[00:02:10] Talk Lex trip and jam can't wait to see their favorite band kiss perform in an upcoming

[00:02:15] concert.

[00:02:16] However when jams insane mother finds the tickets to the event she incinerates them.

[00:02:24] I'm just reliving that scene in my head leaving the boys desperate for a way to see the

[00:02:28] show and their attempts to see kiss the lads and germ misunderstandings humiliation

[00:02:34] and violence all just to see their beloved idols.

[00:02:37] It stars Edward for long Sam Huntington Giuseppe Andrews James Debello Lin she Melon

[00:03:00] get into our readings rewind.

[00:03:03] So you know the drill before we get into the movie will reveal the rating our Y2K versions

[00:03:07] of ourselves would give and then at the end we'll see if our current cells agree with

[00:03:12] the initial rating so our scale consists of would buy it would buy it again.

[00:03:17] The best would play unrefeat 5 day rental would watch again 2 day rental okay but nothing

[00:03:25] to write home about and same day rental trash.

[00:03:30] Alright Megan we're gonna start with you what was your Y2K rating I think we already know

[00:03:42] but just for kicks and giggles is that what it's called yeah shits and giggles thank you.

[00:03:52] Yeah would would buy would buy it again I actually did go and rent it

[00:03:59] for a same day rental because I had never seen it before so I actually did go and rent it

[00:04:05] and watch it and after I watched it I'm like oh yeah I want to buy this and watch it

[00:04:13] got it how about you Jackie I owned it on DVD would buy.

[00:04:19] Yeah.

[00:04:20] Same this was this is a stamp of a Jackie and Danielle movie for sure yeah I I own it as well.

[00:04:29] We thrive on the chaos.

[00:04:31] Yeah.

[00:04:32] Typically if there's a lot of stuff going on and people are just running all over the place

[00:04:40] for like oh we like this yeah it was an early sign of our ADHD and we just loved like

[00:04:47] indie TV movies at the time and this definitely hit the mark now this movie had a budget of $17

[00:04:54] million dollars I don't know where that went but oh I could tell you a few of those things for sure

[00:05:03] but it only made $5.8 million worldwide it was a certified cinematic bust but it is a cult

[00:05:12] plastic now.

[00:05:13] It is absolutely and I think it speaks like I believe that every band who's like gotten to a

[00:05:22] really high point should make a movie at the time when Spice World came out I was like this is

[00:05:29] real camp and crazy but now it's like this is cinematic gold you know the Beatles did it

[00:05:39] I don't know why and sink didn't have a movie well kind of two of them did but the back to

[00:05:46] boys Britney Spears like all of them should have had a movie I think that sets you apart and I

[00:05:53] don't mean like as Beyonce trying to be an actor I mean like Destiny's Child should have had a movie.

[00:06:02] Right yeah totally.

[00:06:04] Fair enough yeah all right Jackie let's get into it okay so it opens we are in I'm gonna say a

[00:06:16] Rumbus room because it's the 70s the James mom come to find out she's just got her wine she wants

[00:06:23] to listen to some carpenters there's a rain lamp vibes happening and then so she she pulls

[00:06:32] the vinyl record out of its sleeve puts it on is ready to relax and I stole your love by kiss

[00:06:40] starts playing she spills wine all over herself screeches that it's the devil's music and

[00:06:47] runs on over to get jammed from band practice. I just feel like her reaction I don't know if it's

[00:06:56] because we're so far removed from when this music came out but I'm just like this music is so mellow

[00:07:05] in comparison into the reaction that it got like they had no idea what like metal was like you're

[00:07:15] like death metal these men are drag queens putting on a show like you I'm sorry you can't tell me

[00:07:23] that that's not what they're doing up there those men are drag queens and the platforms they make come on

[00:07:35] come on and I love every second of it and the band case like now I can appreciate how much

[00:07:42] they went against the picture you know a lot of ways they're part of the patriarchy in some ways

[00:07:46] to like how they are with women but right the fact that they were putting on makeup they were

[00:07:53] putting on like what could be deemed again as more a female aesthetic wearing wigs they were

[00:08:02] Jewish guys Italian guy you know like just not the standard Americana rock and roll and they

[00:08:10] were no Neil diamond no they were not Neil diamond but like but also in the same breath they were

[00:08:21] not they I don't look at that and say Satan worshippers they were putting on a fucking show

[00:08:27] right like they don't know they're not each other star child and star right

[00:08:33] so just her reaction like she's literally tearing up her liver room to try to find the plug

[00:08:42] to because she breaks the little knobby off and then my favorite part is she tries to lick it

[00:08:48] and stick it back on oh my god it's just she she was so extra with all of this like

[00:08:57] and yes from the x-ray yeah not the x-ray is what movie is she in she's in a lot of horror

[00:09:08] movies she's like in cities right yes yeah but she also played magda and there's something about Mary

[00:09:16] oh she oh my gosh she's like overly tan and yes yes yes I haven't seen that movie so long

[00:09:26] same we're gonna have to do that movie Danielle I don't think I'm upset it's not just you are

[00:09:33] I just I have like Ben still I'm from Ben stiller I don't think it's gonna age well at all

[00:09:41] of course yeah anyway yeah Winchay is amazing I I love her to death she's also in one of my other

[00:09:51] favorite horror movies dead end have y'all seen that one I've not it's from 2003 or 4 I believe

[00:10:01] it's very like obscure like Lionsgate release and it she it's she's hilarious she's such a great

[00:10:09] actress in my opinion she's so good and I was noticing that again when I was rewatching Detroit

[00:10:16] I've seen it so many times but every time just like amazed by her acting she's just so great

[00:10:21] even though she's very dramatic but she's very she's just great he plays unhinge very well yes yes exactly

[00:10:32] so I find that the guys practicing or you know what they're banned mystery playing a kiss song

[00:10:41] was so believable because they sounded like shy yeah fair yeah it sounded like they were really

[00:10:51] playing those instruments yes yes and so they're practicing James mom shows up yinks out of the basement

[00:11:03] to take him home and a screaming at him that kiss stands for knights in Satan's service so good

[00:11:11] and so then it's the next morning jam wakes up did his mom chain him to the bed with a workout spring

[00:11:20] I don't know why yeah what that situation was and there's so many parts in this scene that just

[00:11:27] irritate me about him like are you done boy are you done boy like I was just lift up the leg of your

[00:11:35] bed and then you're untethered and you can work on getting it off your foot right and it's okay if

[00:11:41] you missed the phone call you're not gonna die but he is gonna die because they're calling in a

[00:11:46] panic because the the kiss tickets are missing as soon as he got the tick so as soon as he saw

[00:11:53] the tickets he should have hid them or put them in a drawer or something he's dumb he is dumb

[00:12:02] and when his like so his mom busted on him and like he tells his friend he's got the tickets no

[00:12:08] problem oh but then his mom bust in and is yelling at him because he doesn't want to shower I want to

[00:12:17] my favorite line is he said those jeets are so tight I could see your penis

[00:12:23] this mother is so beyond inappropriate so she's like we we got it you have to dress in the

[00:12:29] cuz I bought you and she hands him like this came art box yes and she didn't think what she

[00:12:36] got him was bad no I didn't either it just wasn't his aesthetic yeah a little white linen pants and some

[00:12:47] like very 70s shirt college shirt yeah he's he's he's he's stuck straight out of boogie nights

[00:12:56] and I love that like when he gets off the bus in those clothes that his friends are automatically

[00:13:02] like he call him out as a nerd and stuff like that yeah so the mom hangs the jacket he realizes he

[00:13:11] has the tickets they were in a Jane jacket that belonged to one of the other guys that he

[00:13:17] accidentally took home with them and like you said instead of hiding the tickets he just leaves

[00:13:22] in there and they're like just john tally poking out of the pocket right in full view

[00:13:28] and his mom's ranting about how his clothes aren't clean and the jacket smells like

[00:13:33] bio and probably smells like weed too cuz there was a lot of weed going on in that jam session

[00:13:39] and so jam shows up at school his friends are making fun of him for his outfit

[00:13:47] they're like okay well where are the tickets he's like my mom's doing right there

[00:13:51] it's out of a sock to him for real I know it sound like correct me if I'm wrong his mom stood there

[00:13:58] and watched him get dressed question mark yeah I could look my mom was very like here I bought

[00:14:08] these clothes and I'm like okay she's like change and then I'd be like can I get some privacy

[00:14:14] she's like I've seen it all before her bigot change so I could imagine that happening

[00:14:22] wow now we see jam in one of his classes Melanie linsky plays Beth she's so precious in this movie

[00:14:33] I love her and I love that in every movie she tries so hard to hide her accent and there's always

[00:14:41] just some words that she says that you hear it but she was so sweet in this movie and this is

[00:14:47] too it was her whispering like she couldn't whisper with an American accent no the rest of the movie

[00:14:54] it was fine it was just when she was whispering to him at the beginning in class I was like oh

[00:14:58] there's that little kiwi accent so she's trying to tell him that she's moving but like it seems

[00:15:07] like they're in the middle of a test or some act like they're in study hall so they're not

[00:15:11] supposed to talk so I think that's the problem and then like she's getting ready to tell him like

[00:15:17] hey I'm moving also I dig you and then the principal comes over the last speaker of the entire school

[00:15:24] and it's like we need to get her my into the office and then his mom gets on the PA and starts

[00:15:30] ranting because she has found the tickets I just like as upset as my mom could be about anything

[00:15:38] that I could possibly do I could not imagine her driving to school like she's so mad that she has

[00:15:45] to get me right now it doesn't make any sense but she embarrasses the shit out of him this mom yeah

[00:15:54] like I don't know she works for she works for the Lord yeah she's pushing for Jesus

[00:16:02] she is so he meets her in the principal's office she's like I'm taking you to boarding school

[00:16:08] getting the car right now oh by the way your tickets up and smoke and literally lights them on fire

[00:16:16] and uses the tickets to light a cigarette I just love how the guys are around the

[00:16:22] all around the corner watching like I want a scene is so intense like they're all watching and then

[00:16:28] it's playing like this intense like classical some classical song like while it's happening I remember

[00:16:37] watching that like I don't even know how there was like eight I don't know when this movie came out

[00:16:42] I was like like that was like my first feeling like when I'm watching a movie where I was like oh

[00:16:48] like that that feeling in the pit of your it when you like you know wow just like she just

[00:16:56] she does something to stop being a villain she is the villain yes yeah the worst I don't understand

[00:17:02] how the guys didn't run to go try to like put those tickets out yeah and I was also thinking like

[00:17:08] did they not get like receipts or something like can't they just go back to the ticket office and say hey

[00:17:13] we bought these tickets but I guess not the 70s maybe not I don't know how things work back then

[00:17:19] but I just don't understand how like those tickets are just credit card receipts yeah like yeah

[00:17:25] where it was handwritten it wasn't whatever like I bought it again in the first place that's what

[00:17:32] I want to know did they did they specify that how do they get the tickets no and the first place

[00:17:37] I think they just yeah I think they bought the legit legitimately so I that's why I'm like

[00:17:43] where's your seat or like go and get like the little end so that you can take them to the box office

[00:17:49] and be like look they're burnt but we have to get you know like something to try and prove

[00:17:56] yep there are I guess there would be no plot of the movie

[00:17:59] yeah so yeah Jeremiah's with stuff by his mom to immediately go to boarding school that day

[00:18:10] yeah she's had enough of his satanic way and then Elvis catches them in the hallway yes

[00:18:20] that guy is a predator and real creepy yes thank you for saying that because

[00:18:27] we're like hitting on the girls at the table at one point yeah gross so gross yes

[00:18:35] so Elvis is chasing them they hide out in the girls bathroom and then we get

[00:18:40] the very popular 90s trope of girls taking a shit I can't believe they do that yeah

[00:18:48] yeah that scene was awesome I do love how like when they see Elvis they don't even panic at first

[00:18:56] are like second floor bathroom girls bathroom like they just right what they have to do

[00:19:02] he's like the idiot but what is it the is it filth from Harry Potter same vibes same vibes

[00:19:09] yeah so let me see jams in the car with his mom she's yelling at him

[00:19:19] about how he and his friends smoke the dope yes yes and so they're driving to the boarding

[00:19:30] school now and she's smoking like a million cigarettes and has them all over

[00:19:35] that's where the amount of smoking in this movie yeah concerning but also like

[00:19:44] this is how it was in the 70s I would never if like I went back and time traveled I would never be

[00:19:50] able to make it I'd be like oh y'all are gonna die

[00:19:54] hi I'm here from she a strike future it's a back-over form initiative now is for eternity

[00:20:06] so now the boys are back in shop class they've reg up in antenna they're trying to listen to

[00:20:13] their radio station which happens to be giving away kiss tickets so they create this diversion

[00:20:22] for trip to get out of class and so he's like asking to go to the bathroom and

[00:20:28] and the teacher's like no but no and so then trip has like a balsa range shoved down his pants

[00:20:36] and he's just pretending like he's peeing himself and then the teachers like you're

[00:20:41] disgusting like sir you told him that he couldn't go to the bathroom but had it been a true

[00:20:45] emergency he had every right to piss his pants because you right you know what is that with the

[00:20:52] American school system because I don't think they do that in other countries they're so afraid

[00:20:57] they can go like in a skip and stuff that they like don't let you go to the bathroom but it's so

[00:21:04] bad for like your bladder health I just think it's like a control thing it is yeah a lot of it is

[00:21:11] but and you kind of well as a former teacher you kind of know the kids that are flight risks like

[00:21:19] they're just running around in the bathroom just yeah avoid work but then there are other things

[00:21:26] you can do to work on that yeah just then not let them go to the bathroom yeah like they have no

[00:21:32] autonomy whatsoever yeah like you just make them go at times intervals or like make them go during

[00:21:41] recess or something where like they don't want to go to the bathroom because they want to go and play

[00:21:45] you just right don't make it a fun thing to go to the bathroom anyway that's my day I tribe on

[00:21:51] appropriate redirection in classroom bathrooms so trip goes to the payphone in the school hall

[00:21:59] and he calls in he wins the tickets everyone super stoked I just want to know why out of all

[00:22:07] them they sent the idiot yeah tell me how that made sense yeah I don't know I guess maybe he

[00:22:14] was the only one willing to fake piss his pants to get out of class I don't know yeah so yeah

[00:22:22] they they win they win the tickets and then they realize well we got to go get Jeremiah from

[00:22:29] the boarding school so they all sneak out and they still Lex's mom's car yes yeah and this is

[00:22:40] see Elvis being creepy to the girls but then he has to chase after the kids but it's like a 30-year-old

[00:22:47] slightly overweight security guard versus three skinny teens like right never gonna catch him

[00:22:55] never gonna win that so now they have Lex's mom's car and they're on the way to the boarding school

[00:23:04] to get jam and so they've devised this plan did they order them I guess no the the priests order

[00:23:14] the pizza so they like cut off the pizza guy and say it they must have like paid him and then

[00:23:21] they pretend to be the deliverman and I guess they like spiked it with a bunch of weed or something

[00:23:26] mushrooms mushrooms and so the weird priest guy who I just remember him as the dad from Freaks and Geeks

[00:23:34] oh my gosh yes he he gets high as fuck but he gets high so fast like almost yeah which of like

[00:23:44] those must be some strong streams or he's a lightweight yeah it usually takes about 10 to 30

[00:23:51] minutes to kick in and I'm like wow those are some really powerful mushrooms so they're able to

[00:23:58] break out their friend and head on the road with pizza they had pizza too after after the priest

[00:24:08] babbles on some crazy nonsense about Satan and Santa being the same guy which is one of my favorite

[00:24:13] clothes ever he's like it's the same letters it's the same freaking guy it's the same guy like he

[00:24:21] has like this realization that Santa and Satan are the same guys I quote that all the time

[00:24:27] yeah that's great so now they're heading out on the highway making my way downtown no

[00:24:35] yeah I would love an overlay where it's just a thousand miles over like whatever whatever

[00:24:43] Kissong they're listening to in the car be hilarious so yeah they're they're driving but they are

[00:24:52] so the guys are now driving to destroy because they want tickets they need to go to the radio station

[00:24:58] pick that pick up the tickets and then they can go to the concert and they're just bullshitting

[00:25:03] in the car we find out that Hawk has stage fright which is why they haven't performed any songs

[00:25:10] intuition is correct because y'all not good no yeah not at all and then all of a sudden they're

[00:25:19] driving and this I think it's a sunflower a Pontiac sunflower oh I have it for you hold on because

[00:25:27] my wrong it's a 1978 Pontiac firebird trans and damn I was so close you were

[00:25:36] I would have still as in the guitos yes and so they there I think that the driver's name is Kenny

[00:25:47] he's been real aggressive he wants he wants the Volvo to get out of the way but is it like only one

[00:25:53] lane I thought there was like two it was just I was like isn't this a major highway like what's

[00:25:58] happening here you can make mention that it's only one lane in either direction and they're like

[00:26:04] we can't even get out of his way right he can go around us and so the guys are just being an asshole

[00:26:11] and so they throw up pizza out the window and it lands on their windshield to now Kenny is

[00:26:18] even more pissed he's like trying to essentially drive him off the road get him to pull over they

[00:26:25] finally pull over after he like bumps their car with his several times and poor Lex is like

[00:26:32] the paint it's my mom's car yeah yeah I'm gonna beat his ass 100% and so then they like pull

[00:26:44] off out of the car and rub his face so aggressively on the pizza on the windshield

[00:26:52] and then for the rest of the scene he just has like pizza cheese

[00:26:55] second is it so grossed me yeah so yeah so Christine was not happy with Kenny's

[00:27:05] antics she gets out she starts walking and then the other girl in the cart does she have a name

[00:27:11] I don't know it is oh no what's her name oh I got it it's Barbara Barbara there we go

[00:27:20] yeah the other Stella yeah she is mouthing off to the guys as well Kenny pulls out the a track that

[00:27:29] they were listening to of all their kiss music throws in the road it gets run over they're arguing

[00:27:35] and then Hawk is it Hawk needs him in the nuts yet like I never understood why the four of these

[00:27:46] idiots didn't take these guys on like why did they even let him wipe his face on the pizza in the

[00:27:54] first place there's four of you right and the girls don't look like they trying to get down and

[00:27:59] fight like the Alabama brawl so I don't know yeah and so but I mean the the kiss guys they get

[00:28:13] revenge and I love how like Hawk pulls his belt out of his pant loops like trip it pulls his wallet

[00:28:23] chain out like they're in gem has his drumsticks it's just like what y'all really try to do get out of here

[00:28:32] all of a sudden they're this little gang yeah but they kick the guido's asses

[00:28:39] we love it and strap them to the guardrail and they use Barbara's makeup to make them look like his

[00:28:49] so that's the extra extra bonus on top right and then they take a rock and

[00:28:57] crash the car so even if they do get out their cars fucked up I mean like it's a lot

[00:29:05] me right and then they cry at each other saying oh it got fag makeup on me i got fag makeup on me

[00:29:13] they're both like crying looking at each other and she's just like oh I hate y'all yeah

[00:29:20] yeah the the amount of times they use the f word in this movie is like

[00:29:25] excessive yes while both the word fuck and the the the other f word so yeah it's just like

[00:29:33] but it's very true to how homophobic it was yeah yeah yeah for sure and so

[00:29:43] the boys continue on their way and they see Christine walking down the shoulder of their own

[00:29:50] and so they offer her a ride to disco and fernel i always wonder like

[00:29:58] if I was in the 70s would I have been like Natasha Leon as like Estella or would I be more of like

[00:30:07] a rock and roll like stoner type if I was in the 70s because I love disco and I love

[00:30:14] rock and roll so i'm like hmm I wonder what type of person I would have been

[00:30:20] I would 100% be into the disco

[00:30:26] yeah 40th birthday was 70s disco inspired yes nice and in high school I actually was quite

[00:30:34] obsessed with the 70s like yeah to tell me nothing about my mom's like why don't you like the 80s

[00:30:41] that's the decade you were born I was just like no I love 70s music but then like in my 20s I became

[00:30:48] obsessed with 80s music and yeah so i don't know but wherever the black people were that's where

[00:30:56] I was going to be and they weren't disco they weren't right at a kiss show so Christine is kind of

[00:31:04] like talking shit with the guys trying to give it back as much as they're giving it to her but she's

[00:31:09] also getting a contact high which she gives into and take a couple of hits and then immediately

[00:31:16] passes out she's had an eventful day we have we have one of the most iconic quotes though

[00:31:23] well a couple of them in the car they're whenever Lex says your clothes may say disco but your

[00:31:30] eyes they rock and roll and then what else does she say why don't you bend over you're looking

[00:31:37] right at it and they're like what that made no sense at all whatsoever I just I love notatelier

[00:31:45] and so much she's so good and Jean Simmons like hand picked her for the role like he was like it's

[00:31:52] gotta be her she's like the best for this role which is so awesome it's even more awesome that he

[00:31:59] picked her personally I wonder if it's because she reminds him of the real Christine whoever he made

[00:32:05] that song about probably that's so that's interesting yeah because the two girls in the movie

[00:32:13] Beth james love interest playing the mini lensky is also named after a kiss song Beth

[00:32:21] so they they finally roll up to Detroit and they get a prime primo parking spot at the radio station

[00:32:27] and they go upstairs super excited ready to pick up their tickets and the guy at the DJ the DJ is like

[00:32:36] yeah y'all did y'all didn't give us your information so we gave it to the next caller

[00:32:41] and he has to like rewind it like actually pull the the thing yeah and when they get back into

[00:32:50] the elevator the rest of the guys are like ready to they're literally beating us because he just

[00:32:58] yells yes and just hangs up before actually giving his name and stuff so now they have no kiss

[00:33:07] have y'all ever won concert tickets on the radio before I haven't I have quite a few times

[00:33:17] one food fighter tickets green day walk the moon and she and him when they toured for the holidays

[00:33:28] damn that is amazing you have good luck green day yeah in the green day concert was so amazing

[00:33:38] it was like and my co-workers kind of knew at a point like if I it I was a teacher and I'm like hey

[00:33:45] I need y'all to cover for me because I'm sitting in the car waiting to give them my info because

[00:33:49] I am not like trip and I know it'll be like 10-15 minutes and I'm here but I can't come in yet

[00:34:00] but yeah most of the time it's trivia stuff but yeah that's so cool and working from home now I don't

[00:34:09] listen to morning radio so I don't ever have those opportunities anymore to take it

[00:34:16] I always just assume that like I'm not gonna win so I never even like try to call in but

[00:34:22] that would be really cool to win. Hey I'm Blake and I'm Dave and we're the co-host of first

[00:34:29] prize films it's a comedy podcast where we take two films of the same genre separated by at least

[00:34:34] a decade and battle them to the death metaphorically nope literally so if you want to hear two

[00:34:40] tickets talk about genre movies and hopefully give you a couple laughs then search first prize films

[00:34:44] on your favorite podcast platform or find us on social media at first prize pod we also stream

[00:34:49] every week on twitch swing by chat movies and tell us how fucking dumb we are because we're pretty dumb

[00:34:55] see ya bye ya

[00:35:00] so yeah the the guys are distraught they walk out of their radio station and the Volvo is no longer

[00:35:06] there so their car has been stolen with Christine sleeping still in it

[00:35:12] they have no one seems to be concerned about her at all. No they don't they think she stole it yes

[00:35:19] yeah and so they're just like kind of down and out trying to figure out how we're gonna

[00:35:28] get these tickets more and then there's a huge protest or kiss and guess who's leading the

[00:35:38] charge with the bullhorn jams mom so she has traveled to Detroit the dangerous city right to go

[00:35:46] and protest the nights of Satan and so James mothers against the music of kiss nights and Satan

[00:35:54] service also i want to point out that her like the part the girl the the mom that's like to the

[00:36:03] I guess left of her with like a brunette woman is Paul Stanley was Paul Stanley's wife

[00:36:09] and in real time during filming so she was one of the mothers against kiss so that's pretty

[00:36:17] interesting yeah yeah her daughter was also she had a role in the movie and had a like seen with

[00:36:23] Eddie for a long but it got cut alright mind you mind you this movie uncut was three hours long so

[00:36:30] they had to apparently cut a lot but then so I guess Paul talked about it in him with his book

[00:36:37] and he was pretty pissed let me read it exactly I think I did read that yeah so in his book no regrets

[00:36:46] ace frayley states oh sorry it's actually ace not okay aces daughter he states that his daughter

[00:36:55] Monique had a scene in the movie with Edward for long however when she saw the movie and discovered

[00:37:02] that the scene was cut she was very devastated ace said that ever since then he never looked at

[00:37:08] jean simmons who was executives producer of the movie the same way again and I'm just kind of like

[00:37:15] there's so much stuff that can fit in a movie like right put it in the the bonus features like

[00:37:23] schnapper die right so I'm sorry what is going into this three hour movie because I feel like

[00:37:34] this was just enough oh I know I know I don't know a lot going on already I can't imagine

[00:37:43] another hour and a half yeah but I haven't watched my DVD in a while so I I don't even know what

[00:37:50] bonus clips but they released it on blu-ray not too long ago so I wonder if there's some of that

[00:37:56] stuff in there you need it how come you've been gotten it yet I don't know that's one thing that like

[00:38:03] I just start that's my newest like obsession right now is collecting blu-ray I never I

[00:38:11] I never really had an interest in blu-ray until recently and really it's always just been

[00:38:17] VHS and DVDs so I have so many doubles of like the DVDs and the VHS but now I'm like oh I want

[00:38:24] blu-rays I don't know I don't know why but yeah so I'm just now starting to collect like all my

[00:38:30] favorites on blu-ray as well yeah so now the guys have they have a goal in mind they are

[00:38:37] going to split up and each of them has to try to figure out how to get tickets and then come

[00:38:42] and meet back and then they'll figure out about the car and everything else so jam is pulled into

[00:38:51] a church by his mom so he doesn't even get to try and find a way to get tickets no because he

[00:38:57] is forced to confess his sins immediately and the way the mom reacts to this priest like kissing

[00:39:04] up on his hand she looked like she about to suck his dick in the confessional okay like 100%

[00:39:10] ready to clown with the priest yeah when she's so good y'all like oh my gosh she's she's so

[00:39:18] believable she's so good and the priest is a horny little bastard too yeah because he wants

[00:39:27] jam's confession to be dirty and he's like I really don't I just wanted to go to a concert with my

[00:39:32] friends and right he literally leaves him and the confession was like get your shit together

[00:39:38] find me a dirty story okay right but enter a dirty story

[00:39:45] uh Beth is across the street eating dinner with her family they are on the drive to their new house

[00:39:52] and she sees jam and she's like I just want to go say goodbye so her parents letter go say goodbye

[00:39:58] she gets in the confessional with him tells him that she's had a crush on him for forever and then

[00:40:02] they bone in the confessional yeah apparently that confessional was like the size of an airport

[00:40:12] I mean airplane bathroom it was really tight and it took them like about three days to film

[00:40:20] I was so jealous of her as a young viewer I was so I so jam was my jam when I was little like

[00:40:30] when I was younger I was like oh he was like one of my first crushes when I was in this movie

[00:40:37] or the movie the jungle that you first fell in love with him it was this movie okay this was like

[00:40:43] the first movie where that I think Sam Huntington that I realized I had a huge crush on Sam Huntington

[00:40:48] but as I got older it was Edward Furlund's character who did it for me and not Sam like I was just

[00:40:56] like wait what how does this even this is kind of weird but even trip was like more like I was like

[00:41:03] oh okay what's happening because I was like older I was like there I'm more attracted to them but

[00:41:10] when I was younger it was Sam so that's that's what's funny did you know that Jonathan Taylor Thomas

[00:41:15] was also supposed to play jam I could see it but also glad he wasn't in it same I can't see it

[00:41:23] I cannot see him in that role like he's kind of like the wholesome it feels like yes I can see him

[00:41:31] as like the sheltered boy you know lynched shea's son sheltered boy but not like the rebellious

[00:41:39] teen going to a kiss concert like I just can't see it well even he was in an episode of Veronica

[00:41:45] Mars so Sam Huntington was also on Veronica Mars but in oh wow and like he plays an FBI agent posing

[00:41:53] as a student and he's supposed to be like all hard and big and bad and stuff I'm like I don't

[00:41:58] believe you Jonathan it would have been I would have been a good stretch like I could see him wanting to

[00:42:04] take it because it would have been outside of his like teen idol thing but I think they got the best

[00:42:14] and so so which guy are we following next so we did well so the end of James whole thing because

[00:42:21] these stories are intertwined but we'll do one guy to try so the end of James arc is he like

[00:42:29] stands up to his mom he goes back out he confronts her he's like where the fuck are my drumsticks

[00:42:35] I'm going to this concert by the way I just lost my virginity

[00:42:41] in the confessional and what does he say I wrote it down because it was so good just speech is so good

[00:42:48] well during the scene though I will say the mom looked a little repent like she looked a little sad

[00:42:56] because he was like instead of trying to like parent me and talk to me you're just shipping me off

[00:43:02] and you know yeah you're a terrible mother you're you're just a terrible mother

[00:43:07] and yeah and she looked really like you could see tears kind of welling up in her eyes again A-plus

[00:43:14] acting from lunche yes what was it Jackie he said I just lost my virginity in a confessional booth

[00:43:22] lord have mercy yeah give me back my fucking drumsticks she had broken one of them he's like that's

[00:43:32] the yeah he's like cute and Beth does say that she'll call him so like they'll she's going in

[00:43:41] arbor and she got him a shirt that said mystery on it which was super cute yeah they're bands

[00:43:47] so long distance relationship I mean they're still in the same state I think she went to Ann Arbor

[00:43:53] in the strip club yes please let's talk about that whole scenario this is so uncomfortable okay

[00:44:01] so you know hog runs into a scalper and he's like it's $75 for tickets and hawks like I don't

[00:44:08] have that money and the scalper plays Aaron and bring it on stop yes stop are you kidding yeah oh my gosh

[00:44:19] how did I miss that after seeing this a hundred times how did I not that's crazy the one who says

[00:44:25] shake your wee wee yes yes yes because he's like oh I don't have enough money for this he's like well

[00:44:32] they're doing a show where they go shake your wee wee over there and the prize money is $100

[00:44:37] I was sure that says that I can make you a shirt that says shake your wee wee

[00:44:46] hawks in and he's like yeah I can do this and then he's sitting at the bar he's like registered

[00:44:52] or whatever and the bartender well he has a fake idea that looks nothing like him nothing

[00:44:59] and so he goes in the bartender gives him a whiskey on the rocks and it's very can't hardly

[00:45:06] wait where he's like this is turned it's bad everywhere and he goes it's gone bad

[00:45:14] so he but he continues to drink it afterwards and so he when it's his turn to get on stage and mind

[00:45:21] you remember he said he had stage fright before right but now he's got that liquid courage he gets

[00:45:27] up on stage starts to perform to my boogie shoes and then immediately he starts violently vomiting

[00:45:35] into a pitcher which is like apparently I guess they made other people on set nauseous like seeing

[00:45:44] the scene even though it was and it was a hose on the side of his face so it wasn't him throwing up but

[00:45:54] yeah it was gross yeah it was really gross and he does it and then he's like okay I'm

[00:46:00] gonna get back up here and dance to kiss and it is the most white boy dance ever yes

[00:46:07] and then he like gets completely under us to his boxers he's gyrating and thrusting around

[00:46:15] and then he hasn't taken his shoes off so he's like trying to get his pants off but his shoes are

[00:46:20] on a stumbling around all the meanwhile there is this beautiful blonde lady like probably

[00:46:28] late 30s early 40s sitting at the bar just ogling him he is a high school student

[00:46:35] yeah you guys I didn't notice this the first time around and like wow like I was I don't know

[00:46:45] if it would if it had been a guy in this situation with like a girl from high school I would have

[00:46:51] been like whoa but like everyone like growing up I was just like everyone's like oh cool like he's

[00:46:57] getting this chick he's getting this like hot you know and like now when I watch it I'm like oh this

[00:47:02] is so crann she's giving him money she's giving like oh it's so bad I know I know I know it's

[00:47:10] supposed to be like a male fantasy kind of situation but it's just an old lady and he is in high

[00:47:19] schools right and she recognizes that he's young it's not like she doesn't know because he's in

[00:47:26] there with a fake guy and stuff like she knows I just feel like if she had a lot of money could we

[00:47:32] have not like could you not wind and die me could I not have been taken to a hotel at least we got to

[00:47:38] do it in your humming top dumb car yeah all this kid was thinking was kiss tickets he didn't care

[00:47:47] what was happening oh my god so she says she doesn't want him to have whiskey dick but then

[00:47:53] he comes too fast it's just like a lot it was so bad but at the end he's like I don't want to

[00:48:00] harnish this experience by taking money from you and she's like how not for the sex just spend it

[00:48:06] on whatever you need the money for look how she's groomed him he was not taking the money straight

[00:48:13] groomer and of course this role is played by Jean Simmons wife at the time I think they divorced

[00:48:23] do they divorce are they still together what was her name I thought I wrote it down but I didn't

[00:48:29] I think I think they're divorced but oh I mean Shannon Tweed Shannon Tweed that's right yeah wow yeah

[00:48:38] that's that's wild okay let's go into trips which is crutch it crazy whole another reason

[00:48:51] doctor love oh they're still married sorry they're still they are yeah wow yep well good for them

[00:49:02] so trips idea he runs into the same shaker wee wee scalper and so he's like I need 75 bucks so

[00:49:11] he goes in to a convenience store first he costs two little kids that are just playing with the

[00:49:17] stretch arm strong outside the store steals their stretch arm strong doll makes them cry

[00:49:24] and then he goes in and he's trying to figure out what he's gonna do to get this money

[00:49:28] he sees a kid full kiss makeup playing the kiss pinball machine which was

[00:49:35] loaned by a local kiss enthusiast for this scene and he's like gonna mug this child

[00:49:44] for his tickets he's not the brightest so can't be surprised but he really did bark up the wrong

[00:49:52] fucking tree because this kid is not to be played with because he what's his brother's name though

[00:49:57] because it all led to a series of events I know in their favor but yeah

[00:50:03] sure chongo chongo that man was a beast apparently that was Adam Murphy's nickname too or something

[00:50:13] oh really I think so yeah like that was like his nickname and like maybe maybe that is his

[00:50:20] nickname or then that's why they use that name or something that's hilarious yeah chongo

[00:50:26] so the kiss the kid calls chongo over chongo ruffs up trip and so trips like okay well I need

[00:50:38] another way to earn the money and so he sticks the stretch arm strong on strong doll in his pocket

[00:50:46] and it's gonna pretend like it's a gun and rob the place and there's this really cute high school

[00:50:52] blonde can be a counter clerk at the counter and as he's walking up to like hold her up

[00:51:01] to get the money another guy with a fucking shotgun yeah walks up and it's like holding up the place

[00:51:09] now kiss the floor but I do like that he has a moment where his friends are like

[00:51:17] the his conscience before the guy comes with the gun but to say like you really shouldn't do this

[00:51:24] yeah which I think is sweet then right you know they're the voices in his head

[00:51:30] and so he knows he's stupid he like tries to hold up the robber or prevent the robber from robbing

[00:51:40] the convenience store and then the robber kind of calls his bluff and then all of a sudden they're

[00:51:46] fighting over like one hand they each have a hand on the shotgun and each have a hand on the

[00:51:51] stretch arm strong and they're stretching it and he lets go smacks the robber who let's go of his gun

[00:51:58] and so he's able to save the convenience store from being robbed and he the clerk jumps over the

[00:52:08] counter and like thanks him and this is where we get the who are you and he has a mask on

[00:52:16] he's like doctor love oh my god she also like oh the guy that the robber how he gets knocked out

[00:52:28] how hard did he get hit by this toy that he's not the fuck out like cold out cold

[00:52:38] and then when the cops come she's like doctor love left him like

[00:52:45] she gave him a reward money so he has like 150 bucks or something like that

[00:52:51] so I don't know so convoluted crazy but sounds about right

[00:52:57] Chong go finds him in the alley and beats him up and steals his wallet

[00:53:04] and then he's like laying there and he's like well at least he's still got my stretch arm strong

[00:53:10] and then the kids come by and take it back so he should never stole from those poor children

[00:53:17] they didn't do nothing wrong they didn't

[00:53:20] for you and now we have Lex's story

[00:53:25] and he's just he sinks in the back like where the rhodis are right pretending to be a rhodi but

[00:53:31] security sees him and it's a whole mess of chase scenes somehow he slides down an escalator

[00:53:40] I don't know how he didn't how did he not hit his junk on those little circle things as he was

[00:53:49] sliding down because that's what I was thinking about what he was doing it but then like he hits

[00:53:58] he lands on a girl all of these other girls pile on top of him and by the time the security

[00:54:03] guards get him somehow he is on a ledge above everyone this man does he have superpowers maybe I

[00:54:12] think so okay but then like more chasing and stuff eventually he's thrown back out into the alley

[00:54:20] and there's like junkyard dogs just hanging out in the alley

[00:54:24] and then he's he's walking and he sees like sparks flying from this building well hold on he

[00:54:36] first of all he's trying to negotiate with these fucking dogs they're like rutwilers and whatnot

[00:54:41] and it's very scary and then a how dog comes out of nowhere with a frisbee and so when he throws

[00:54:51] the frisbee they all go and chase it and then he's safe I want to know the time in between doing that

[00:54:57] and when he goes into the garage how he has trained these dogs now to do what he wants

[00:55:02] that's right so like he does see some light in in the crack like Jackie was saying but

[00:55:09] that's when he realizes that that's his car and these guys have stolen it and he sees Christine

[00:55:16] but I just want that was my main question like how you got these dogs trained in like five

[00:55:22] seconds and then your alpha oh is that what it is he probably fed him some like dumpster food or

[00:55:30] something and they we can't yeah he goes in he's like a knight in shining armor he confronts the guys

[00:55:41] and he's like you're gonna let her go and he essentially six the dogs on the guys they run into

[00:55:48] their office he lowers the car down Christine is so grateful because he picks the lock of the hand

[00:55:55] cuffs with but wait who are the who are the bad guys one of the guys was in slum of

[00:56:03] yes he was so far with Natasha in slums of Beverly Hills right yeah Kevin Korgens

[00:56:11] and that's right Steve sorry shrub rippa shrub I think he was on sopranos oh okay so yeah

[00:56:23] and I think he was also the dad and I hate that I know this of the secrets of an American teenager show

[00:56:29] that was on ABC the worst fucking TV show ever made oh gosh yeah so yeah I had to go back and see

[00:56:45] for myself about the scalper because I'm just like mind blowing wow that's hilarious

[00:56:54] I thought we had done all his movies at this point like I because we did legally blonde and we

[00:57:00] did bring it on already so I this was a surprise what about what about boys and girls oh yeah he's

[00:57:10] in that one we haven't done that one yet I don't know if I've seen that does that have Freddie

[00:57:15] Prince Jr. yes I have seen that okay I'm clear for Lonnie and Jason biggs yeah interesting

[00:57:23] and a random cameo of Monica playing a role the same I was reading I was I saw on like I am TV or

[00:57:31] something that Jason biggs had a cameo in this movie but I didn't see him I it was like it literally

[00:57:40] had the timestamp too is like 15 minutes and that he was in like a blue sweatshirt or something but I

[00:57:47] didn't I didn't try to go back and see it but I'm like now I kind of want to yeah that's interesting

[00:57:57] so Lexus and I didn't shine in armor like I said and so Christine of course starts making out with him

[00:58:05] right this that's logical right and so she's like he's like you're promised a ride to disco and

[00:58:13] for now yeah my hero yeah I'm just like my hero

[00:58:23] so now all four boys meet in a very deserted in the middle of a street I like how they're just

[00:58:30] all on each corner and they're like looking at just just seen in general this is hilarious amazing

[00:58:39] and they realize nobody got fucking ticket they got close and then of course the only solution

[00:58:50] to beat each other up and say someone stole their tickets so they they look like they're having

[00:58:56] so much fun in the scene where they beat each other to this and so

[00:59:02] we need for the cast of Incherman to show up so they walk up to the gates of the concert venue

[00:59:16] and explain they were mugged the ticket takers are like not really believing them but then

[00:59:24] trip spots Chongo inside and he's like it's him right there

[00:59:30] and and Chongo's like I've never seen these people before in my life blah blah blah and he's

[00:59:36] like he has my wallet with my kiss army I photo ID in it and my $150 or whatever yeah

[00:59:45] and so apparently security at a concert venue has he at the wordy to like the distance arrest

[00:59:52] and search patrons the right yeah but they find out that Chongo does have his wallet with his photo

[01:00:00] ID and so they throw Chongo and his group out give them the ticket steps and they get to go

[01:00:10] to a kiss concert and so literally the best ending to a movie ever like it's so good and so like

[01:00:19] you're just like yes I wish I was them right now and their faces they just like when they're

[01:00:25] walking in like slow motion like trip has got like the like biggest cheese smile like

[01:00:35] like a little kid walking into Disneyland and then all the rest of them are just like what just

[01:00:39] happen because they have no idea who those people were or like had to wallet or anything

[01:00:46] and they're just like walking in and they just start running like I'm just like oh I wish

[01:00:50] I was them it's like gotta be the best feeling ever I love that trip repeats with the little kid

[01:00:56] said to him when he was bullying him yes also the the band re-enacted this 1970s air concert with

[01:01:09] over 3,000 fans for the movie this movie was filmed in Toronto so good job to the Toronto fans

[01:01:18] getting to get getting to see them re-enact this I think they did a like a reunion tour previously

[01:01:27] to the when this movie came out so yeah so those guys were actually getting to see kiss live so I

[01:01:35] think some of the faces that they're making are legit yeah totally and then and then Jan finally

[01:01:44] gets his other drumstick drum the drummer yes and the song that is playing during the concert montage

[01:01:54] is Detroit Rock City of course the culmination of the movie and the boys are super happy because

[01:02:00] they got to seek a kiss and that is Detroit Rock City oh let's go through some of the fun

[01:02:12] facts that we kind of skimmed over missed could you imagine Edward for long as trip

[01:02:20] in this movie because he auditioned for that role right yeah he auditioned but I think

[01:02:28] what's the guy's name James I think James did a really good job and also he looks like a completely

[01:02:35] different person without that long wig I was like oh I'll like it it's kind of like when I saw

[01:02:41] Orlando blue for the first time without the blonde hair I was like right yeah James DiBello

[01:02:49] and guess if they are in cabin fever together right right yes I love that movie I haven't seen it

[01:02:58] in a long time and then Natasha and Melanie are also in but I'm a true love cheerleader

[01:03:07] and they did another movie in the two like 20 something with Jason Britter her husband Melanie's

[01:03:16] husband and Clia DeVal because they're all like besties well Clia and Melanie are like best friends

[01:03:24] and we did a post about the three of them and it did so almost like oh okay yeah

[01:03:34] likes this trio very sure Richard link leader was asked to direct this movie if you would tell me

[01:03:41] it was a Richard link leader movie I would have 100% believed you it has that for sure do it

[01:03:49] um the film takes place in 1978 kisses a live two-tour hit Detroit on January 21st and 23rd of

[01:03:57] that year so the film crew did consider editing the film down from an R rating down to a PG 13 but

[01:04:07] then they thought it would have been disastrous and I think it was the best but maybe they

[01:04:13] wouldn't know how they would have done that like on screen there's no way yeah there were too many

[01:04:19] tips out in one scene for sure on the highway Christine makes a remark about the possibility of

[01:04:27] kiss producing a disco song and the boys laugh it off but in real life kiss did release a hit disco

[01:04:33] song I was made for loving you in 1979 I was made for loving you baby I've seen why him yes oh my gosh

[01:04:45] that's like one of our go-to Christmas movies every year now it's got James Franco

[01:04:53] a shitty boyfriend that the girl brings home to meet her parents for the first time or rather

[01:04:59] they come to his house and kisses also in that movie as well and there's a bunch of kiss

[01:05:07] song music through yes it's so good it's so funny the other movie with a lot of kiss music is

[01:05:13] role models oh yes that's another one yes we're little kids just rocking out to love gun

[01:05:20] and all the guys he's like de-ronnie the gunnest is dead I love that movie so much

[01:05:29] the words fuck fucking or fucker are said 83 times in this movie heck yeah heads rated R

[01:05:38] not to keep 13 right much of the memory be all you used in the film is from Jean Simmons personal

[01:05:45] collection and this was the first film to be released on DVD before VHS so it was like the first

[01:05:53] movie of the coming of the shift yes to strictly DVD so each member the band mystery mirrors a

[01:06:01] member of kiss they even get together with girls appropriate to their counterparts so Hawk is

[01:06:07] like Paul Stanley and gets the supermodel jam is like Peter Chris and gets Beth named after his solo

[01:06:14] song trip is like ace freely is that how you say his last name sure I'm not sure and gets

[01:06:22] and gets the spacey girl Lex is like Jean Simmonins and gets Christine named after one of his

[01:06:28] trademark songs so I thought that was kind of cool I think we're good yeah so before we get into

[01:06:38] the ratings Megan why don't you tell everybody where they can find you again on social and also remember

[01:06:44] to check out Megan's trailer episode and go back to season two and listen to her join us for the

[01:06:53] new guy which was also a lot of fun if you have a listen yeah I also noticed while doing this that

[01:06:59] there are a couple like similarities between Detroit Rock City and the new guy one of them being like

[01:07:07] the bathroom scene yes girls have the bathroom scene but then also like there's a

[01:07:13] bathroom scene that's kind of similar in the new guy and then also isn't there like an intercom

[01:07:18] scene where like he's yes talking to the school over the intercom or something like that I just

[01:07:24] like had like deja vu when we were talking about that I'm like whoa but yeah you can find me on

[01:08:21] I just think it just has the nostalgia and it's just it's fun you know and some of the things that

[01:08:27] didn't age well weren't great but like wasn't enough for me to be like oh god this was like hard
