Ready to go back to a time of dial-up internet, warehouse raves, and questionable life decisions?

This week on the No More Late Fees podcast, we're taking a deep dive into the wild ride that is 1999’s Go! Join us as we dissect the plot twists, iconic (and questionable) characters, and that killer soundtrack. Joining in on the shenanigans is our pal Megan aka Tapegirl. Was Go a cult classic or a total flop? Is Go an unsung Christmas classic? We're breaking it down with hilarious commentary, nostalgic memories, and maybe a sprinkle of existential dread (because, y'know, the 90s).

This indie gem boasts an all-star cast you might not have seen together back in the day!

Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead) shines bright alongside Katie Holmes (Dawson's Creek) and Timothy Olyphant (Scream 2). We'll also see early appearances from Taye Diggs and Melissa McCarthy. [00:02:42] Grocery store clerk Simon occasionally sells drugs from his cash register at work.

[00:02:46] So when soap opera actors Adam and Zach come looking for ecstasy on a quiet Christmas Eve,

[00:02:51] they're surprised if I'm Rana covering his shift.

[00:02:54] Disp... Desperate for money, Rana decides to become an impromptu drug dealer unaware that Adam and

[00:03:01] Zach are secretly working for obsessed narcotics officer Burke. The movie stars Katie Holmes,

[00:03:07] Jay Moore, Sarah Pauley, Scott Wolfe, Tay Diggs, Brecken Meyer, James Duvall, Timothy Elephant,

[00:03:14] and William Fitchner. The movie was directed by Doug Liman and screenplay written by John

[00:03:19] August. You can watch it currently on Amazon or YouTube for rent for $3.59. Let's get into our

[00:03:27] ratings rewind. So you know the drill before we get into the movie, we'll reveal the rating our

[00:03:32] Y2K versions of ourselves would give. Then at the end, we'll see if our current selves agree

[00:03:36] with our initial reading. Our scale consists of would buy it would buy it again. The best

[00:03:40] would plan repeat five day rental would watch again two day rental. Okay, but nothing to

[00:03:47] write home about and same day rental. It's pretty much a shit filled garbage pile. It's trash.

[00:03:57] So Megan, what is your Y2K reading of go would buy would buy again? Is that what it is? Yes.

[00:04:04] Yes, definitely. It's a wood by for me, Jackie. It's a wood by I was,

[00:04:10] I don't think I realized what a huge no doubt fan I was.

[00:04:16] Also Gwen Stefani, like yes, I know that she's problematic for her appropriation and not only

[00:04:23] for her appropriation, but also the fact that she doubled double down on it when confronted with

[00:04:28] it even to this day she still like doesn't apologize for it and is just real cringe.

[00:04:34] But let's be honest for a hot minute there, that bitch was top tier. Yeah,

[00:04:41] she has such a unique voice that like and like the music is just so jammy it's hard to not

[00:04:49] Yes, feel good listening to it. And her aesthetics were great like who rocks braces

[00:04:55] and rocks out and nobody makes fun of that shit. Right. And this era she was wearing braces.

[00:05:02] Mm hmm. Gotta give it to her. Gotta give it to her. Anywho, that song on soundtrack definitely

[00:05:09] influenced me saying I got to see this movie and it didn't disappoint at the time. So

[00:05:15] what about you, Jackie? Would buy for me. I liked anything like Super Indie and this felt

[00:05:20] like a Quentin Tarantino-esque style movie where it's like disjointed editing and you see

[00:05:26] one storyline that feeds into another so I was totally into it. It definitely wasn't Indie.

[00:05:33] It started off with a lower budget and they kept getting money

[00:05:37] gradually throughout the movie but the process of making the movies but the budget

[00:05:42] was $20 million and it made $28.5 million dollars. Actually when it was about to start shooting

[00:05:49] its foreign financing fell through because the film lacked a bankable white male star.

[00:05:55] Oh that sounds familiar. Yeah so Columbia Pictures actually stepped in and financed the film but

[00:06:01] this movie was very Indie like the way that they ended up shooting and we'll get into all of that

[00:06:07] was it had probably more money than most Indie productions do but it still was. They were

[00:06:13] scrapping for real. So you ready to hear what little Raj had to say? Always.

[00:06:18] The Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun Time stated that Go is an entertaining clever black comedy that

[00:06:27] takes place entirely in Tarantino land. Go has energy and wit and the performances are right

[00:06:34] for the material especially Sarah Pauley who thinks fast and survives harrowing experiences

[00:06:39] and Fitchner the cop who is so remarkably open to new experiences. I didn't realize that the

[00:06:47] director of this movie made so many bangers Doug Lyman he has made Mr. and Mrs. Smith the born

[00:06:55] identity, swingers, edge of tomorrow. I'm pretty sure he did the OC show as well or at least a lot

[00:07:02] of the episodes yeah he was like a producer director something of the OC. Well that's why

[00:07:07] this movie speaks to our heart. Yeah for sure and I love that he's done all these movies

[00:07:14] and he still says that he considers Go to be his best film. Like he's just like us y'all.

[00:07:21] So this movie came out August 24th 1999 on VHS and man it was a good time to be alive.

[00:07:28] Simply irresistible. Romeo and Michelle's High School reunion. Mr. Holland's opus

[00:07:33] sense and sensibility dirty work which came out in 98 but I guess

[00:07:37] it took a while to come out on VHS for some reason the mods were on and Uli's Gold.

[00:07:42] They're like wow. Old one though. Yeah probably yeah it probably just got a

[00:07:47] like a release or something but before we dive into the casting let's hear a word from our podpals.

[00:07:57] What's up dudes I'm Jerry D of Totally Rad Christmas the podcast that talks all things

[00:08:01] Christmas in the 80s toys movies specials music books fashion and fads. If it was gnarly during

[00:08:08] Christmas in the 80s he's got it covered. So tune in to Totally Rad Christmas everywhere you

[00:08:13] get your podcast turn the clock back and dive into those warm and fuzzy memories later dudes.

[00:08:19] Now let's talk about casting crew because the casting there's a lot of fun stories so let's

[00:08:26] start with after viewing Swingers John August who wrote the film and the producers felt like

[00:08:33] Doug Lyman would be the perfect fit and Lyman did sign on soon after. I think it took a little

[00:08:40] convincing though for him and the funny story is that guess what movie he was like they were trying

[00:08:46] to position him to make for instead of this one they were like if you do another indie

[00:08:53] you're gonna mess you know it's gonna mess up like it'll be a while before another big studio

[00:08:57] opportunity comes yeah heartbreakers our movie heartbreakers but it's weird because

[00:09:04] we know that movie didn't come out till what was it like 2004. Yeah so was it really

[00:09:13] maybe it was a 2001 I thought it was I thought it was

[00:09:16] it was 1999 no 2001 yeah okay it's taken just a little bit but yeah I was surprised by that

[00:09:26] and I was like I love go but man I love me heartbreakers it's so good it's so ridiculous

[00:09:35] okay casting was problematic due to the fact of the adult nature of this movie

[00:09:40] and the plot and the fact that teenage actors would have been too young to portray half the

[00:09:45] actions in the script so when it was decided to cast slightly older actors it just made sense

[00:09:52] that could pass for teenagers so I'm not surprised by that and I'm grateful. Right thank you for doing

[00:10:00] that. Just watching this movie I was like man this just makes me want to watch Dawn of the Dead

[00:10:06] so bad because Sarah Pauly is so good and that's my favorite like yes horror movie from that genre

[00:10:14] we had totally different thoughts and I think this is the epitome of how we are personality was

[00:10:22] seeing Sarah Pauly you thought Dawn of the Dead yes I thought Avon Lee my girl from Canada

[00:10:31] I love that fucking show and it was it's a pipeline see it started with Anna Green Gables right

[00:10:38] I think you talked about this last time she can always bring it back to Anna Green Gables

[00:10:43] oh my gosh that's impressive it's a pipeline from Anna Green Gables to Avon Lee I do love a period

[00:10:52] I don't want to be in that period of time because it wasn't great for it

[00:11:02] I do love that that Tay Diggs was like one of the first people that they hired

[00:11:06] and so the casting director Joseph Middleton he saw Tay Diggs in a production of Brent so we all know

[00:11:11] he started on Broadway and he actually had Lyman fly out to New York to meet him for the part

[00:11:17] of Marcus which I thought was cool that's awesome we had talked about in our brown sugar

[00:11:25] was it brown sugar episode how we're this year not this season because it summer season three

[00:11:31] summer season four but all in 2024 we had very heavy Tay Diggs movies and we forgot this one yes

[00:11:38] so we're not doing three Tay Diggs movies we're doing four Tay Diggs movies this year

[00:11:43] that's amazing 2024 the season of Tay Diggs and here's where he said she just popped up

[00:11:53] for real we we did brown sugar we are doing this movie we're doing the wood next week next week

[00:12:01] what was the other one and rent at the end of the year and rent at the end yeah y'all gotta find

[00:12:06] Malibu's most wanted in there that's what Daniel keeps saying I'm like please no I am so ready for

[00:12:12] that move let's go seriously because we drink the halls in it and that's it that's all I need like she

[00:12:20] is so fucking funny I seriously that movie's a blast and we've also done the best man with him

[00:12:27] as well as how Stella got her groove back not more leafies featuring Tay Diggs

[00:12:33] Tay Diggs Tay get it we are ready for you to be on the show get him on let's go

[00:12:41] any more casting tidbits yeah there's a few more about how we got our girl Sarah Pauley

[00:12:48] yeah so Doug Lemon insisted on casting Sarah Pauley after seeing her in the suite hereafter

[00:12:54] from 1997 she was offered the role directly without auditioning sounds about right I love

[00:13:01] that she's also transitioned into directing and she's been she did she didn't she win an Oscar or

[00:13:07] she was nominated she did she win I think she won I don't know if it was for the screenplay I think

[00:13:13] it might have been for writing but she is one of those child stars that seamlessly went into adult

[00:13:19] roles and she's very private and quiet too like they said that she didn't actually do any press

[00:13:25] or she didn't really talk or interviewed was interviewed about this movie or talked about

[00:13:29] this movie until the 20th anniversary in 19 in 2019 so she has won two Oscars for best adapt

[00:13:36] but they had Christina Ricci and Melissa John Hart lined up in consideration in case

[00:13:42] Sarah Pauley wasn't available but your girl got wow well they kept asking her she kept saying no

[00:13:49] so I thought that was interesting like Sarah Pauley yeah she kept saying no she said she wanted

[00:13:54] something a little bit more serious she's looking for more dramatic roles who just didn't see it

[00:13:58] and then Doug Lyman actually and I think his producing partner kind of cornered her they told

[00:14:04] her talent agent that if she didn't come and meet with them when she was in LA at that time

[00:14:11] but she didn't come and meet with them that they wouldn't see any of their other talent

[00:14:15] to be potentially in the movie so that's how they got a meeting and then one of his friends

[00:14:21] or somebody he works with it might be his producing partner actually wrote all over the

[00:14:25] script and he's always usually harsh about this anything so he wrote dumb line take it out like

[00:14:31] it was just all marked up and she wanted to see the script again and that was the only script they

[00:14:35] had so he gave it to her and he was like that's probably not the most professional but it's

[00:14:40] actually probably what got her to do the movie which was right really it says on imdb that she

[00:14:46] says in interviews that she only took the role because she loved the line in the opening scene

[00:14:50] and look how far it got you i guess she was like okay i i don't know she's got yeah amazing exactly

[00:14:59] and she does it so deadpan too like without attitude just like sullen and just like well

[00:15:05] here we are totally any more casting tidbits yeah there's a few more about how we got our girl

[00:15:12] sarah poly yeah so Doug Lyman insisted on casting sarah poly after seeing her in the

[00:15:19] suite hereafter from 1997 she was offered the role directly without auditioning sounds about right

[00:15:26] i love that she's also transitioned into directing and she's been she didn't she win an oscar or she

[00:15:34] was nominated she did she win i think she won i don't know if it was for the screenplay i think

[00:15:39] it might have been for writing but she is one of those child stars that seamlessly went into adult

[00:15:45] roles and she's very private and quiet too like they said that she didn't actually do any press

[00:15:51] or she didn't really talk or interview was interviewed about this movie or talked about this movie until

[00:15:56] the 20th anniversary in 19 in 2019 so she has won two oscars for best adapted look at my girl

[00:16:03] from avidly to gram no sorry to oscar she may win a grammy who knows she might be an eva

[00:16:11] i don't know she can sing maybe she'll do a spoken word but they had christina rici rici

[00:16:19] and melissa john heart lined up in consideration in case sarah poly wasn't available but

[00:16:26] your girl got there wow well they they kept asking her she kept saying no so i thought that

[00:16:32] was interesting like there's sarah poly yeah she kept saying no she said she wanted something a

[00:16:37] little bit more serious she was looking for more dramatic roles she just didn't see it

[00:16:41] and then dub lineman actually and i think his producing partner kind of cornered her they told

[00:16:46] her talent agent that if she didn't come and meet with them when she was in la at that time

[00:16:53] but she didn't come and meet with them that they wouldn't see any of their other talent

[00:16:57] to be potentially in the movie so that's how they got a meeting and then one of his friends

[00:17:03] or somebody he works with it might be his producing partner actually wrote all over the

[00:17:07] script and he's always usually harsh about this anything so he wrote them line take it out like

[00:17:13] it was just all marked up and she wanted to see the script again and that was the only script they had

[00:17:18] so he gave it to her and he was like that's probably not the most professional but it's

[00:17:22] actually probably what got her to do the movie which was right really it says on imdb that she

[00:17:28] says in interviews that she only took the role because she loved the line in the opening

[00:17:32] scene and look how far it got you i guess she was like okay i i don't know she's got

[00:17:38] backs are amazing exactly and she does it so deadpan too like without attitude it just like

[00:17:45] sullen and just like well here we are totally so katie was saved by go because yeah i loved her

[00:17:54] character and just i thought she was great in this movie i think this is my favorite

[00:17:59] performance of hers especially at the end when she meets back up with top like i was like this

[00:18:04] yes this is excellent i want a whole movie about this yes i just felt like i like this part because

[00:18:14] who didn't want to make out with timothy all of it i'm the same thing and i appreciate you putting

[00:18:20] his picture right in the middle so that i can stare at the entire time and i i mean in my

[00:18:27] notes it was really hard not to call him mickey but i refrained yeah i was trying to do the map

[00:18:34] i was like oh he did scream two before this because he still had that like scream scream

[00:18:41] two hair color vibe or whatever yes but like okay here's my question though do you like him better

[00:18:50] in this one or girl next door oh tawd gains all the way yeah one okay i was like the net

[00:18:58] necktie and the weird like not quite a mutton chop but like definitely like but i love it i

[00:19:07] i thought you brought up the neck tattoo because you know mama loves a neck tattoo

[00:19:14] i could write a thesis on a neck tattoo so the funny thing is that timothy thought the character

[00:19:21] needed a neck tattoo agreed he knows what's sexy however the director done didn't didn't agree

[00:19:28] he thought it was a bad idea because it would make him appear too sinister sir no there's yeah

[00:19:34] are you kidding he's selling drugs are you kidding me the next day though

[00:19:41] elephant showed up with his tattoo it's a temporary tattoo of a pair of flaming dice that the makeup

[00:19:48] department had stamped on his neck and lineman ended up liking it and it's eight in the movie so

[00:19:53] oh yeah bravo sir i am shocked that he was fired off of practical magic and replaced with

[00:20:00] eating quinn which just in my humble opinion downgrade every time i i can't wait till we do

[00:20:08] practical magic what we're doing this year um because i do have thoughts about that and i feel

[00:20:15] like him and sandra bullock would have been up in there i i do love i do love we were robbed

[00:20:22] we were robbed but i want to know like it's not even just like he decided to leave but fired

[00:20:27] it's such a strong word what happened maybe he came on with the neck tattoo everybody combusted

[00:20:32] into flames they're like no he is too hot for practical magic yeah i i love that he ended

[00:20:40] up playing todd because apparently he auditioned for adam or zad but then they all agreed that it

[00:20:45] was better for him to play todd and yes wow but did anyone else audition for um gays do we know

[00:20:53] glad that you asked because jaymore he had gotten the lead in the movie but he wanted to be

[00:20:59] todd so much so that even when he had his role he was still pushing to be the dealer

[00:21:04] he was taken my you know pusher too far wow but this was we have to remember that jaymore came

[00:21:11] right off of jerry maguire at the time and so like he got a ton of roles he said

[00:21:17] they're on at him after that movie and really didn't have a problem on set he was in a bunch of

[00:21:22] 90s and 2000s movies right yeah 200s yeah that's right that's what i was thinking of but yeah one

[00:21:28] of the things that he said was that like you know he's coming off of getting all those movies and

[00:21:33] this was any movie he really didn't have a problem until like the way that duck lineman was

[00:21:40] filming this movie it was with an old school camera so he was constantly filming

[00:21:48] and it just like didn't stop with the newer cameras this is before digital you it would take like four

[00:21:52] minutes to kind of reset and so people took breaks he's like i can't take a nap

[00:21:59] haven't been able to take a nap or do anything like we have been filming non-stop so that was

[00:22:03] like the only thing that he kind of complained about it but he said he really liked it because

[00:22:07] it reminded him of the days of when he would you know he's a comedian so when he was in new york

[00:22:12] he would be jumping to different crime clubs and stuff so i thought that was funny that's cool and

[00:22:17] the deleted scenes on the dvd you can if you can see how it's shot like it's just it's basically

[00:22:24] just like a video camera you know and it just felt like real life that's what i loved about this

[00:22:30] movie is like it felt it feels so like real like this could be me and my friend taking it out

[00:22:36] you know and the conversations we would be having and shit like that i love day in the life movies i

[00:22:42] really do yeah there's so much so much fun so much shenanigans are happening but yeah doug and i think

[00:22:49] the actors had like a different response because he was literally being the dp he was literally holding

[00:22:54] the cameras and shooting directly with them so it just i think it brought an intimacy to it as well

[00:23:02] because they were trying to cut budget so much you know what they ended up spending the most

[00:23:06] money on was the car chase scenes oh yeah they were they were advised where they shoot those

[00:23:15] i don't know i didn't see that part but i'm i don't know if they i feel like they did they

[00:23:20] actually go to vegas or but yeah i feel like a lot of it was shot in vegas maybe yeah probably

[00:23:27] out in like mexico and nevada and shit yeah i didn't see they didn't have any let me look in

[00:23:33] i'll see where their shooting locations are yeah last two things so lineman originally did not

[00:23:40] want to cast scott wolf which i thought was fun to have him in this movie because prior to this

[00:23:45] he had been pretty like straight laced you know party of five very dramatic roles what was that

[00:23:50] boat movie about the quals he was in that but like nothing you guys don't want to talk about

[00:23:57] i think so white quals or something you jeniel fired it but they cast scott wolf and well he was

[00:24:07] not really wanting to because scott was on party of five and kate holmes was on the creek

[00:24:12] that's what i wouldn't call it white squall as you know white squall

[00:24:17] 1996 it's

[00:24:21] yes

[00:24:24] swedish messengers call us if you want us to cover white squalls we'll do it as a patreon

[00:24:33] so yeah he was heading on scott wolf because kate holmes was already signed on and he didn't

[00:24:37] want a movie that was just tv actors but he saw him scott talking to jay more in the hallway

[00:24:44] and he realized that they had like a good amount of chemistry between the two of them so

[00:24:49] i thought that was good they did they really did yeah for sure and lastly melissa mccarthy this is

[00:24:56] her film debut and i never of course we didn't notice when we're watching it because we didn't

[00:25:01] know who she was yet but right i know and then it was like you rewatch and you're like of course

[00:25:08] that's melissa i know like how did i not remember that she played jimmy the make-up guy's sister

[00:25:17] she was in gilmore girls that's right when did that air in the 2000s i okay so it's after after

[00:25:23] yeah this was her film debut yeah but she was giving very suki vibes for sure yeah yeah it started

[00:25:32] in 2000 okay yeah yeah yeah it looks like it was shot in the supermarket gas station tods apartment

[00:25:42] and the rave were all in california either la or san amonica and then the new frontier

[00:25:48] hotel and casino in vegas awesome oh okay i i think it's cool because it makes a lot of

[00:25:57] sense now like after watching the movie but the writer originally wrote this he wrote it as a short

[00:26:04] film just about rana and he titled it x inspired by rock and roll ralph's grocery store in sunset

[00:26:12] boulevard but then his friends kept asking about what happened to simon when he went to vegas and

[00:26:17] what happened to zack right so he was like okay so that's why he ended up writing the other three

[00:26:23] parts which is really cool i i love that for us seriously all right jenki let's let's do this dive in

[00:26:35] the columbia intro is like so iconic when the movie starts i think we had one of these on

[00:26:41] detroit rock city too so that's awesome yeah it's just like they do the columbia intro but

[00:26:46] like as it starts the rave is like starting at the same time and so the song i want to say it's

[00:26:52] like fire up the sous chas you saw it's like some techno song comes on at the same time as like the

[00:26:58] columbia thing and it starts like going in and out and like flickering and like it's just a badass intro

[00:27:06] do y'all have y'all did y'all not see that i was eating chips megan i'm sorry

[00:27:13] okay yeah my bed i need to go back now so this is the portion of the movie that's from rana's

[00:27:19] perspective she is working as a supermarket checker we find out very quickly she's about to be evicted

[00:27:26] but she's only 17 which never made sense to me family life wasn't good and she had to move out early

[00:27:33] and figure out life you know yeah thank you for the backstory so she's been working she worked a 14

[00:27:39] hour shift she goes to clock out and then simon catches her and he's like hey i want to go on

[00:27:43] a boys trip to vegas will you work my shift i'll pay you in advance so she goes to clock back in

[00:27:50] then we see scott wolf and jay morris characters adam and zack come through her checkout line they're

[00:27:56] buying like an entire like basket full of frozen warden shoes and really they're not there to

[00:28:04] purchase anything in particular they're looking for the british guy simon who rana is covering

[00:28:09] his shift because they need 20 hits of ecstasy for a party that they're having and so rana's like

[00:28:15] well i know the drug dealer sure i'll get you your drugs and so thus leads us on this insane

[00:28:24] night that happens they hop in i i don't even know whose card is it's just decorated for christmas

[00:28:29] which i always loved i don't know i feel like it's manny's car it felt like so too yeah if it you

[00:28:36] know what and it's being decorated in christmas like i don't see rana doing that yeah i don't see

[00:28:42] claire doing that it has to be definitely manny yes for sure he's here's the one who partakes

[00:28:49] yes so they go and meet todd gains behind me hello and there she's trying to convince him she's like

[00:28:58] i know simon buys from you all the time and she kind of acts like it's for her personally

[00:29:04] and we get this whole like thing about like i don't do favors i give a blowjob before i gave a favor

[00:29:11] and i don't give blowjob steve and my best friends which i love like that whole line

[00:29:17] and so he makes he like i love this scene where he like turns the music up really

[00:29:23] loud and of course the music increases in volume in the scene or like for the viewer as well

[00:29:29] and then yeah he's like whispering to her like essentially he wants to make sure that she's not

[00:29:34] wired and not working for the cops in any form or fashion and so he makes her take her shirt off

[00:29:39] and spin around and stuff but and then like as soon as that's done he lowers the volume the

[00:29:44] volume lowers for the viewers like it's just it's a very simple scene but it's highly impactful

[00:29:51] for yeah definitely because it shows that he's no dumb drug dealer for sure he knows what's

[00:29:59] up yeah he knows the law yeah i feel like if we got more drug dealers in higher positions we would be

[00:30:05] doing better as a country they're very intelligent they are they know the law to the tea they know

[00:30:12] the law they know science because they gotta be cooking that met you know what i mean

[00:30:19] you know and and they also know what what's the other so i said they have to be somewhat

[00:30:25] personable but they have to mean business yeah their business they know how to make a good deal

[00:30:31] and they know they could spot you know if shit is a little fishy yeah hence what happened with

[00:30:38] ronah like yeah when he hits it's real convenient that you're asking for how much it would be

[00:30:46] for it to be considered that you are like traffic trafficking yeah yes and so she's like no it's just

[00:30:54] i i'm having this party and so he's like okay 15 bucks a hit and she's like well i know Simon

[00:30:59] gets them for 10 he's like no inflation 15 and she's like i just have enough money for like 10

[00:31:06] bucks a hit and he can i leave you with collateral and enter for claire who's like i don't want to

[00:31:13] sit with a drug dealer for 45 minutes and ron is like it'll be fun i when i see this scene i could

[00:31:21] so see me being ronah and jackie being claire except jackie would have never sat there

[00:31:28] as collateral she'd be like no bitch maybe if it was timithiola maybe that's the one exception

[00:31:36] shirtless an eighth santa hat yeah i'll sit here with you yeah also we missed a very important

[00:31:42] factor the fact that when ronah comes in there is already a a chick a chick there they're

[00:31:49] about to leave and she does a full make out with him and it's just like oh okay and then just leaves

[00:31:55] casually yeah i'm jealous of that extra that day so she didn't really go to town on that one as you should

[00:32:06] so they tell claire we'll be back by 8 45 minutes tops i just have to run it to this house

[00:32:10] get paid get back ron is not great with the directions and so it takes her to 804 just

[00:32:17] to find the house so claire's already paging up a storm because we don't have cell phones at this point

[00:32:24] we only have beepers and no google maps i actually imagine how hard it is to navigate trying to find

[00:32:30] this house right and so we see mani hand her the bottle as she's getting out of the car

[00:32:37] little does she know he snuck to for himself so he's very excited and she was warned like

[00:32:45] this is like pharmaceutical grade shit none of you guys one one tab one tab a hit otherwise you'll

[00:32:53] be frying eggs off of them for a week yeah and he says it's none of that crunchy granola herbal

[00:33:00] shit yes i don't know what that is what that it's like um ron to be selling later

[00:33:08] to kids i think they're rolling and they're just right placebo effect in

[00:33:16] um so ronna goes inside and she asked for some of the they asked her if she wants anything to drink

[00:33:22] she says some of the oj would be great and this is when we're introduced to berk william

[00:33:28] finkter's character and he comes back he's like no oj but i got you a survey so and that's

[00:33:37] yeah she's like yeah it ain't right like and adam and zacker they're just looking nervous

[00:33:43] and the place looks all staged and like so weird like it was just so sketchy

[00:33:50] i remember watching that for the first time and having like a full-on panic attack like i was like

[00:33:54] no no like i was just freaking out for her this is a kill room yeah i would have just been nervous

[00:34:01] because there's just three guys that it's not like a party i would have felt like

[00:34:06] something could happen to me besides just like the drug aspect but they very much were giving off

[00:34:11] narc vibes and i i do love how seamlessly she kind of like dealt with the situation

[00:34:18] oh yeah and we learned later that was it who's adam which one's that which one's adam adam is

[00:34:25] got wolf okay so zack mouths to her go yes yes i would love i needed i would i was looking to see

[00:34:33] if they would say it somewhere how many times the word go is actually said in this movie because

[00:34:38] it's a lot yeah for different reasons so she ends up asking to use the restroom she goes in

[00:34:47] in a panic she can't get the lid off the bottle like pills go everywhere she's trying to flush

[00:34:51] him meanwhile berk is trying to get into the bathroom there's like a little window like up above

[00:34:56] the door also why did she flush them i would just i would have just like stuffed them in my pants

[00:35:01] or something yeah hit them on me and you know did whatever she said she was gonna do i mean she

[00:35:08] didn't have to i don't know yeah yeah definitely like because they weren't going to unnecessary

[00:35:14] yeah because they didn't have like probable cause to like search her or anything she could have

[00:35:20] just been like oh sorry couldn't get um thanks for the beer and walked out but she's also 17 and

[00:35:26] has never been a drug dealer before so but she she flushes them and then he opens the door as she's

[00:35:35] walking around she's like it's all yours like she was so great in that scene though like she

[00:35:40] really just killed it what i never understood is why she even went back to get clear right away

[00:35:47] why didn't she because it seemed like that plan of selling like the Tylenol and whatnot

[00:35:53] was already brewing why not go to the rave sell some get them the hundred dollars pay off what's

[00:36:00] his face and then be done yeah why fuck with this crazy drug dealer well i think i think she

[00:36:06] was just like what claire was blowing up her pager and she was like i gotta get claire back

[00:36:11] so i need to come up with a plan but to trust the very high man to identify what the pills look like

[00:36:20] yeah she was never gonna get away with that like eventually he was going to see whether or not

[00:36:25] they were the same shape he would have known like and they have known numbers are printed yeah

[00:36:31] yeah no it was a bad bad plan yeah but i'm sure she was under a lot of pressure because like you

[00:36:36] said mani was starting a fucking trip he was also funny she still let mani drive to the store

[00:36:45] yeah she gave no fucks who just like let's get out of here she's like drive

[00:36:50] bitch he's gonna kill you he's gonna be able to dance scenes in his little brain

[00:36:56] he's not on this

[00:36:59] i love that dance scene hey macarena

[00:37:06] yeah so they go to the grocery store where she works so she's and she steals a whole bunch of

[00:37:12] medication she's like allergy medicine yeah but she's not doing a good job stealing either because

[00:37:18] she's making a mess and knocking things over like she did not look inconspicuous at all

[00:37:24] like baby girl just take one off the shelf kind of look at it and then

[00:37:28] slide yes because you have so much experience thieving i want i will

[00:37:36] you are correct i am not the thieving type however i've watched enough movies to know

[00:37:41] so they go back to get claire she convinces thawd to take back the pills and as she's leaving he goes

[00:37:49] claire i just did you a favor and she's she says like it felt like a blow oh here i thought it was

[00:37:57] a blow job and like walks out and like the one liners in this movie yeah top notch well man

[00:38:06] and so before ronnie shows up though thawd starts giving creepy man vibes

[00:38:13] he's like do you want to get laid for christmas and he keeps you over using her name

[00:38:19] yes it was very much mickey vides from and he's like are you a virgin and stuff like that yeah

[00:38:26] like you are the 20s a 30 year old man and i'm 17 get get the step in sir right to catch a predator

[00:38:35] i'd catch this predator it's jelly but someone said it i'm telling you the sexual awakening that

[00:38:46] happened with todd the drug dealer and go i think i'm just gonna get you some underwear that says to

[00:38:53] catch a predator and then a picture of him from this movie oh my god oh god the other main thing

[00:39:01] that happens in the whole todd ronnie claire scene is that manny comes up just tripping like

[00:39:09] he can't even hardly stand up straight and he has a mental conversation with the cat

[00:39:14] oh my god that is my favorite part of the whole movie he's like you're gonna die

[00:39:23] as soon as the cat like jumps up on the couch i'm like oh shit here we go like

[00:39:28] hence and while you're tripping is just so crazy so yeah that scene was awesome i can hear your thoughts

[00:39:36] yeah and i'm like nobody notices this dude like tripping out in the corner right now like

[00:39:41] there were other things going on i guess so after they leave todd the drug dealer's apartment

[00:39:48] this is when ronnie reveals she has this brilliant plan to sell the rest of the pills

[00:39:52] at the rave to recoup the money she is now lost because she's still gonna be a victim if

[00:39:57] she doesn't have three hundred forty dollars by tomorrow so they introduce themselves as kelly and

[00:40:02] donna and to a no ho we already discussed the dance the dance scene right no no let's go back to the

[00:40:12] we just glanced over and i feel like that doesn't do it justice no way no so while ronnie is

[00:40:21] very poorly shoplifting mani is in his own little mani world he starts he's playing with the scanner

[00:40:28] and like making a beat and then in his mind he starts dancing to the moccarena with the other

[00:40:35] checkout lady and they're like he's throwing green beans in the air they're laying on the produce

[00:40:41] there's sharing a banana oh yeah who was an actress was she somebody i looked and i don't

[00:40:50] think she was i think probably a bit hard actress like but nothing significant right

[00:40:58] wow she was great but that's dancing scene and then you find out like it's all a mani's head like

[00:41:03] this is happening so great and he's just like basically like standing there drooling so kelly

[00:41:11] and donna are selling like it's been a drill and shit to all of these kids going to a rave and

[00:41:18] they're totally buying into it yeah and i do really like the part where she she kind of like

[00:41:25] in her own mind is this big time drug dealer because a kid comes up he's like oh i heard you

[00:41:30] got the good shit and she's like show me your tits and makes him spin you do you ronnie

[00:41:38] sometimes you gotta fake to you make it you know sometimes yeah especially the cahonas you need

[00:41:43] to be selling fucking Tylenol and shit i know but i do like that she tells them that like look

[00:41:50] you gotta get it it works better when you get really high with maryl yeah so yeah spoke a lot of weed

[00:41:58] yeah and then this todd realizes that she gave him like aspirin to replace the ecstasy she flushed

[00:42:08] and earlier when he had the claire is ransom she had told him about the rave like gave him the

[00:42:15] fire for the rave so he's now going to hear or he's going to find ronnie and then to confirm

[00:42:21] his suspicions he overhears some of the kids talking about like it's legit stuff it's none

[00:42:27] of that crunchy herbal rave shit which is what he said to ronnie earlier in the movie and so

[00:42:32] he's like i know she's hogging better here yeah yeah it's about this time the the double dose of ecstasy

[00:42:40] is catching up with mani and he he's burning up just as todd predicted he's puking he's he's unwell

[00:42:48] and so ronnie's solution is here hide between these trash cans till morning they're so lucky

[00:42:55] okay because in an alleyway nonetheless yeah i would never do that to somebody

[00:43:02] that's so fucked up well i don't think that her intention was to really leave him for that long

[00:43:07] she did have to go right she's got to take him to the ER but she forgot right yeah well she got hit

[00:43:19] and nobody else knew about him but her yeah she's like hide like a little mouse i'm gonna go get

[00:43:24] the car and be right back and then that's right i almost called him mickey todd catches up to her in

[00:43:29] the parking lot and he's like you fucked me over and he's threatening her with a gun and she starts

[00:43:36] running and gets hit by a miata driven by zack and adam do you think that he really was gonna

[00:43:44] shoot her i don't know maybe i think so maybe yeah maybe not kill her but maybe like shoot her in the

[00:43:54] leg or you know something yeah i mean why does he got that if he's not gonna you say maybe he'll pistol

[00:44:00] loop her yeah or something that's true no we see ronnie fly off into a ditch and we don't know if

[00:44:07] she's alive or dead she's not moving it okay the way that he acts in this scene is priceless like

[00:44:15] this scene alone is hilarious because it's he says so much dialogue without saying a word and the fact

[00:44:25] that like the fuck did this happen and then the way he's looking at them in the car in the miata

[00:44:31] he's like yeah y'all fucking for real do you not see me like y'all no you didn't just

[00:44:39] and then he's kind of pointing and then they just drive away and he's just standing there like

[00:44:44] they do so many things it's not even like they just hit her and keep going like they hit her

[00:44:50] they back up they go forward they back up again they say yeah like there's so much and he is

[00:44:57] like i know fuck like and they like zoom and hit the brakes so that she flies off into the

[00:45:03] ditch and i love that he's like you know what i don't gotta do nothing i'm just yeah he's like

[00:45:10] well thanks i guess mission accomplished you know what now that i think about it he was gonna

[00:45:16] shoot he would have shot her because he has no remorse even when he sees claire later he doesn't

[00:45:23] say your friend's in a bad way you're looking for your friend let's go make out he's gonna give up

[00:45:29] i know i mean he needs to be a drug dealer i am going to be a tata apologist this entire movie

[00:45:37] he's so far gone y'all she's like well they weren't that good of friends but i mean she broke the

[00:45:44] code there was an agreement she broke the agreement no one in this movie is a good person yeah she

[00:45:52] like you said she made so many horrible mist like horrible choices yeah decisions like she could have

[00:45:58] first off not flush them she could have like you said gone and sold and made the money before she

[00:46:04] went back to todd so i mean really it was on her i would say there's two candidates for not horrible

[00:46:11] people in this movie it's sing and claire no and and manny i don't think manny's a horrible

[00:46:18] person he's so adorable he was just trying to have fun just wow that's all claire's too whiny and

[00:46:27] straight lace for me and she wasn't making smart decisions either true i mean she was solution

[00:46:32] minded at the end but we'll get to that a little bit yeah so simon so simon my boy now i have to

[00:46:41] preface that as much as i love sarah poly in this movie because of avonlea i very much like this actor

[00:46:50] does menaskew because he was in roswell so you know i was happy to see him he was i need to rewatch

[00:46:56] roswell i loved that show anywho so we meet simon we you know we saw that he approached ronah

[00:47:02] about taking his shift so that he can go to vegas with his boys so when we see him again after

[00:47:08] that exchange he wakes up in the back of a trunk of a car which i'm still trying to figure out what

[00:47:14] the hell happened i don't know if he fell asleep or if he took a drug but he's in the back of the trunk

[00:47:18] and his yeah you hear laughing so his friends have thrown him back there what scared me the most

[00:47:24] about this is that he has a lighter and they look like there's an oil canister or something

[00:47:30] back there is it's a gas can or something i said not this is not smart but this is just

[00:47:36] one of many dumb decisions that that simon makes halfway through his storyline i just wrote i hate

[00:47:43] simon the shit he does he has the british white man of the audacity for sure yes so then he is

[00:47:54] we meet his friends so we've got marcus played by tay diggs who i think he's the one getting

[00:47:59] married because apparently this is this a bachelor party essentially or something is he

[00:48:03] getting married or was he just talking about his girlfriend boys boy's trip i think it's a

[00:48:07] boys trip yeah okay and i feel like simon wasn't really invited like those are the vibes i guess

[00:48:13] just like he's just like i've never been to vegas i want to go exactly yeah this friend

[00:48:19] mentioned it in passing and he's just like yes i will go honestly i don't even it doesn't

[00:48:26] even matter because this friend group is not a solid group in the first place i don't know

[00:48:31] how these people know each other okay i don't know how they're friends because there it doesn't

[00:48:35] seem like they're real friends so marcus seems to be like the only one well sing doesn't seem too

[00:48:41] too bad but definitely marcus seems to be the only one with some brain cells rubbed together

[00:48:46] then we meet tiny played by breck and meyer he's definitely giving stuff yeah from kahri

[00:48:52] wait vibes he's i i i know some people don't like me using word wigger but that's what it is

[00:48:59] giving where he's appropriating black culture he uses the word he uses the n word and so

[00:49:07] i try to take a deep breath and stay within it and because i know a white man wrote this movie well

[00:49:14] you know what i don't know for sure if a white man wrote this movie i will check on that but

[00:49:22] the use of the word the n word by a white man makes no sense and then tay diggs marcus's

[00:49:28] character's reaction to it he doesn't get super angry he just is like what are you talking about so

[00:49:34] we learn that this character is very much trying to put on he tells an entire story about a girl

[00:49:41] and and marcus is like what are the details do you remember this you remember that he's like

[00:49:46] i don't remember whatever who cares whatever he's like i care because you're telling the

[00:49:50] fucking story i told months ago like yeah you're not even what are you doing so we kind of see

[00:49:58] what tiny's about sing is driving and then we've got simon in the back just being whatever

[00:50:04] and then they get to the hotel in vegas and this is when we see that simon has todd's credit card

[00:50:11] and he's only using it to just book the room because he said that todd has points or he has

[00:50:16] discounts at this hotel with that credit card which i think is interesting because todd just told us he

[00:50:22] doesn't do favors but apparently this is a this looks like a favor to me they seem simon stole that

[00:50:28] credit card and he wasn't was any on the phone but todd was on the phone with simon whenever

[00:50:34] claire was sitting there and they were talking and stuff it just seems doesn't seem like todd to

[00:50:39] just give him his credit card yeah but he like checks in and says like hey yeah and here whatever

[00:50:44] so it does feel like todd but he does say simon does say like i'm just using the credit card to get

[00:50:50] the discounts but i'm going to be paying with cash so it's not like he's actually okay okay a credit

[00:50:56] card so so we think or so todd thinks i mean todd thinks that one probably when he gave him the

[00:51:02] credit card before they get their room they go to the buffet to eat and this is when we learn

[00:51:09] a little bit about marcus he's talking about tantris tantris sex and tantric sex and his girlfriend

[00:51:16] and they're asking a bunch of questions about that and he's saying how he can go for hours like

[00:51:20] literally trying to be sting essentially like without coming and then while they're at the buffet

[00:51:26] marcus says to sing in tiny you know don't stop fucking with that shrimp don't eat that shrimp

[00:51:32] they all eat those two idiots get eat the shrimp they get back to the room they are fucked

[00:51:37] up they're shitting and stinking out the room they are sick we also learn that their hotel is adjacent

[00:51:45] to another room and there's a little kid over the door yeah yeah and they are not the nicest

[00:51:52] of little kid and this is when when todd and simon are talking on the phone and he does ask

[00:51:57] todd if he's going to fuck or have sex with sorry but i think he does say buck

[00:52:03] hello i'm not claire claire yeah so now the tiny and singer out marcus and simon decide they're

[00:52:10] gonna go hit the town they go hit the obviously they go hit up the casino first obviously simon

[00:52:17] loses all his fucking money within five minutes he's already asking marcus for money and marcus takes

[00:52:22] his wallet and he's like that is the most friend-like thing that happens in this whole segment

[00:52:31] is him saying let me have your wallet like you're making stupid decisions right yes yeah the thing that

[00:52:37] we learn later is the way that marcus and simon become friends which i think is hilarious is because

[00:52:43] they both went to driving school together that's how they know each other and we see both of them

[00:52:49] drive recklessly also because tay digs is from new york he had to learn how to drive to pour

[00:52:56] this movie because he did not have his license prior i read that i love that fun fact which is

[00:53:03] very new york i know a lot of my new york friends who do not know how to drive

[00:53:07] anywho so another thing to that happens is that marcus is getting a lot of like micro he's dealing

[00:53:14] with a lot of racial micro aggressions where people are treating him like staff he is treated

[00:53:21] like an attendant someone throws cash at him or when he's in the bathroom just being nice i think

[00:53:27] in some ways they were trying to make it seem like because he was wearing that jacket because

[00:53:31] yes but i think yellow jacket yeah but it doesn't make him look like an attendant it was just

[00:53:36] micro racist micro aggressions he also as him and simon are like walking out this guy just

[00:53:42] throws his keys as if he is a parking attendant so they take this car this sports car and they

[00:53:48] just are like okay what's it done yeah you know i don't know what is it oh no my barbie had a corvette

[00:53:56] that's all i know okay so they take the Ferrari and they end up going to the crazy horse strip club

[00:54:04] because it was one of taj recommendations but as they're in the car before they get to the crazy

[00:54:10] horse fucking simon finds a gun in the gloves compartment this scene made me so uncomfortable i'm

[00:54:18] like bruh like not only are you like pointing it in your face you don't know how to work it and i

[00:54:24] get like what i kind of gleaned was like because he's british and they're not allowed to have firearms

[00:54:28] like he had no but i'm like you've watched a movie before like right you know not to point at

[00:54:33] anyone and he's just like looking down the barrel trying to eject the magazine like waving

[00:54:39] around it gets me at mark it's like it is bananas how he is acting with this gun it's very very

[00:54:47] like i you know megan when you said you were having like anxiety that happens a lot in this

[00:54:53] movie yes i was getting anxiety during this scene it's a nail biter for sure so they go to the

[00:55:01] crazy horse now mark is where he messed up was he should have asked simon if he had that fucking

[00:55:05] gun yes right and so but before he does give him like a child speech like when we go on the

[00:55:11] store you've been asked for a goddamn thing that's the kind of vibes he was giving so he tells simon

[00:55:17] look when we go in here order whatever drink you fucking want but do not ask for champagne and so

[00:55:22] you know simons like why because it's for a private dance and we do not have the money

[00:55:28] for that you definitely don't have the money for that i can't even cover your own that so do

[00:55:32] not ask for champagne art and so like he's made it very clear and the first set of tips that gets

[00:55:38] in simon's face he's like i would like to order your best champagne and now now they're in the

[00:55:46] fucking back room and then they get i don't know why marcus doesn't say like look he didn't mean it

[00:55:53] he don't want to but he goes along with it and i'm like y'all are not thinking this through

[00:55:59] but then they go to the back room and the bouncer guy says look i've only got a few rules for you

[00:56:05] do not touch the girls yeah that's it you they can touch you but you can't touch them

[00:56:10] and at this point simon pays with todd's credit card just many more mistakes more mistakes

[00:56:18] and they go back to the champagne room and guess what fucking simon does grabs the grabs the

[00:56:22] grabs the grabs he touches and so the girls already they have their code touching touching

[00:56:27] touching and the bouncer comes in and starts to beat that ass and marcus but the funny thing is

[00:56:33] that again another little microaggression is that he as soon as he comes in and he hears that the

[00:56:38] girls were like they were touched who does he go after first marcus marcus and not simon and

[00:56:44] they're like the girls are like no no it's this one and he starts to wail on simon well

[00:56:50] deserved i if i was marcus i'd have been like you have to take your else there i love you but this

[00:56:56] is not a situation where i could jump in because like i warned you he warned you everyone warned you

[00:57:02] and marcus does try to step in and he gets hit he's bleeding and what does simon do instead of just

[00:57:08] like he could have just pulled the gun and scared them but he doesn't do that he pulled

[00:57:11] out the gun and he shoots the bouncer in the arm in the arm yeah and so then then they tell the

[00:57:18] girls like where's the back alley where and where's the how do you get out of here so they leave they

[00:57:24] take the car they're driving they're freaking out and the car phone starts ringing which is probably

[00:57:31] the owner like where the fuck is my car or i feel like would have been too soon like i feel like he

[00:57:36] would have just thought it was valed and just been in the casino for a while so who knows yeah

[00:57:40] because i well we don't know how long they were in the crazy horse that's true they could

[00:57:45] have been in there for a while and then as they're driving genius simon decides to throw the gun out

[00:57:52] of the car he's like i gave her the weapon and marcus is like i could just feel him go

[00:57:59] like yeah bitch your friends are all right your friends are all over the gun

[00:58:05] oh fucking wow wait was was this before after he banged those two girls oh right sorry and

[00:58:13] we didn't fire i did miss that part out of all of the most ridiculous things that happen in this

[00:58:19] movie that is this part is the most ridiculous when marcus took simon's wallet he decides to

[00:58:28] wander and he stumbles upon a wedding and he somehow ends up flirting with two of the

[00:58:34] bridesmaids and they are easy as easy can be at this point that British accent got bitches lined

[00:58:40] essentially and they take him back to their room and they're smoking it looks like a crack pipe to me

[00:58:47] but i i know it's probably there well i don't know well i hope not one of the dumbest things

[00:58:53] that the girl does is she puts tissues on her nose she's like it's the only way to inhale

[00:58:58] bitch like i would have been everyone would have known like if you had tissue in your nose

[00:59:04] yeah and tissue goes up in flames so quickly right why would you try to burn the pipe so like

[00:59:12] oh my god it was so done so then she like freaks out and the tissue falls to the floor and of

[00:59:20] course they all work to like getting out the fire whatever but they leave continued

[00:59:26] fucking while the fire was up in flames and they leave the curtains caught yes yes if they'd pick

[00:59:32] up the tissues and just like make sure they were out the first time it wouldn't have been a problem

[00:59:36] and the way to calm her nerves simon is like trying to make out with her or whatever and so

[00:59:40] they have sex simon it's also high they're all high but he sees that now somehow the tissue

[00:59:47] has caused the curtains to be in flames and it's he's still just watching because he's just like

[00:59:54] yes he's practicing tantric sex right yes that's what it is i want to know if there was a

[01:00:01] scene where marcus like told him described him because just because you hear about tantric sex

[01:00:05] doesn't mean you just automatically know how to do it like he said it took him a while to

[01:00:09] to like get there no simon simon just thinks he's the sexual god in his own mind well

[01:00:19] shoots on fire simon's a horrible human being so he leaves the girls behind

[01:00:24] and he tries to take the elevator which i'm surprised elevator is even working when there's a fire

[01:00:28] running naked yes but that's when he catches up with marcus doesn't tell him any of that shit and

[01:00:35] then they have the crazy horse shenanigans so then those two idiots come back to the hotel

[01:00:41] run upstairs and they're like we gots to go but while that's happening they don't realize that

[01:00:46] the club owner is that's the that's his son that got shot so he's like

[01:00:52] and give us some boomer speech about our generation or gen z gen x generation he has

[01:01:00] the type of veneers where they like turn yellow and over time and i was just like oh i'm sorry your

[01:01:07] teeth it's yeah look he's definitely got some chompers and somehow like without internet without

[01:01:16] surveillance they're able to track these mofos down because they are able to see yeah because

[01:01:24] they left the credit card that it was used at the hotel so they call the room and the other

[01:01:30] two knuckleheads that are in the room they're like what room are you in and they should have

[01:01:35] questioned that but they were like oh six something and i love that tiny's like just saying it and

[01:01:41] sings like well what who was i don't know what it was i really appreciate this scene where they're

[01:01:50] watching like the hotel channel where it's explaining how to play all of the casino games

[01:01:57] because i grew up going to reno every summer and that channel like we would watch it for hours i

[01:02:03] don't know why but it would just always be on in the background some like old dude teaching now teaching

[01:02:09] you how to play backer at and stuff i was like i remember those days that's a good catch i didn't

[01:02:16] even remember i didn't need then the guys get back to their room and they're this is what annoys me

[01:02:21] like i understand tiny wanting to know what the fuck is going on but also another part of me knows

[01:02:28] if one of my friends says yo we gotta pack and go i'm doing it i might be asking questions but

[01:02:34] i'm already up and back and so after that the guys go downstairs to the garage they're able to

[01:02:42] bribe a little boy next door to open the door i love how the kids says a hundred dollars

[01:02:48] they're all putting money and tiny goes i got 10 did y'all notice that you said

[01:02:58] they get out they go to the garage they get in the car i feel like they could have hid but it was like

[01:03:06] barely they barely made it they barely made it through that door but i feel like they could have

[01:03:10] hid in the car and the guys like they wouldn't have no like they didn't know what car they were

[01:03:14] driving if they had just like hid somewhere else those guys wouldn't have found it but they go what

[01:03:20] kind of car was this one big body birth that looked like a suburban i can't be sure but i think it was

[01:03:29] a server well i don't know it was it was one of those like old sturdy ones uh so they take off

[01:03:39] sturdy and it was like that thing got hit a few times that gold car whatever it was so the guys

[01:03:46] are chasing them they're they're they're driving somehow simon is the one driving and now we know

[01:03:51] why simon and marcus were in driving school because and i don't know what they learned because they

[01:03:56] didn't learn nothing horrible drivers um they they caused a few accidents it's a car chase

[01:04:06] essentially and then they decide to go down this really tight alley and fuck up the car real bad

[01:04:11] oh my gosh it's it's i wanted to know whose car it was because i feel like somebody in the car

[01:04:16] should have been extremely mad about how fucked up the car was yeah right that car shouldn't

[01:04:22] have been drivable after no they hid brick walls they it was something to be seen but some

[01:04:30] the gold car was a dot sin i'm still trying to find the what the big black car i didn't care about

[01:04:36] that one i wanted to know what the this one was smashed up on yeah okay so they they're able to

[01:04:44] get away from the trip club owner and his son and they had home and they're like you know what

[01:04:52] they're not chasing us they're not going to call the police let's just go home because simon's

[01:04:55] like ready to go into hiding at this point he's like i'm i'm good let's go to mexico i take cabo

[01:05:01] like yeah it's a game so they end up deciding to go home and when he gets back he doesn't go

[01:05:09] back to his apartment he ends up going to todd's and when we get to Todd's house Todd has

[01:05:18] he's with Chloe and mr owner and son track back Todd's credit card to his address so they come over

[01:05:28] they actually they don't knock on his door they catch those two make it out on the staircase

[01:05:34] and what the dad is on the top of the stairs and the son is downstairs and they pull guns and so

[01:05:39] what i love is that Todd literally right like draws a map to where yeah in the house

[01:05:47] to be like no he lives here this is where you find him blah blah blah and so you know Clara's watching

[01:05:55] all this and she's lost the mood she she was like ready to bone and now she's like over it

[01:05:59] because they're all idiots and so they're like she's like what do you guys even want you know

[01:06:03] because if you if you kill him word witnesses like none of this is adding up and so she's when

[01:06:09] she asked that they're like okay we just want payback so they decide they want to shoot Simon in the

[01:06:13] arm for retribution so everything's square and at this point Claire's like fuck it i'm out of this

[01:06:18] shit and she leaves and as she's leaving which is such a great scene you see her jump because

[01:06:24] you see the the gun you hear the gun finally go off and you hear Simon go i'm fine and and

[01:06:30] yeah that's Simon's shenanigans yeah so the last third is about adam and Zach so we find out that

[01:06:38] they're actors they're actually on the tv behind Claire as Simon's asking Ronan to take his shift

[01:06:45] and so they're wired trying to find this drug dealer and get a drug bust so that they get

[01:06:52] out of trouble with this narcotics cup but they also when they're in the car with Burke Burke

[01:06:57] is very intrusive in their love lives and he's like oh my gosh it's it's so weird like you feel this

[01:07:05] sexual tension with Burke the whole time and these two and you never get a payoff which is so disappointing

[01:07:14] but we find out Zach and Adam are lovers and so Burke is asking questions about their girlfriends

[01:07:21] and is your girlfriend cheating on you and he's like yeah i found socks that were different than

[01:07:26] mine it's a feel-as-so it's such a put like i wonder if that actually happened to the writer

[01:07:35] because it's such a specific thing i know um and then oh and then we see them kind of

[01:07:42] tailing ronoh we see her outside of Todd's apartment we see her in the car with Manny

[01:07:49] and so their plan is to not bust her they want to bring her to their side and her become

[01:07:54] a narc to get to the drug dealer Todd it's it seems like there's this weird scene where he's

[01:08:01] handcuffing Zach where i don't really understand that was more of like the sexual tension i was

[01:08:07] feeling and i was like he was i at first i thought he was positioning himself to be like you know how

[01:08:14] they have experts that help with the show but he was just saying that like he thought they did

[01:08:20] wrong on tv all the time and so he was trying to show how to do it but it was very intrusive and

[01:08:27] sexual in the way and then he will take the handcuffs off yeah it was weird so then we get

[01:08:37] ronoh shows up we get that whole scene with her and then again you feel like Burke's gonna

[01:08:43] proposition them but he's like i just like you guys to come to christmas dinner with me

[01:08:48] and my wife my wife's cooking christmas dinner so they're like okay and we see adams making a phone

[01:08:54] call in the kitchen and the wife played by jane krasinski is that her last name yeah yeah and i'm

[01:09:01] wondering if this is the first time i've ever seen her in a movie i think it is at the time i didn't

[01:09:06] yeah but i do love like when that he scott wilson character is that adam yeah goes in how she

[01:09:14] is deliberately bent over yes yes and the way in which that she she did a snap she yeah and it was

[01:09:23] very much from a perspective of someone who is a dancer you know what that's not true i see i saw her

[01:09:29] on ale mcbill before i saw her in this so i knew who she was before this and then we see

[01:09:37] zach is using the restroom he washes his hands and i guess the restroom is attached to their

[01:09:41] bedroom maybe they only have one restroom in their house yeah and he walks out and berg is like

[01:09:49] naked as the day he was born just hanging out frank's and bean all of it and buns we got the

[01:09:57] frank's we got the beans we got the buns and he's just like smell this doesn't it smell like ck1

[01:10:05] on yeah it's very much a naked house that's all yeah well we come to find out that there's no

[01:10:12] propositioning happening it's just there are a couple of weirdos who found each other yeah

[01:10:18] characters and then did you notice all of the baby oil on the vanity

[01:10:24] five bottles of baby oil on the vanity that is great and then he's like come sit on the

[01:10:32] bed you feel that doesn't it feel nice he's like you wouldn't even i can i could jump on this bed you

[01:10:39] wouldn't even feel it yeah and then that part it's so it's so uncomfortable but like in the

[01:10:47] best it is it's fucking hilarious it's like yeah uncomfortable like like todd salon salons movies

[01:10:55] like the welcome to the doll house yes that vibe like it's just so uncomfortable you're like so now

[01:11:00] we're oh and then uh the wife Irene i think is her name she starts asking adam about like kissing

[01:11:07] and acting and and like is it real do you use tongue blah blah blah and then she like full on

[01:11:13] makes out with him yeah and he's highly uncomfortable with this there was no consent

[01:11:21] happening and then she just goes on to like serve dinner so they're all sitting around

[01:11:26] the dinner table and um i bet that ham was real good though i don't know why but i felt like it was

[01:11:35] delicious i'm sure Irene's a wonderful cook and then Zach like are you open to new things so this is

[01:11:42] when you're like okay they're they're gonna do a proposition like this is what's happening

[01:11:46] and then we cut to the scene at dinner and i love where they're all sitting down and they go

[01:11:52] what wine pairs with ham well and they both at the same time adam and zach go white wine and i was like

[01:11:58] you guys are just a little precious gay couple and i love you yeah but like Zach is feeling that

[01:12:04] the vibes are off and he's he's saying like adam's not feeling well we're gonna have to go

[01:12:09] but then Irene and burglar clean with their ulterior motive it's not the sex

[01:12:15] no it's not which we were all waiting for yes it's a pyramid scheme it's an m m yes

[01:12:23] and it's called confederated products which i didn't care for at all but there's like throughout the

[01:12:30] movie you could see placements of confederate products yeah in the car in the trunk i think you

[01:12:35] could see some i think you see some effort like laundry detergent somewhere but you see the different

[01:12:41] products which i think is hilarious yeah they're like they're like everything in this house is bought

[01:12:47] through confederated products and it's a third of the price and you can get in under us and we're not

[01:12:51] allowed to recruit anyone in the police force so we're searching for people in outside industries

[01:12:58] and they have like a wholesale pitch yes and they're just like it's good it's so uncomfortable

[01:13:06] like why do they have to do all that to sell their scheme they're so weird and i love how like

[01:13:14] that this is happening in like 1999 but now it's like such a huge thing online

[01:13:22] so crazy and so they kind of peace out and i love how adam says i need to bathe in sin

[01:13:31] yes oh my gosh so they're at the liquor store they're buying a bottle of booze and they start

[01:13:39] talking about how they each only cheated with one guy and they're like okay at the same time

[01:13:43] let's say who the guy is and it's jimmy and makeup oh and so they're like fuck we were

[01:13:51] we're cheating with the same guy so they go to confront jimmy and makeup and this is where

[01:13:55] we get the scene with melissa mcarthy and i love how she's like oh so you guys know now one time

[01:14:02] you missed each other by like three minutes it was so exciting i just love like as soon as she opens

[01:14:07] the door she's laughing at them she's like oh no okay and so they're like okay well where is jimmy

[01:14:14] because we got we got a conversation to have with him and she's like oh he's at the rave let me

[01:14:20] get the info so that's how adam and zack end up at the rave and i love how they're waiting in line to

[01:14:27] get into the rave and they're talking about their sexual encounters with jimmy and adam had to teach

[01:14:34] him how to do a proper blow job and he's like and zack's like when was this he's like oh like

[01:14:39] mid october and and like zack thinks yeah he did get a lot better oh my god but like okay

[01:14:49] if adam teaches jimmy his techniques and adam and zack are together wouldn't zack have been like you

[01:14:57] know this is familiar yeah you know i think he was more focused on the blow job than comparing it

[01:15:06] technique yeah so they find jimmy and their retaliation is to cut his beautiful locks

[01:15:15] just a piece to make him look fucked up yeah so now they've accomplished their goal

[01:15:22] they're leaving the parking lot adam's driving his lost but he's driving slowly he's like

[01:15:30] flying through the parking lot and he's he's reversing at at least like 15 20 miles per hour

[01:15:39] and this is when he hits rana and the scream they scrum was perfect it's amazing yes

[01:15:50] i'm trying it oh my god now i can't think of it there's like oh it's like the scream that

[01:15:56] jonah hill does yes and accepted yes yes so good yeah and so they like rationalize leaving her

[01:16:05] they're like she's probably dead like it's fine uh so they go to the gas station he's pulling hair off

[01:16:12] of the windshield it's pretty bad and that's when adam goes in to use the restroom he comes out he's

[01:16:18] like i was wearing my wire the whole time so we got a problem i but i wonder i wonder if it really

[01:16:26] was a problem because remember the the second cop had pulled all the supplies at like it looks like

[01:16:32] he took anything apart so i don't know if anything was really still recording yeah but that's

[01:16:37] scared this that's scared of those two so they go back to get her and their plan is no body no

[01:16:45] crime so now they're gonna dispose of a body i love that adam is too chicken shit to even

[01:16:53] touch the like he's crying at this point yeah and he's like talking through like it's just a movie

[01:16:59] come pick her up don't you see the lighting guy and i also love so this is like my

[01:17:07] very favorite part of the movie and this was the first movie ken and i ever watched together

[01:17:11] because i was like you've never seen go and so and it stemmed from i quote this quote all the time

[01:17:19] anytime i see him and me out i go it's something from this movie because adam is trying to rearrange

[01:17:27] the trunk to fit ronnie in and it's like it fits like a shoebox and a jack and that is it and he

[01:17:35] keeps just moving them back and forth and that's when it's like it's a miata like it's not gonna

[01:17:41] fit a fucking girl so he's like no you just have to sit with her on your lap while we drive

[01:17:47] and that's the solution but then as they're carrying ronnie to the car she starts coughing

[01:17:53] and they panic and they're like now we have to kill her so he takes the car jack and is like acting

[01:17:59] like he's gonna smash her head and then he thoroughly chickens out which surprise surprise

[01:18:08] and jeez and then i love how he's like okay new plan and they just leave her on the hood of a car

[01:18:17] and set off the alarm oh my god i love that those kids that she sold drugs to are the ones that found

[01:18:25] her they're like oh my god look what happened that kelly or was it done i don't know what i'm like

[01:18:30] oh my god it's kelly and so like adam's still not feeling great they watch her get in like

[01:18:38] put into an ambulance and jack's like girl in the ditch was our problem girl out of the ditch

[01:18:44] not our problem it's fine i'm like yeah the normalization happening between these two

[01:18:52] and then we see claire she's waiting at the car no one ever comes so she eventually walks to the

[01:18:58] diner where they always meet in case they get separated during i guess their nights of debauchery

[01:19:04] and then that's when she sees todd she sits with him and i love how she tells him he's only medium

[01:19:11] damn yeah in what world she's also 17

[01:19:19] i love that we're glassing over that but okay then this is where it bleeds back into simon's story

[01:19:27] they leave the diner they're making out on the stairs and then the cat comes downstairs

[01:19:32] he's like how'd you get out and then that's where we go into the scene where simon needs to get

[01:19:38] shot in the arm to as a penance for shooting the bodyguard or the bouncer and then we see ronna

[01:19:46] wake up in the hospital and i guess immediately leave to go back to work and she's like carrying

[01:19:51] her like cash tray limping and claire is at work too and she's like hey like

[01:19:58] fellow tonight where's mani and they both realize like mani still and then i love how they go

[01:20:05] to find mani and he's still huddled in the alleyway like a little mouse and then you see a very quick

[01:20:13] shot of an alley cat like walk past him and in the credits the cat has a credit

[01:20:21] alley cat is played by princess leah lucky buttons oh my gosh i love that

[01:20:28] you too i also love how they have to go back to the ditch where ronna was punted into

[01:20:37] to find the car keys so that they can drive home ronna let's talk about the fact that ronna is

[01:20:44] walking like one of her legs got popped out of the socket yeah there was definitely some limbage

[01:20:52] happening there i like that when when ronna shows up to work and she's at the cash register and then

[01:20:59] claire is at her cash register and this is the first time they're seeing each other

[01:21:03] she looks at her like bitch what the fuck and ronna's like things didn't go as planned

[01:21:13] and then the closing line of the movie is mani just from the backseat like what are we

[01:21:19] going to do for new years and like then no doubt plays credits and then watch the best movie is to

[01:21:27] watch go first for christmas and then watch 200 cigarettes for new years that i think are the

[01:21:32] two companion movies i'm hell yeah very sure i actually do watch those secondly like every year

[01:21:41] yes that should be the new tradition definitely and that is go we did it yay

[01:21:50] such a good one it's so good a classic while we still have a few little fun tidbits i love that when

[01:21:58] wolf and morr are talking in the supermarket about the cheating girlfriends more says isn't it ironic

[01:22:05] to which wolf replies don't you think which they were quoting a lambsmore set song

[01:22:11] love that i was did not know this but one of the few major differences between august's spec

[01:22:17] script and the final film is that in the original he had intended for ronna to be black so that would

[01:22:25] have been interesting they would have never gotten funding for that because if they were

[01:22:28] struggling because they didn't have a bankable white lead yeah there was no way yeah and

[01:22:35] the letter x or the figure x is a recurring motif in the film malcomax xerxeserces x for x to see

[01:22:44] maria xmas room 66 the x simon draws on his arm and at the end it's revealed that the

[01:22:50] rave was held in what is otherwise a triple x horn emporium okay i looked it up

[01:22:57] john august is not black oh but he seems to be a little well versed yeah he brings up a lot of

[01:23:04] black a lot of black things which is interesting but he also wrote the movie's big fish corpse

[01:23:12] bride tine a e the charlie's angels 2000 movie wow so there's quite a few bangers he partners with

[01:23:21] tim Burton on occasion frank and weenie yeah big fish frank and weenie and corpse bride those are all

[01:23:28] yeah his movies so awesome okay john stop using the n word i don't care yeah well we could have

[01:23:35] done without that like it wasn't necessary apparently sex is repeatedly a bad omen in the movie

[01:23:43] and ronna and todd talk about sex as a metaphor for betrayal in all their scenes

[01:23:47] i don't give my best friend's head simon is having sex when the hotel room catches on fire

[01:23:52] zack and adam talk about how they both cheated on each other with jimmy and getting their

[01:23:56] revenge on him before running over ronna todd and claire on the stairs before they meet the

[01:24:01] strip club bouncers so it's like a horror movie don't have sex or you'll die yeah yeah
