each other and be, like, two or three movies a day. But recently, I caught up with Blades of the Guardians on Mike D's recommendation.
[00:13:44] Really great martial arts movie directed by Yun Wu Ping, who we covered a lot in the Michelle Yeoh season of our podcast. He directed a lot of her movies and choreographed a lot of great American films like The Matrix and Kill Bill. But, yeah, really terrific martial arts film. I've also been kind of slowly going through the films of Spike Lee, like the ones that I hadn't seen. And so, I finally got to She Hate Me the other night. Which is largely considered one of the weaker Spike Lee movies.
[00:14:12] And I would agree that it is. But there's stuff there. There's stuff there. It's interesting. Summer of Sam. Where is that on the list? Summer of Sam rocks. I'm a huge Summer of Sam fan. I watched that recently. And it's really good. It did make me... I think when I saw the movie, it did make me scared. But I think the reason it did was because my mom was telling me what that blackout was like in that time frame. Yeah. And so, like, having that context made it even scarier for me. Sure.
[00:14:40] I don't know if I'll still feel scared re-watching it. But, yeah. My all-time Spike Lee film is Crooklyn because it's like what I grew up watching. But... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's got quite a bit. Yeah. I mean, that's... It's a project I've been doing, like, kind of on and off for over a year because he has, like, 25 movies. It's a lot to get through. And I'm mostly just going through the ones I haven't seen already. But occasionally re-watching some. Like, Do the Right Thing is always great. I watched Bamboozle for the first time a while back. And that was great. 25th hour A+.
[00:15:11] But, yeah. She Hate Me. Not one of the best. But still interesting. Really early Anthony Mackie performance. And... Whoa. The nice thing about She Hate Me is that Isaiah Whitlock Jr. is in it. And he says, she, like, three times. And... He does the thing. That genuinely bumped it up for two and a half stars, two or three stars for me. It was like, he did it three times. A plus. I'm in. But otherwise... What about Girl 6? I feel like that one's hard to... Because it's not streaming. It's not streaming. I was able to find it through other means.
[00:15:41] But... And actually, I really enjoyed that one. I thought that was really solid. Yeah. That was pretty good. I don't know why it's not streaming. I still don't understand what the hell's going on with that movie. Yeah. Like, more people should see that movie. Yeah. It's very, very good. I think super underrated in the Spike Lee filmography. Also really loved Get On The Bus, which is around that same time, too. Yeah. But yeah, that was great. Other new stuff I saw recently, I finally caught up with Hoppers, the Pixar movie, which is a delight. Big fan of that. Avatar, but rabbits. Beavers, Mike.
[00:16:11] It's Beavers, actually. There may or may not be a rabbit in there. I don't remember. But it's mostly Beavers. But Hoppers is delightful. I saw The History of Concrete this weekend, which is the new film from John Wilson, from How To with John Wilson, which is really great. And I saw Digger, and I'm in the pro-Digger camp. I liked Digger. I've heard good things, surprisingly. Not surprisingly. I think, like, Jackie and I have had this conversation. Is Tom Cruise crazy? Yes. 100%. For sure.
[00:16:40] There's no doubt about it. Yeah. But is he an amazing actor? Yes. Yeah. I think he is. 100. I just think that he, in the last, and you guys have been eating it up, him being in Mission Impossible for, like, 30, 40 years. He was doing it for us. I was like, who's to you guys? And then I was like, oh, Mike and Mike, not me. Yeah, right, yeah. Obviously, Jackie. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's nice to see him stretch as an actor again in this movie.
[00:17:08] And it's such an insane collaboration between him and Alejandro Gonzalez and Aritu, who is such a specific weirdo director as well. I don't think the movie totally works. I've seen some people who really hated it, and I've seen some people who really loved it. I feel like I'm more towards the love side, but not quite as high on it. And for the first, like, half hour, I thought it was actively bad. But it did, it won me over by the end. And I appreciated how big of a swing it was. So, yeah, that's some of what I've been watching. What about you, Mike D?
[00:17:37] Well, the most recent new movie I saw was Resident Evil, the new Resident Evil movie with... Which rocks. It's really good. Yeah, so good. What was that? Did you guys like that? Danielle called me on the way home. She's like, Jackie, I was screaming at the screen. I didn't care who heard me. Yes. The movies. It's happening. Yeah. Yes.
[00:18:05] So, it's a good segue to say what I've been watching. Okay. I saw Resident Evil in the theaters. And everybody who listens to the podcast, watches the podcast, knows I'm Skitty Cat. I know I'm not willingly going to horror films unless I'm being trapped, literally. And I went in blind and I thought, oh, okay, well, the original Resident Evil movies were like nothing. You know, I can do zombie movies.
[00:18:33] And so, I go, my cousin went with me. He loves horror films and stuff like that. And then we sit down and he's like, oh, yeah, the director, Zach, blah, blah, blah. He made weapons. He made... I was like, wait, he made weapons? Yes. Yes. And I know enough about the horror movies because I know to stay away from them because they're too scared.
[00:18:55] And so, it was almost like when you go on a roller coaster and you're scared to go on the roller coaster, but then the things start to come down and you can't get off now. You're committed. That's what it was like. I was very scared. And because I thought this was going to be just a zombie movie. And progressively, I just see body limbs doing cartwheels.
[00:19:24] And I'm like, what's happening? What's going on? The jump scares. Yeah. And I'm just going to say a few words that only you guys who've seen the movie will know. The camper and the foot. Yeah. What a reveal. Yeah. Disgusting. That was so good. That was so good. I'm sorry. I don't want to kill children. You got to do what you got to do. Sometimes.
[00:19:53] What are we talking about? Yeah. The sewer scene. Was that not from Blade 1? Whoa. Right? There's probably some blades. Yeah, absolutely. Okay. Yeah. And that's where I'll leave it. Yeah. Nice. Mike D, did you have any other current watches? Let's see. I haven't really been watching a ton of newer stuff.
[00:20:23] I'll shout out because I just finally finished season one of Widow's Bay. Oh, nice. I watched like a little bit when it was coming out and then something happened. I was watching with some like friends and then it was like, oh, I'm not available. I'm not available. And like, it was like two or three weeks had gone by. And then we're like, oh, it's September. We got to. We never finished that show. And so, yeah, we finished season one of Widow's Bay, which is on Apple, I think. And it's incredible. It's a, you know, horror comedy, comedy horror.
[00:20:51] I don't know which one you'd say first, but it's like, did you guys watch that? Or did you hear about it? I've heard about it, but I haven't seen it. I haven't watched it. And I've been meaning to watch it. It's like my next thing on my list, basically, is Widow's Bay. Just won the Emmy. Best comedy. Yeah. Yeah. Who's the one of the 30 Rock people? Who is the showrunner? The showrunner is Katie Dippold, who used to write for Parks and Recreation. Parks and Recreation. That's all you had to say. Yeah.
[00:21:18] So it's also, if you've ever seen the meme online of like the person who's dressed as the Babadook, but like the Halloween costume party is like not actually, it's more of a adults drinking wine party, but there's a person dressed as the Babadook. She's the one dressed as the Babadook. It was her. Yeah. Yeah. It's like if the mayor from Jaws was the mayor of like a Stephen King town, basically, is like the setup of the show. And it's wonderful. It's really funny, really scary, like perfect blend.
[00:21:46] So I'm really excited for whenever season two comes out because it did get renewed. Thank God. But yeah, so that's really what I've been watching. Nice. Nice. Did you guys see that they're making a, it looks like a TV show, but it's based on the mom from Friday the 13th movies? Yeah. Crystal Lake is the new show with Linda Cardellini as Jason's mom. Yeah. And I'm curious about it. It's the first like new Friday the 13th stuff in like 15 years. So that's cool. I'm curious.
[00:22:16] Yeah. That's all I am. Yeah. You know, I get to watch Linda Cardellini slash up some teens for eight episodes. I'm in. That's all I got. That's all I got. I don't care if she's Jason's mom or not. She could be playing Lindsay from Freaks and Geeks. That's okay. Uh, well, besides Resident Evil, what else am I watching? Nothing in English. That's for sure. Um, I've been watching again.
[00:22:42] Um, I've actually watched two, uh, Chinese dramas back to back. One was called The Early Spring. I think I told you this, Jackie. It was giving Fifty Shades of Grey, but not as bad. No. Um, but also not as dirty. It's as, as Fifty Shades of Grey, you'll get on a C drama. Yeah. Because, you know, if they hold their hands, it's like, oh my God, I'm coming. Scandalose though. Yeah.
[00:23:09] Um, so I watched that and, uh, now I can't remember the other one I watched and trying to think if there's anything else. I've also been teetering back between season one of adults and, uh, there was something else I was watching. Oh, um, Ted Lasso season four, which I don't know. Like usually the first three seasons I was eating them up like crack and I made it through
[00:23:36] the first episode and I haven't gone back yet. I will do it because I hear that like it gets, it starts moving. Yeah. Yeah. I've, I'm in episode seven now of Ted Lasso. I know the season finale as we're recording this just aired last night. So I'm a few episodes behind. Um, but I've been enjoying the season for the most part. I do think the first episode's a little rough. Uh, because the first episode is just then having to be like, okay, we got to get him back to England somehow. Let's get it like, let's get him back.
[00:24:03] Uh, and so it mostly takes place in Kansas and it feels a little off once they're back. It's, you know, it's, it's better. Yeah. Um, and then the last thing I'm, I was watching is the new, a different world, um, reboot. And that's been really good. Nice. Especially if like you watched a different world. Did you guys watch a different world back in the day? Yeah. I've definitely seen an episode or two and like Nick at night, but it wasn't, uh, that I have not seen it. Hmm. Okay. Well, you know, different houses. Yeah.
[00:24:35] No, but I really, really like it, especially like, I think it's good for people who never watched the original and for people who did, it's just like a good mix. What about you, Jackie? Um, well, I just got back from a two and a half week road trip. And so we powered through almost three dungeon crawler curl audio books. Uh, so that was our entertainment.
[00:25:01] Uh, and it's literally like every time my husband and I get in the car, it's like dungeon crawler car all the time, like put it on and we're only allowed to listen to it in the car and when we're together. So it's been, it's been a ride. Highly entertaining. And the hardest part is trying to explain to other people, the premise of the book without them looking at you. Like you're insane. As I have many a times that you bring it up. I'm like, I don't know what she's talking about. Yeah.
[00:25:31] Like every person I know is reading these books right now. Um, and I'm on, uh, like, you know, I'm up to like 18 week wait on the library. So like, I'll get there eventually. Like my next year I'll be reading them. Well report back. Yes. Um, I have new chat groups with like coworkers. That's just like the donut holes. And we just send each other. Take talks and reels and memes that are dungeon crawler.
[00:25:59] Carl, um, our friends that we visited, uh, sent us window decals. We are fully in like immersed in dungeon crawler. Carl, but movie wise. Um, the other night I was in the room while, uh, Lord of the Rings, two towers was on. I did not watch it. Bummer. Your life would have been improved if you had watched two tower. This makes everything better.
[00:26:29] Yeah. And then last night I went and saw Verity because I am a glutton for punishment. Colleen Hoover is horrible. I agree. Yeah. And I just, I needed to experience how bad it was going to be. I don't know why I just had to. I just feel like, okay, go ahead.
[00:26:51] First off, there were too many people in the theater to have the appropriate responses, which is just like laughing out loud the whole time. Okay. Okay. Because the, everything was just wrong. The dialogue was wrong. The, the plot like made no fucking sense.
[00:27:09] Like, even at the end, I was like, I know what you're going for, which is like, you're supposed to be like deep in thought of like, what is the real reason for the movie? But like, you just can't care at all about anything. Yeah.
[00:27:30] It felt like Anne Hathaway knew she was in a shitty movie and was just camping it up as much as she possibly could. Dakota Johnson just thought she was in a comedy and just deadpanned and was like sarcastic about every line she delivered. And then Josh Hartnett, like he was good in it. It was just like, oh, buddy, you could have chosen a much better movie. I just think my boy's getting his paycheck.
[00:28:00] Back in the day, he was trying to stand on business and was talking about like wanting to be an actor. Yeah. Right. From a harbor of Josh Hartnett. Yeah. And he took a break. Fine. But now he's like, I gotta get this cash. Yeah. I love to act, but I gotta make my money. He was in Oppenheimer a couple years ago. Real movie. True. There's that. It's not all one thing.
[00:28:26] Like he's getting his bag and he's doing it in different ways and I'm not mad at it. But this Colleen Hoover crap, I'm like, how are they getting... She's not a good writer. I have seen both movies. Is that who wrote the book? There's more than two. There's like four of them. There's the one with Allison, what's her face? Where her... Oh, Allison Williams, right. Yeah. Her husband and her sister were getting it on and then die. And then she finds out... I'm spoiling it. Sorry. Many such cases.
[00:28:55] Pretty sure it's all in the trailer. I think I remember that. Yeah. Yeah. Then she finds out Dave Franco, her sister's baby daddy, isn't the baby daddy. Her husband is. Yeah. And then her daughter's acting a fucking fool because she didn't know her daddy was a philanthropist with her auntie the hoe. And I hear it sucked. I didn't need to know that because I saw the trailer. And what more do I need to see the movie about?
[00:29:21] The chemistry between Allison Williams and Dave Franco didn't look good, so I wasn't going for that. And I just feel like there's a Venn diagram between these horrible shitty books and then all these actors who are just trying to get a cash grab because all the studios don't want anything new and need IP. So they're making these horrible romance movies, books into movies where there's really good romance books out there that should be movies. But then, oh, they're just getting this trash. Yeah.
[00:29:49] And then the Venn diagram is between that and Taylor Swift fans. Somehow they're crossing over with this movie franchise situation. And I'm like, how is this happening? How? No, I get it. I mean, it really feels very similar to when every six months there was a new Nicholas Sparks movie. Yes. Which he's coming back. M. Night Shyamalan's making a Nicholas Sparks movie next year. Which the trailer for that looks pretty good. Remain. I'm going to see it. Looks pretty good. I'm going to see it.
[00:30:18] I'm going to see that. I think it's going to be a weird collaboration. Jake Gyllenhaal is going to star in it. He's always weird. So I think it's going to be fun. Cool. But yeah, I actually went to go see Verity this weekend too. Oh, okay. What did you think? Not really of my own accord. A woman dragged you. My girlfriend took me. Yeah. I have not read any of the Colleen Hoover books. I have not seen the other Colleen Hoover movies. So I can't really attest to how good or bad those are necessarily. I did not think this was great.
[00:30:46] But it reminded me a little bit of a movie that I did actually like a lot more in a very trashy, campy way. Which I think if this movie was to be good, that's the kind of vibe that you should go for. But it reminded me of The Housemaid. Which I don't know if you guys saw that. And it's very similar in terms of its plot and its structure and the performances. And all that kind of stuff. But The Housemaid I think really succeeds at being very trashy, campy fun. And I think part of that is that Amanda Seyfried is really going for it in that movie. She's great in it.
[00:31:15] But yeah, this one just felt like it was moving at a much slower pace. The Housemaid had twists every 10 minutes. And that was really fun about it. And Verity does not. It has a couple of twists that happen throughout. And they kind of just sort of fall flat on their face a little bit. And two jump scares. And they're toting it as like this psychological thriller. It's going to have people on the edge of their seats. My favorite part of the whole movie was when my friend's husband got up to go to the bathroom.
[00:31:44] And his recliner chair made farting noises the whole time. It's sad. And I was like crying, trying to hold in my laughter because the movie was so – I was so disinterested in the movie at one point. I had one moment where – there's a moment where there's almost like a weird self-aware joke about Dakota Johnson's acting style. Who is somebody that I kind of like in the right role. I think Dakota Johnson can be good in certain movies. Like Splitsville last year she was really great in.
[00:32:13] But yeah, there's a moment where she jokes like that she has resting board face. Yes. And it's just like, oh yeah, that's just Dakota Johnson. That's what I – Is this like an apology for her performance in the movie or what's going on here? There were some – and I'm probably just going to spoil shit at this point because nothing – no one should go see this movie at all.
[00:32:36] There were some very interesting acting choices that Dakota Johnson made to the point where like she has to be just fucking with the audience. Like she pours creamer in her coffee and then stirs it with her finger and then just like sucks her finger. Like what are you doing? Or she would just like have a spoon like resting on her lips while delivering dialogue. And it's like you have to be doing this on purpose at this point. Yeah.
[00:33:06] I think it's purposeful. I think they are trying to go for like that trashy kind of romance thing. And it doesn't land especially. Which is a bummer. I do want to shout out Michael Showalter directed this movie who – What? Is Coop from White House of American Summer. And one of my favorite comedic actors. I know, right, Mike? That's insane. You just blew my mind. I guess I have to become a Verity stan. I guess that's it. Yeah. I mean he hasn't really appeared on screen in a long time.
[00:33:34] He mostly directs movies like Verity now which is kind of a bummer. But yeah, wanted to shout him out. So my question, Mike, your girlfriend, why did she want to see this movie? I think she likes – she has read some of the Colleen Hoover books. She likes the books. I remember she went to go see It Ends With Us, which I was not dragged to. That was like the first one. That was like the first movie at least, right? That was the big one. And that was the Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni one which resulted in all the stuff afterwards and everything like that.
[00:34:05] Yeah, I'm not sure if she's seen the other ones because there's been like two or three after that and before this one, right? Because there was the Allison Williams one. There was like another one about somebody who died or whatever. A lot of people who died. There was a car accident and she was pregnant. That one. Oh, yes. With Tyreek Withers was in it. Yeah. Yeah. And she like falls in love with her dead husband's brother when she gets out of jail or something. I saw it all in the trailer. I remember. I remember.
[00:34:31] So there was it's it ends with us in 2016. Verity, which just came out. There's one called The Regretting You is the one with Allison. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. Okay. And then Reminders of Him, which is the one where she goes to jail and comes back out or whatever. Yeah. And then, you know, that's it. That's it.
[00:35:00] I think what made me a little more interested in this one is that it was being sold as more of an erotic thriller as opposed to those ones which were very clearly like this is your chick flick date movie, sappy romance, Colleen Hoover books sort of thing. This felt like it was going to be a little bit different. No, they keep doing a bait and switch. You have a domestic violence movie and you're like, bring your girls, bring your flowers, bring your bouquets.
[00:35:24] Well, and in this in Verity, there's like a part I'm assuming they thought was sexy and was not like one of the parts where like people actually audibly laughed was like there were bite marks in the headboard from Verity and Hathaway's character. And then when Lohan Dakota Johnson's character is having sex with Josh Hartnett, she bites the headboard in the same location.
[00:35:53] But it's a really weird close up shot of just teeth and wood. Like it is so fucking bizarre. And I'm just like, I hate it here. And I did this to myself. Mike, is your girlfriend a Taylor Swift fan as well? You know it. Yeah. It all comes back to the Swifties. It's all adding up because I don't know any other of my friends that went to go see this movie except Jackie.
[00:36:24] Yeah. And that's because none of my other friends like Taylor Swift. Fair enough. The diagram. I think you're right. You're onto something. Yeah. Because, okay. And I hate that I even know this. The first one we know it's because of Blake Lively and the BFFs. And did Taylor do a song for that movie? I have no idea. I think there was a Taylor song in that. So that was one.
[00:36:49] Then this new one, Dakota is in her new music video, which is the music video not kind of similar to the plot of this fucking movie. It is. I had that thought as I was watching Verity. And Taylor Swift was on SNL this past weekend. And Dakota Johnson's monologue. That was there too. Which? So. Speak around to something. I think, yeah. I think you caught it. Yeah. It's the mediocre movie.
[00:37:17] And then Taylor Swift and the fans. And that's all I'm going to say. My tears ricochet was in It Ends With Us. I'll just say. So. What do we got next? What is our game? Okay. So our game is Would You Horde This Shit? Now that we've spent 20 minutes on Verity. It really deserves more. Yeah. Than what we gave it. So our game is Would You Board This Ship? So.
[00:37:49] I'm going to give you some very questionable destinations from movies in our time frame. Tell me, are you boarding or are you staying home? And for most of them, it's like you get something foregoing. So the first one is a trip to Isla Nebula. You get a free vacay. But the fences start acting weird. Okay. That's tough. So free vacation to Isla Nebula.
[00:38:18] Fences are acting up. I don't know. I think I'd make it through Jurassic Park. I think I could. Same. I think I'd be fine. Stay in the Jeep. You'll be fine. I'm not going. There's no fucking way. Their vision are based on movement. Just don't move. Yeah. Dinosaurs. That's one of them. I would definitely be like, yo, these white people are crazy. You heard there's an island girl that they're going to with dinosaurs? Nah, ain't for me.
[00:38:47] There ain't no way. I'd end up like the family on the yacht in the beginning of Lost World. I'd just get eaten by the compies. So our next one is The Truman Show. So a million dollars, but your entire life is televised for a year. Hard yes. That'd be fine. A million? That's all? Yeah. That's what I was going to say. No. It's a lot more than I currently have in my bank account. That's my thought. I was like, I'm not really that interesting.
[00:39:18] To be flipped for an entire year? I'm very interested. I would become very popular. If they were to tape my life for an entire year, they'd be watching me watch a lot of movies. Would be basically. You'd probably do wonders for the podcast, honestly. Exactly. Yeah, there you go. Would we have rights to say what can and cannot be? Do we have a certain amount of editorial perspective?
[00:39:44] No, I think it's strictly The Truman Show where there's the men in black mind blinky thing. You don't know. You're in a simulation. So even when you're having sex? I guess. Oh my God. I mean, that's in The Truman Show, I'm pretty sure. You see that. It's not like making OnlyFans. Yeah. No. I'm going to say no. I think it's going to be tough to make a million dollars on OnlyFans. I think this is the easier way to do it. I agree.
[00:40:14] So much competition in OnlyFans. This is like a dedicated network that's just you. And really, how many people are watching me? I think people will get bored of The Mike Show. Yeah. Or the cinephiles would watch it because they would get free access to whatever movie I'm watching. Right. Like, oh, he's watching Morbeth and Carly Air on the Criterion channel? Cool. Watching a movie through someone else watching it on their TV screen. Like, hell yeah. Yeah. It's like watching someone else's screen on an airplane.
[00:40:44] Yeah. Like, oh, that guy's watching Two Towers. Reading the subtitles so you're watching it. Yeah. So next up, we have a free house in Sunnydale. Oh, God. Yeah. Sunnydale, I would say no. Just because I've watched all of Buffy. I've watched all of Angel. Angel's in Los Angeles. But yeah, Mike D's never watched this. I don't think he knew that Sunnydale was Buffy. Well, I was going to say, this is the Buffy town, right? Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you do have Buffy and her friends out there, like, you know, protecting people and stuff.
[00:41:13] However, people die in almost every episode of the show. Like, it's just like, you know, random passersby who live in Sunnydale get killed by vampires or other monsters pretty frequently. So I would say no to Sunnydale. How long do you have to be there? Danielle looks like she's floating in space. We were just going to power through it. Yeah. So Jackie bought me this thing to put under my laptop, right?
[00:41:42] And I was like, oh, great. This will give me some heightened whatever. And this shit is just like, shloop, shloop. Or like, it's no, it's not you. It's like, maybe it's just too top heavy. I don't know. Yeah. Don't touch it. Sunnydale, surprisingly going against all of my black instincts, I would say, hell yes, because you know I love Buffy. I love you. I want to hang out with Giles. I would be just watching. I would be like, yo, my girl's in action today.
[00:42:12] That's it. Yeah. If I was like hanging out with Buffy, I think I'd be a little, I would feel a little safer, especially if I just go to the bronze. The bronze is really cool. I'll get to a cool club with a lot of cool underground 90s artists playing all the time. Yeah. So that's rad. Yeah. But I do think the mortality rate in Sunnydale is way too high to. Yeah. I don't want to be in her. Like, I don't want to be friends with her because people do die around her. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. It's real scary. Frequently. Yeah.
[00:42:40] And then every, every week she's asking her friends to like help her vanquish demons and vampires. I'm like, um, Buffy girl, I gotta get these grades up. Yeah. I gotta study this. Sunnydale is falling apart. I know this is your calling. It's not mine. You know? Right. How about a million dollars to spend the year with, uh, Bud and Doyle inside the biodome? Whoa. Absolutely not. The snack wasn't more good enough.
[00:43:10] Uh, that's tricky because a, uh, a million dollars. Great. And you know, all about that. You do have to hang out with Pauly Shore for a year. That's tough. That's a big ask. I would probably, I mean, I feel like the biodome is big enough where I could just stay in my room and only come out when I need to. Yeah. Sure. They're the type of guys that will not leave you alone. They know no boundaries. True.
[00:43:37] And they'd be like, Jackie, what's going on? Like, they would bother you all the time. Hey, buddy. He's doing the weasel thing. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. No way. Yeah. I'd have to be like the professor that, like, finds the bunker in the, the air vent. I knew you were missing that. If we can bring weed into the biodome, I think I could make it a year. Oh, I'm sure, I'm sure Pauly Shore is bringing weed to the biodome. Well then, yeah. It's great. We'll be fine. How about a million to finish the game Jumanji?
[00:44:09] That's like guaranteed death though. That is true. Or you risk getting sucked into the game for 20 years. Yeah. That's also tricky. Yeah. I, I think I would probably pass on Jumanji. I don't think I could do it. Uh, it's, you know, I mean, there's a chance that you could make it through the game without horrible things happening. Uh, but what part of the movie Jumanji gave you that impression? There's gotta be like a couple of free spaces on the board or whatever.
[00:44:38] It's like, Oh, root beer. Oh, neat. Yeah. There's a great, uh, there's a really good SNL sketch from a few years ago with Kristen Wig, uh, when she was hosting, that's, uh, her like with people at a house or whatever. And it's like, Oh, we're going to play a board game. It's called ticket to ride. And she refuses because she's afraid of being Jumanji. That's really bad. It just becomes a whole argument between the characters. It's like, what even is Jumanji to you lady? Cause if you might in Jumanji, Jumanji comes out, one guy gets sent in, but the rest of the game is Jumanji comes out of Jumanji.
[00:45:09] Very good. I don't know if we lost Danielle or I'm still here. Okay. Oh, that was creepy. Yeah. It was. No head. Um, and lastly, the ultimate offer 10 million to spend one hour alone aboard the event horizon. I'm going to just say this. You might as well give me that money right now because we are living in event horizon.
[00:45:38] This hellscape we're living in, in 2026 in America is event horizon. Is the event horizon. Correct. I think, uh, I think the conscious ship would, uh, would recognize my chill vibes and friendly nature and leave me alone. Yeah. He's cool. I think that's true. I mean, I think, uh, you know, worst that happens is your eyes get sucked out or whatever, you know, that's true.
[00:46:03] Or you just get sucked into like the bowels of hell where you're wrapped in barbed wire. Yeah. Uh, I think 10 million, if I could, $10 million, do I have to be like in the middle of the ship? Like, do I have to like dive into the depths of event horizon or could I like hang by the exit for an hour? I would think you would have to be in like, like either like the, the captain's deck or like the sick bay or something. I have to be in one of the rooms that's covered in blood. Okay. You'd have to be in the nightmare rooms.
[00:46:34] Right. Uh, okay. Yeah. I mean, uh, yeah, I think I'm, I'm with my tea. We're both pretty chill guys. And the ship would recognize that $10 million is easy. I'm not going to event horizon. I want no part of that. One of, and we'll talk about it. One of my favorite parts of the movie is when Lawrence Fishburne is watching like the video of the old crew dying and it stops and it's just like, well, we're leaving. I'd be like Cooper.
[00:47:02] Like, let me fix things on the outside of the ship. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I have a question for all of us. Sorry. Yeah. Sorry for the pause. What horror movie do you think you could actually survive? Woof. That's tough. I have my answer. I have it ready. What is it? Okay. What is it? Scream one? Cause there were no black people. So I'm definitely surviving.
[00:47:32] So you wouldn't even be there. Nobody would even pay any attention. You'd be in the next town over just doing something else. Yeah. Definitely surviving. Yeah. You're not shown up like the white boys house party. No. With a killer on the loose. No. First of all, my family would have packed it up. What are you talking about? There's like all these murders. Gone. Yep.
[00:48:01] I think, uh, similarly, uh, I would say back rooms would be one that I would survive because I just wouldn't go in the back rooms. I feel like, well, I feel like that's not in the spirit of the question. I feel like I would check out the back rooms and then I'd be like, all right, well, I'm not pursuing this any further. I got to walk through this wall. No, thanks. Uh, yeah. Maybe I'll try to think of something else. Back rooms is currently my answer. Uh, unless I think of something before Mike D's done. Oh man. I don't know. I can't really think of anything.
[00:48:30] My first one was jaws. First thing that came to mind. Cause I think I would not get eaten by a shark. Um, get your ass out of the ocean. Yeah. Come on. Real chief roadie energy right there, Mike. I am a New York boy. Don't put me out on the, on the ocean. Like, uh, but, but yeah, I don't know. I, I also thought of that movie whistle. You guys think it's ever seen that movie whistle from last year or this year or whatever
[00:48:56] with, um, who was the, the, the Daphne Keene, I think. Right. Is from Logan. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, they find like an ancient Aztec like whistle and when you blow it, you die. And it's the same thing. It's like, well then stop blowing the whistle. Like why are you all doing this? I don't understand. Yeah. Uh, unless too short comes out and then you're just following his instructions. That is right. Uh, I'm going to change my answer. I think it, I would survive it. I'd be okay with it. Cause you have no fears. Exactly.
[00:49:27] Exactly. Uh, no, I just, I'm not that scared of clowns. So I think I'd be fine. I don't think Pennywise could affect me that much. RIP Tim Curry. Yeah. How about you, Jackie? My first inclination is I would thrive locked into a mall. So from dusk till dawn. Or not from dawn of the dead. Dawn of the dead. Sorry. You could probably survive locked in a saloon like from dusk till dawn also. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Like vampires.
[00:49:57] I feel like saying like you just need to load up on silver bullets and wooden sticks and then, and some garlic and you're fine. Yeah. I mean, you could have survived sinners if you didn't invite the vampires at the end. Right. Yeah. Yeah. I would just become a vampire. I think honestly, just take me now. Like, actually, this is kind of, it seems kind of sick. Yeah. They're all hanging out in the back, uh, doing Irish jigs. Like it seems pretty funny. Yeah. Like something seems sus out there. I'm going to stay right here.
[00:50:27] I'm never falling for white supremacy. Not even if it's in a vampire form. Okay. Not the sinners ones. God. Yeah. Fair enough. The underworld ones. I want to hang out with Kate Beckett. The underworld vampires. Yeah. Well, now it's time to put y'all back in the hot seat for your employee piss. Quick rundown of previous recommendations.
[00:50:53] Mike D, you had The Mummy, Mute Witness, Sexy Beast, The Matrix, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Lone Star, Event Horizon, and 28 Days Later. Nice. And Mike S, Hero, Star Trek First Contact, Bamboozled, Matrix Reloaded, AI, Artificial Intelligence, Party Girl, Collateral, Ronin, and Snake Eyes. So what are you recommending for our audience this time around? That's crazy. Looking at my list, I'm like, this is, that's me.
[00:51:22] That's like my personality. Like that's insane. Yeah. And it's funny because I was like, I think I've already done The Mummy. I don't think I could use that again. Yeah. Whereas my list, you can tell like I didn't know this was going to happen. And so like I, it's clearly me scrambling through my letterbox to see what I watched recently. Yeah. Yeah. But this time I prepared. Mike D, remind me. Yeah. Yes. Yes. So I wasn't sure.
[00:51:46] First, I was like, what if I do like three, like, like, like transportation, like ship, Navy, like speed. Like speed? Yeah. Well, that's speed because I think that's, is that outside the. That's 94. That's 94. That's 94. Speed 2. You guys have a pretty extensive list. So you can go outside the time frame. Or if you want to challenge yourself, you can stay in. Yes.
[00:52:12] Well, so then I ended up, I was looking at my letterbox sorting by year and I was looking at movies that also came out in 1997, like Event Horizon. And I was like, this is a pretty baller year. 99 gets like all the, all the spotlight. Sure. And 97 is also really great. It's got the Lost World Jurassic Park in it. Got the Lost World. I should fuck. God, wait, I got to cross these out. So I wanted three movies also from 1997. The first is Cube. Yes. Yes.
[00:52:41] Which I saw for the first time, just like, oh, actually, I didn't see Event Horizon for the first time in a theater at like a movie marathon thing. But I saw Cube for the first time in a theater at a movie marathon thing. And I think it was at one of the Alba draft houses. And it was awesome. Like, you know, mystery marathon. It's, you know, people trapped wake up in a cube, the titular cube. Yeah. And they have to try to escape. They don't, they don't have, they all have amnesia. None of them know why they're all there. And they have, you know, potentially connected histories and all this stuff.
[00:53:10] And it's a big, like, horror, horror mystery thriller. And that was a lot of fun. And then my next movie is, I know, also a Mike Smith fave, but it's Breakdown. Hell yeah. Starring Kurt Russell, which is incredible. Who's the wife in Breakdown? Do you remember, Mike? I should have written it down. Yeah, I'll look that up. It's been a while since I watched it. But it's Kurt Russell and his wife are on a road trip through the southwest, the desert, and their car breaks down.
[00:53:40] And their friendly local stops to help them out. And it's like, well, I'll take your wife to the truck stop down the road. And we'll come right back. And hours go by and she never comes back. And so now it's Kurt Russell has to track them down and figure out what happened to his wife. And it turns into a whole, well, no, we never saw that lady come through here, mister. And it's the whole big thing to unravel what happened to his wife. Yeah. Kathleen Quinlan from Apollo 13 is the life of the movie. Wasn't she also in Event Horizon? Am I making that up? Actually, yeah.
[00:54:10] I think you're right. Oh, she is. Yeah. I think that's why I was like, maybe I should make Breakdown. There she is. Yeah. And then my third movie is The Edge with Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins, which is a survival wilderness movie. I think Alec Baldwin is like a rich guy. And I forget the whole thing. But they're playing crashes in Alaska. And it's, you know, Anthony Hopkins is like a wilderness survival kind of guy. And he's got to get Alec Baldwin out. And it's all. Maybe it's the other way around.
[00:54:40] I forget. But it's really awesome. It's really fun. It's been a while since I've seen it, though. So The Edge. Excellent. All right. Cool. And then for my list. So I was trying to pick movies that I could relate to Event Horizon in some way. Originally, I was like, all right, I'm going to do one Lawrence Fishburne. I'm going to do one Jeff Goldblum. And I'll do one like space or not Jeff Goldblum. Sam Neill, the other Jurassic Park guy. And I'll do like one space horror. And then I picked three movies. And then I realized they were all outside of the 95 to 2005 range.
[00:55:09] So those movies would have been deep cover, In the Mouth of Madness and Sunshine. But for so once I realized that, I switched it up. And so just three movies that I felt I could connect to Event Horizon in some way. And the first of which is The Descent from 2005, directed by Neil Marshall, who kind of later became known for directing a lot of the big Game of Thrones battle episodes.
[00:55:33] But The Descent is a horror movie that is also about a group of people kind of exploring unknown depths and discovering something evil and sinister the further they go into it. And it's about a group of women who are on a cave diving trip. And so it's a very claustrophobic movie. And the first half of the movie, it's just like them going further and further into the caves. And then maybe there's something down there. You know, maybe there's something creepy down there. And stuff gets real brutal real fast.
[00:56:02] And it's a really terrific horror movie. So, yeah, The Descent is my first pick. My second pick is a movie that we actually covered recently on The Complete Works because Elijah Wood is in it. And that is The Faculty, directed by Robert Rodriguez, which is so much fun. This I picked because it is, you know, also a sci-fi horror comedy sort of thing. It exists in that kind of weird realm like Event Horizon where there's a lot of different things happening within The Faculty.
[00:56:31] But this movie is directed by Robert Rodriguez, but also written by Kevin Williamson, who wrote Scream. And this is essentially Kevin Williamson doing for Alien Invasion movies what he did for Slashers in Scream. It's very self-aware. It's very like kind of taking on that entire genre of movie. It's got a great, incredible cast. Like Mike D mentioned before, it's Elijah Wood, but it's also Jordana Brewster and Josh Hartnett and Clea Duvall and Sean Hattese from The Pit. And that's just the teens. Also ushers in this movie. Yeah. Which is very fun. With a last name. Yeah, it's Usher Raymond.
[00:57:01] He's there. But then all the adults are like, oh, it's Robert Patrick. And it's B.B. Neuwirth. And it's Piper Laurie and Salma Hayek and so many incredible people in there, too. So The Faculty is so much fun. And like Event Horizon, it's very, very goopy. And I appreciate that about it as well. And then my third pick is another space movie. This one much more of a comedy. And that is Galaxy Quest from 1998.
[00:57:29] Directed by Dean Parasat, who also directed the third Bill and Ted movie a few years back. But Galaxy Quest rules. Just a really fun space adventure comedy. Riffing on Star Trek. And arguably better than most of the Star Trek movies. And I like a lot of the Star Trek movies. But Galaxy Quest is just so good that it kind of rises above. If it were a Star Trek movie, it would be top three. No question to me. It's really great. Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell in a very early role. Tony Shalhoub.
[00:57:58] Just a really great cast. Really, really funny. And a really great riff on Star Trek. So yeah, Galaxy Quest, my number three. Nice. All amazing picks. Jackie and I love Galaxy Quest. And if you love The Cube and The Faculty, we have covered those movies. So definitely check them out on the podcast. And next week, we're heading into the woods. Oh, I skipped something, sorry. Yeah, I scrolled down too fast.
[00:58:29] And Mike and Mike, why don't you guys tell everybody where they can find you on social media so they can follow along? Sure. Mike D, do you want to start since you always start on our podcast? We got to do the pattern the same way we do it. Exactly the same. Yeah. We only remember if we do it in the same order. Exactly. Yes, you can find us on, you can find me on Letterboxd and Blue Sky at MD Film Blog. You can find the show on Blue Sky and Instagram at CompleteWorksPod.
[00:58:58] And we got Birch. We got a Ko-fi page. You know, come to the socials. We got links. You'll figure it out. Yeah, absolutely. We've all been on the internet. Yeah. You can find me at MSmithFilmBlog on Twitter and Blue Sky, Radio Mike Sandwich on Instagram, Mike Smith Film on Letterboxd. And as Mike D said, we do have a Ko-fi page, ko-fi.com slash Mike and Mike Pods. And that is where you can go to make a donation to the podcast. Any donation we really appreciate. But if you donate $50 or more, you get to pick a topic for an episode.
[00:59:26] You get to just pick anything that you want us to watch, which is how we did a lot of recent stuff. Undercover Blues was a recent Ko-fi donation episode. We recently watched Remo Williams' The Adventure Begins for a Ko-fi donation episode. We'd like to watch a good movie. That's our challenge. So if people could donate and pick something good, that'd be great. But yeah, donate $50 and we will watch whatever you want. Or you can pick a topic. It's not exclusive to just picking a movie.
[00:59:55] We've also done Let's Rank the Muppet movie as a Ko-fi donation topic before and all that stuff. So yeah, that's where you can find us. And you can find us at NoMoreLateFees on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, Blue Sky, all the things. We're really trying to get to 1,000 subscribers on the YouTube. Please help us get there. We're almost – we're so close. We're so close.
[01:00:20] And next week we're heading into the woods with really the Blair Witch Project. Ooh. Oh, man. This must be a rough time of year for you, Danielle. If you're not a horror movie fan, this is kind of rough. It's so hard. Bring a camcorder. Leave a trail of breadcrumbs. And maybe don't stand in the corner. And as always, be kind and rewind. And Rewind. you
