9 Best School Dance Scenes in Teen Movies

Get ready to bust a move and swap bodies in this bonus episode of No More Late Fees! This week, Danielle and Jackie welcome back their dear friend Bria to dive into the world of teen dance scenes, body swap movies, and nostalgic 90s/2000s classics. From ranking the most iconic school dance moments to dreaming up the ultimate body swap casting, the crew brings the laughs, the hot takes, and a whole lot of Blockbuster energy. Plus, Bria shares her employee picks, featuring a mini-theme that pays tribute to classic switcheroo flicks—because what’s better than a little cinematic identity crisis? But that’s not all—football feuds, Beyoncé ticket struggles, and Super Bowl shade make their way into the conversation, proving that no topic is off-limits when these three get together. Whether you’re reminiscing about your favorite dance floor showdowns or just here for the hilarious pop culture tangents, this episode is packed with the kind of chaotic fun that keeps listeners coming back. So, grab your popcorn (and maybe a voodoo doll if you're feeling spicy), and join us for another wild ride through movie memories and Blockbuster dreams! — No More Late Fees  https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com 909-601-NMLF (6653) — Follow Us on Social: Instagram https://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees  TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees  Facebook https://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefees Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees  Twitter https://x.com/NoMoreLateFees  — CONQUERing myconquering.com 10% Off Code: JACKIE10 — NostaBeauty https://nostabeauty.com  20% Off Code: NMLF — Previous Episodes Chicago Tales and Nudity Equality with Bria https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/chicago-tales-and-nudity-equality-with-bria Two Can Play That Game https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/two-can-play-that-game Our Favorite Brad with Role Call https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/our-favorite-brad-with-role-call Se7en https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/se7en Pregaming with the Ladies of Role Call Podcast https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/pregaming-with-the-ladies-of-role-call-podcast Love and Basketball https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/love-and-basketball

[00:00:00] Get ready to bust a move and swap bodies. In this bonus episode, we're ranking our favorite teen dance scenes, hearing Bria's employee picks, and casting our dream 90s-2000s body swap movie. For this podcast, I'm Jackie.

[00:00:29] And I'm Danielle, and we're just two best friends and ex-blockbuster employees re-watching some of the best and worst movies from the late 90s and early 2000s. And this week, we are super excited to have our dear friend Bria back. Hello. We were just telling Bria that she's real close to all-star status. So how are things? You're surviving on the West Coast?

[00:00:56] I am, yes. Luckily, I'm in Northern California. Not that we're exempt from fires, but yeah, this so far, we're fine. But fire season is coming, so yeah, I'm fine. I'm just basking in like, I'm alive and everything's going to hell around us. But yeah. Did you watch the Super Bowl?

[00:01:20] I did watch the Super Bowl, which I actually paid attention to the game this year because I was like, I want Jalen Hurts to get all the things. So damn fine. If you want to hear more on our deep dive on the Super Bowl and hear more clips like this. Green was actually a good color for him because you know what he was all up in? That grass. The whole thing.

[00:01:44] Become a No More Late Fees bestie by heading to patreon.com slash no more late fees and check out the rest of this clip and so many more bonus features. Let's get into the game. All right. We have a game. Obviously, we did Wish Upon a Star this week and there's an infamous teen, a dance. It's a teen movie with a dance scene.

[00:02:07] So I thought it'd be fun for us to each rank our favorite or pick three of our favorite teen dance scenes from movies. Does it have to be a school dance or it could be any dance? It's a school dance, yo. I don't, I didn't think this was going to be so difficult. A homecoming, a prom, a winter festival. Guys, I got my three. Damn. Okay. Particular order for me.

[00:02:34] But my first one is me and Michelle's high school reunion. That's a good one. Yes. I see why you were asking all the questions. Mine is I'm doing a layup and that's she's all that. Mine is Love and Basketball because I just love her dress reveal. Yeah. And I love the music during that time. That's on my list. So damn you.

[00:03:07] Body. All right. Well, what's your second one? Oh, me. Model behavior. Oh, there is no one else. Yes. Yes. Nobody is angel. Okay. Jackie. Drive me crazy. Damn. That's all right. I have backups. I think that would happen. My second one is sleepover.

[00:03:38] Okay. Sleepover forever. Okay. I don't care. I love it. Brina. Can I still say Love and Basketball or should I have a backup? You can say Love and Basketball. It's fine. I mean, I too originally put Love and Basketball because of the music.

[00:04:07] Like I like by Guy and it's just, it's a great part of that story too. But if I had to choose a backup since we're sharing that, I guess I would say, oh, dang it. Does Susie Q count? Yeah. She didn't really make it to Pro. Yeah. Last one is the DNA strands from Never Been Kissed.

[00:04:38] Oh, right, right. First of all, like DNA. Got real confused. I'm going to go with 10 things I hate about you. Some of my backups were whatever it takes. Because isn't that the one where the pool opens? I always remember that one. And then Idle Hands was a fun one. Oh, that is a fun one. Or, oh, Jawbreaker. Jawbreaker's a good one too. Yeah.

[00:05:08] I wanted to say Clueless, but they didn't go to a dance. They went to like a club. Yeah. It always felt like they went to a dance, but yeah, it was a club. That's why I was like, does it have to be a school dance? Good answer, guys. I guess we didn't really rank them, but that's okay. We said our favorites. I think these are classics. Yeah. Exactly.

[00:05:37] And now I want to like go and rewatch some of these. So now we're going to put Brie in the hot seat and ask her for three employee picks. So let's see what movies she'll stock on the shelves at Blockbuster. I got a mini theme going on here to go with our movie. So talk about switcheroos. None other than the classic, the parent trap with Lindsay Lohan.

[00:06:07] And then I'm going to go class act with kid in play, which kind of plays into that, like a switch around thing. And then just because I saw this movie twice in theaters and I think it's amazing and more people should support Black films and especially by Black women starring Black women. And it's Black History Month. Just one of them days. Yes.

[00:06:34] I just saw my brother and I just went to see that one. And I loved it. What'd you think? Loved it. It was great. I know people are like, oh, it's basically like a knockoff Friday. Yes, that's what we need. We need people to be inspired by previous movies and not just for them to be remade or act on a sequel. Like, it's not like that hasn't happened before there. There's a ton of brother sister movies that I'm like, look at this.

[00:07:04] This is literally Freaky Friday. There's a million body swap movies. And yeah, no one said anything. Give me a break. It was really funny. I liked it a lot. My brother took me to see it. Yeah, no. I loved it. The tumbleweave had me crying. Because how many times have you seen it? Like, the worst place I saw was in our college dorm in our living room. Oh, no. It was just literally in the carpet.

[00:07:33] And I was like, I can't live like this. Oh, my God. College dorms are definitely, they will humble you and be like, mom, you raised me right. These girls out here, terrible. Well, I guess I did add it to the notes. But I do have a question for all of us. Okay.

[00:07:58] If you were to cast a body swap movie with anybody from the 90s and 2000s, who would you have in it? I know my answer, so I'm going to say it. Okay. Okay. So one of my, one of the movies I love so much is so stupid.

[00:08:24] It's senseless with Marlon Wayans and Matthew Lillard is in it. And I love their chemistry so much in that movie. I would love to have them be in another movie body swapping. Yeah. But it's hard because both of them are so goofy. Like, neither one of them will be like the straight man in that comedy duo. So it would be very, I feel, very unhinged. Yeah.

[00:08:50] I think, I think that's interesting because just thinking about it and that not to make everything about race, but there's not a lot of like body swap movies that also play with that element or even gender. Like where a guy switches with a girl or something like it's either I haven't seen it or it's just very rare in terms of.

[00:09:12] My favorite is Jack Black in Jumanji where it's the female person is playing the male character. Like, I love that. Like when she has to pee and she's trying to figure out how to work a penis and stuff. And Jack Black is just so great at it that I'm like. Oh, what's the hot chick? That's one that's gender. The hot chick. There's another one.

[00:09:37] It's a guy thing or came out in like, I think 2006 or something. And it's about these two neighbors who end up switching bodies with each other. So the guy and a girl. Next thing. The guy girl thing. Yeah. Cause in the hot chick, they also have like the peeing thing where like, it's like, oh my God. And I was like, is it really that hard? Like it makes me, makes me curious.

[00:10:06] It's called, it's a boy girl thing. Ah, okay. I'm going to say Jackie. Oh, I was just going to say, I use, you think you're so cool. Cause you can pee with your penis more than I'd like to admit. Like when guys are like showboating or like. Do you guys have your picks? I have one, but I don't know who I'd pair them up with. I'd like Samuel L. Jackson to be.

[00:10:36] Oh my gosh. I think it would just be so fun and so unhinged. Like him trying to play, not himself and the other person trying to play Samuel L. Jackson. Cause he's himself in every role. But I don't know who that other person would be. It would be fun to meet like Kevin, not Kevin Hart. What if like an Eddie Murphy or somebody who it, they both just have very distinct.

[00:11:06] Yes. Personalities. Yeah. I love him in a comedy. One of my favorites is him and Bernie Mac before Bernie passed. There's that movie. I can't remember what it's called. Yeah. Where they're like old. Yeah. They're like the old singing group. Yeah. Yeah. That's funny. Well, I guess that could be a choice because if we're doing that timeframe, then he would still be alive. But yeah, Samuel L. Jackson, for sure.

[00:11:35] There's also down to earth with Chris Rock where he dies and then he, they're like, oh no, we didn't mean like it wasn't your time. So they put him in that old white man's body. So that's funny. Like that aspect. So I think I'm going to be messy and I'm going to say, I can't help but think it might be interesting to see Will and Jada like trade places and see, I feel like Will will

[00:12:03] be funny, you know, and, and Jada like will probably be bothered by anything he does in her body. So I think that would be an interesting dynamic or take their kids. Will, Willow and Jaden would be interesting. Yeah. I think that they're both such funny comedic actors. I'm surprised they didn't haven't done a comedy together. Will and Jada. Yeah.

[00:12:31] It's surprising that their only shared movie credit kind of is, I think, Ali. It is. Yeah. Yeah. So, and that's such a serious movie. And yeah, I think they would be really funny together. I think they missed their timing though. I don't think anybody would want to watch anything from them together. Yeah. I was just thinking another like sleeper body.

[00:12:56] It's not really a body swap, but like in Ghost where Whoopi has to play Patrick Swayze at times because he like embodies her. Oh. And that's so good. Like I just, there are some that work out really well. Yeah. The one that I didn't get to see, but I wanted to see was Freaky with Catherine Newton and Vince Vaughn. Yeah. I haven't seen that yet.

[00:13:22] Because it's like a horror comedy kind of thing because one of them's a serial killer. Yeah. Yeah. So I did want it to, I need to watch that one. But if you guys have any favorite body swap movies or any suggestions or you hated our, our picks, let us know at no more late fees on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube threads, and blue sky.
