[00:00:00] This week on the No More Leafy's podcast, we are joined by our good pals Andrew and

[00:00:18] Timmy.

[00:00:19] Welcome.

[00:00:20] Hi.

[00:00:21] Hey there.

[00:00:22] We're excited. This is a dynamic duo for sure. You may remember Andrew from absolute suffering from that.

[00:00:29] Was it come pal?

[00:00:30] Is that what it is?

[00:00:31] I'd try to forget the whole damn thing.

[00:00:37] And Timmy is the other half of our other friend that joined us for Crossroads, Brian.

[00:00:52] So this is going to be fun.

[00:00:55] Brian's more like a fool.

[00:00:57] You know what, Timmy, you're actually my favorite.

[00:01:01] Very good.

[00:01:02] I was going to say that.

[00:01:06] He probably won't listen to him. No Brian, Brian will listen.

[00:01:09] But no, I feel like at the murder mystery party, we bonded quite a bit.

[00:01:14] We had some moments, especially.

[00:01:18] You can't do your mic.

[00:01:19] The big pickaxe.

[00:01:20] You were good at it.

[00:01:23] It was great. It was great. No notes. And if you guys

[00:01:29] are confused, last year I went to Austin and Jackie and I decided that we should do a murder

[00:01:37] mystery party for New Year's Eve and it was a lot of fun. And and Timmy was the strong man.

[00:01:42] And it was a lot of fun. And Timmy was the strong man.

[00:01:45] Is that it?

[00:01:46] That was the New Year's Eve murder mystery, yes.

[00:01:50] But then there was it.

[00:01:52] You know what?

[00:01:53] I'm thinking of another one.

[00:01:54] I'm thinking of a good friend.

[00:01:55] Because I've invited so many murder mystery parties.

[00:01:58] But I did use a big, big accent for yours too.

[00:02:01] I think I was like a German flash Russian flash.

[00:02:05] I don't know what it was.

[00:02:07] It kind of me and through the night and I wasn't mad at it.

[00:02:11] At one point it might have been Irish.

[00:02:13] I think it's awesome that both of you guys really wanted to do our movie this week, which is Spice World.

[00:02:21] I'd like to ask both of you why this movie?

[00:02:29] Is that your girl first? Okay well. I can't say all at once.

[00:02:30] I mean it's pretty simple for me. Spice World came out what year ago?

[00:02:34] 97. 97. So I would have been all of 14 I think.

[00:02:39] So you know if you've got five women who are singing songs and telling you to

[00:02:43] tell you what you want, what you really really want and how to get it. Yeah, 14-year-old me was like I'm very interested

[00:02:50] in what these women are saying and I'm gonna pay attention and I paid attention throughout most

[00:02:55] of their career. Timmy, how about you? So as a baby gig I was, I didn't, I was thinking it was 94 95.

[00:03:07] Since I was 97, I was in 13.

[00:03:10] So approaching teenage years or intern.

[00:03:13] But I don't know, I just love them.

[00:03:15] They're so campy and fun.

[00:03:16] And yeah, it's just the colors, the sparkles, the attitude.

[00:03:22] The music was really catching the passion.

[00:03:25] Yeah, so it's been very interesting fashion.

[00:03:27] We're trying to get a better power.

[00:03:30] Girl power.

[00:03:34] I can't wait for us to get into the movie, but before then, I thought this would be

[00:03:37] a really fun time to just talk about Spice Girls, Spice Girl Trip. Let's do some trivia.

[00:03:43] talk about Spice Girls, Spice Girl Trip, let's do some trivia.

[00:03:46] It feels they're so larger than life.

[00:03:53] And it feels like such a huge time period, but they weren't a ban for a long time.

[00:03:56] It was an era.

[00:03:58] It was.

[00:04:00] So I'm going to do that.

[00:04:02] I'm going to admit the spice, the trivia is hard.

[00:04:06] So Jackie, do you want to do it actually?

[00:04:08] Sure.

[00:04:09] Okay.

[00:04:10] See what I don't know.

[00:04:11] But just guess, just go with your gut.

[00:04:14] Who was the last Spice Girl to join the band?

[00:04:18] With a group, I guess.

[00:04:21] No, I can't.

[00:04:24] Victoria. I just guess. No, I can't. Victoria.

[00:04:26] I just guessed him answer.

[00:04:28] I would think Victoria too.

[00:04:31] Actually, it's Emma.

[00:04:34] Baby Spice.

[00:04:35] I was gonna see that one too first.

[00:04:38] I don't know why I was gonna say her.

[00:04:40] I feel like Mel C and Mel B were the first original.

[00:04:47] I want to say with Mel.

[00:04:49] No, no.

[00:04:50] Jerry, Jerry did come, but she missed the first audition.

[00:04:54] The other two didn't.

[00:04:56] She, she came like, she did.

[00:04:58] She was a part of like the OG, but like.

[00:05:01] They were in like the original auditions and everything like that. Then Victoria, she came and replaced somebody

[00:05:07] that was there before when they're,

[00:05:10] I'm not gonna say their band name,

[00:05:11] their former band name.

[00:05:13] And then baby replaced someone else who went to,

[00:05:16] I think her name was Michelle or something

[00:05:18] to go take care of a sick mom or something.

[00:05:23] So.

[00:05:24] Sure story.

[00:05:25] Baby Spice last.

[00:05:26] What about their Asian friend who was in the movie

[00:05:28] who didn't get to be a Spice Girl?

[00:05:30] Nickelodeon.

[00:05:31] Exactly.

[00:05:33] When was she in the group before she left?

[00:05:36] I love that there is a subset of people

[00:05:39] that think that this is a biography of their life.

[00:05:43] That's a good question.

[00:05:44] That's a good question. So I'm watching this movie last night.

[00:05:49] And I knew all this stuff.

[00:05:51] I'm sorry.

[00:05:52] I'm a very tangential person.

[00:05:53] So hopefully nobody has to get away to do things.

[00:05:58] So that actress was also in an half-bed for a long time.

[00:06:01] Oh, yeah.

[00:06:03] She was in what?

[00:06:04] Absolutely fabulous with Jennifer Saunders who also makes

[00:06:09] a cameo in this film. And our last movie Euro trip. She is, I think it was a cut scene.

[00:06:16] So love that. Love her. Okay. So our next question. What was the B side to wannabe?

[00:06:29] I got no clue on that.

[00:06:33] I will, how about I give you some multiple choice

[00:06:38] for that one, because it is kind of hard.

[00:06:41] Okay.

[00:06:42] Last time lover,

[00:06:51] bumper to bumper or something kind of funny. Something kind of funny. Something kind of funny. You guys are incorrect. It's bumper to bumper.

[00:06:59] I've never even heard of this. What does this have at that?

[00:07:03] My best educated guess would have been to become one.

[00:07:09] I don't even think that was on the same album, was it?

[00:07:11] I guess it was my favorite.

[00:07:13] It was.

[00:07:14] It was.

[00:07:15] It was.

[00:07:16] It was.

[00:07:17] It was.

[00:07:18] It was.

[00:07:19] It was.

[00:07:20] It was.

[00:07:21] It was.

[00:07:22] It was.

[00:07:23] Was that on the album too?

[00:07:24] Bumper to Bumper? Yeah. No. I don't remember. I call this song at all. Wow. Are you sure?

[00:07:26] I listened to that.

[00:07:27] I think we're going to quickly find out.

[00:07:29] I was just looking at them all the time.

[00:07:30] I'm not paying attention at all.

[00:07:32] OK.

[00:07:33] OK.

[00:07:35] Who contributed to the union jack part of the iconic union

[00:07:39] jack dress?

[00:07:41] I've been just by the time.

[00:07:43] Go ahead, Timmy. So yes, I saw a video of Jerry Halliwell on Instagram

[00:07:49] when he was explaining how it happened. And of course, I was probably like three or four

[00:07:54] into a cocktail or something. But she explained that that original dress was made out of an

[00:08:00] actual union jack. And I can't remember exactly why, but they, yeah, they had to make it out of one.

[00:08:10] I thought it was a tea towel.

[00:08:12] It is. It might have been.

[00:08:13] Was it a tea towel?

[00:08:14] Yeah, it might have been.

[00:08:17] Yeah, she is a Gucci dress under underneath

[00:08:21] and she took, she didn't want to cut a flag.

[00:08:24] So she took a tea towel and then she

[00:08:28] used car paint to spray paint her red boots. But when she left the band, she, I don't know if she

[00:08:36] got rid of that dress but pretty much all of her Spice Girls wardrobe she gave away including her

[00:08:42] car but her husband, her now husband bought it for her again, because she had missed the car.

[00:08:47] But yeah, so most of the hair clothes she gave away.

[00:08:53] I saw a lot of seem to be excess.

[00:08:54] But I thought I read something in the news.

[00:08:56] Oh, maybe I don't know.

[00:08:58] I thought I read something about cheating in her, but.

[00:09:01] She better stay with him.

[00:09:02] Being with him made her the richest Spice Girl.

[00:09:05] I don't think she was a cheater. I think he was a cheater.

[00:09:08] That's what I'm saying. She better stay with him.

[00:09:12] She could I keep him.

[00:09:14] Yeah, no ginger. There's some stuff going on with her.

[00:09:16] Yeah.

[00:09:16] She's the richest Spice Girl.

[00:09:18] Right now with her husband because he's like the F1 Red Bull owner.

[00:09:23] And between them two, they even make,

[00:09:27] they even have a higher net worth than the Beckhams, which is surprising.

[00:09:31] Apparently, he's been caught in some sort of sexting probe with a female college.

[00:09:36] She'll get over it.

[00:09:38] Legally, electrically.

[00:09:40] Yeah. So I think, go ahead to me.

[00:09:44] Oh, no, no go ahead to me. No, I was going to say I think that separately though Victoria has a higher net worth than

[00:09:54] Jerry then Melcy then Baby and then Mel B.

[00:10:01] Mel B is the lowest?

[00:10:04] You know what I peeped there.

[00:10:05] But no, she just she spoke about how financially she was it?

[00:10:11] Like how important financial literacy was and really it was

[00:10:15] just it had to do with her divorce kind of like put that on

[00:10:18] Front Street because she has to pay spousal support.

[00:10:22] And then I think he wanted like $40,000 a month and she's like, I can't, I can't afford

[00:10:27] that. So, and I don't think she diversified her portfolio like the other girls. Like obviously

[00:10:34] Melcy had a better solo career, ginger has written books and all sorts of other things.

[00:10:40] Victoria has her fashion empire. Still surprising because she's the one you see the most.

[00:10:45] Yeah, yeah.

[00:10:46] You see her the most out everywhere.

[00:10:48] Makes sense why she was on the circle.

[00:10:50] Yeah.

[00:10:51] Oh, that's right.

[00:10:52] Well, both she and Emma,

[00:10:54] well, on the circle, right?

[00:10:55] I mean,

[00:10:56] Precious.

[00:10:57] They were so good.

[00:10:58] So good.

[00:10:59] So good.

[00:11:00] I didn't finish watching.

[00:11:01] Like, I couldn't get through,

[00:11:03] I think the second or which season were they in the third

[00:11:06] Halfway through the third one has started getting really racist and I was like I'm not going to go through this

[00:11:11] So I didn't even get to watch their season the fourth season

[00:11:17] Even if you just watch their episodes they are so cute together and they just look like they're having the best time being there

[00:11:24] so cute together and they just look like they're having the best time being there.

[00:11:31] I was like, can we just get this as a reality show like am I now we living together?

[00:11:39] I love that like I know they fought and they and I love how like candid they are about the fact that they fought a lot but I love that they've all been able to like apologize and come back together

[00:11:47] each time. And I know Andrew and I were talking about how they reunited Andrew. They did all come

[00:11:55] for the Olympics. It was a world tour that was. Okay. That's what it was. It's not even like a diva situation as much as like she gets anxiety really bad with touring,

[00:12:08] like singing live.

[00:12:10] Yeah, it's.

[00:12:11] So stresses her out and the other girls are like, we get it and hopefully we can do one

[00:12:15] thing that she'll be okay with doing.

[00:12:17] Honestly, that's probably less of a big deal, I feel like.

[00:12:21] Yeah, they used to turn off her mic back in a day before ginger less.

[00:12:27] She did, you know?

[00:12:29] Well, it was like they were so young when the Spice Girls

[00:12:33] formed.

[00:12:33] Emma was 20.

[00:12:36] They said when they were filming this, Jerry turned 25.

[00:12:39] I think the month that it came out in theaters,

[00:12:42] like they were all early 20s. I mean, you're still learning

[00:12:47] who you are. I'm sure fights and disagreements happen and stuff. So it's just a testament to

[00:12:53] like their friendship and how they've matured that they can kind of put things aside.

[00:12:59] And they had such different personalities. Melcy and her memoir, she talks about how

[00:13:01] such different personalities. Melcy and her memoir, she talks about how both Ginger and Melby,

[00:13:08] because I refuse, I know her name's Gary Spice,

[00:13:10] but I find it extremely racist.

[00:13:12] So that's a whole nother story.

[00:13:14] But they had the biggest personalities.

[00:13:17] And Melcy said that Melby bullied her for a long time.

[00:13:21] And they were able to talk through that or whatever. But she

[00:13:26] also said it's because she was very quiet. She grew up in a quiet household. And I think

[00:13:31] once Victoria told her she'd, if she didn't shut the fuck up that she would guillotine

[00:13:38] her or something. And she's like, I was quiet after that. Wow. I have a quick fact check the bumper to bumper song that was

[00:13:51] not on the original album. I knew it was amazing. It was one of the ones that you'll be there to

[00:13:56] become one love thing last time lover mama who do you think you are something kind of funny

[00:14:02] naked and if you can't dance. I knew I never heard of a song called,

[00:14:05] but I'm not gonna be.

[00:14:06] We'll have to talk.

[00:14:07] We'll talk to BuzzFeed about it if they're still like this day.

[00:14:11] That's why they're not existing.

[00:14:12] Factoring before.

[00:14:13] I know.

[00:14:14] Like, I can't believe that they crashed and burned.

[00:14:18] But they're still around, but they just got rid of, I think, the news part.

[00:14:22] And they just fired, like like a bunch of their people.

[00:14:25] They just do listicles now.

[00:14:27] Yeah, it's so click, baby.

[00:14:29] I don't know.

[00:14:30] I can't believe they got a I for them.

[00:14:31] I'm a people.

[00:14:35] Which country did Spice Girls perform their first live full concert?

[00:14:40] I feel like this is a weird one.

[00:14:44] Wasn't it like Croatia or something?

[00:14:46] I mean, not the Croatia spirit, but like a not one you think of.

[00:14:52] I want to say us.

[00:14:56] I'll give you guys options.

[00:14:58] Oh, no, it's both wrong.

[00:15:00] London, London, the United States or Istanbul.

[00:15:04] London's not a country.

[00:15:08] England is a turkey.

[00:15:11] Stick with us.

[00:15:13] It is it's Turkey and some bull. Yeah.

[00:15:17] Again, BuzzFeed with the wonderful situation.

[00:15:20] I'm not trust them now.

[00:15:29] I'm not questioning you Daniel. Oh, I'm not offended. I didn't write this. Exactly. Please send all grievances to

[00:15:37] us. What day was Spice World? The movie released in the UK in 1998?

[00:15:46] So it's like a holiday. And so I'm going to give you guys options because

[00:15:52] I think I might know this one.

[00:15:53] All right. Go ahead. Give options.

[00:15:56] Let me see if I could find it. Hold on.

[00:16:00] Because I'll put it out there before you list the options.

[00:16:02] It was Boxing Day.

[00:16:04] You're correct. It was Christmas was Boxing Day. You're correct.

[00:16:05] It was Christmas Boxing Day or New Year's Day.

[00:16:07] Sorry.

[00:16:08] Okay.

[00:16:09] I would have probably picked that too with those options.

[00:16:11] Yeah.

[00:16:12] What was supposed to be a double ace Viva forever?

[00:16:16] So that was from the second album, Spice World.

[00:16:21] Was it the Pepsi song?

[00:16:27] Yeah, exactly.

[00:16:31] No, it's not. It's stop.

[00:16:36] Somebody with a unit.

[00:16:43] Okay.

[00:16:44] What was the third album called?

[00:16:49] Rubber.

[00:16:50] Yes.

[00:16:51] It wasn't forever done.

[00:16:56] What?

[00:16:57] Yes.

[00:16:58] Sadly.

[00:17:02] Which Spice Girls Child's Christening was the catalyst for the return of the Spice Girls?

[00:17:08] I think it was Emma.

[00:17:12] Go with that? Sure.

[00:17:16] It was actually Jerry Hollowell's daughter, Blue Bell Madonna, Hallowell. Blue Bell, that's a big one.

[00:17:25] And Posh and Emma are their babies' godparents.

[00:17:31] I don't think Mel C was there or Mel B.

[00:17:36] I remember seeing him like, hello, back to me.

[00:17:39] Emma was there for sure.

[00:17:41] And then Posh, you said was there?

[00:17:44] Yeah, maybe Mel. I think it was just the three of them

[00:17:47] because then afterwards, I think they went to lunch and they

[00:17:49] talked about reunited again, reuniting again. So I think the

[00:17:53] males weren't there. And I think that's what the rumors

[00:17:57] recently at 50th birthday, where we saw like some of them

[00:18:02] there. Not all of them. That sparked rumors that they were gonna go on tour again.

[00:18:07] So, you know, the infamous rumor of the Backstreet Boys

[00:18:12] and the Spice Girls going on tour.

[00:18:15] I feel like I've heard that one forever.

[00:18:17] What? Both of them, wow.

[00:18:19] Okay, that's crazy.

[00:18:20] But I don't think it's ever gonna happen.

[00:18:22] Like an urban, yeah, it's like an open legends.

[00:18:25] I mean, we've been in, you know, the Northeast getting like new kids on the block and boys to men on tour and all these things for like the last few years.

[00:18:33] Yeah, kids, if you like a band, just wait.

[00:18:37] Unless, unless you're Beyonce fan, you, there's no winning. The Spice Girls were originally called what?

[00:18:53] A pre-cocona. I have a list of choices. It comes to mind, it's like girls allowed,

[00:18:57] but that's another fan. This one I did not pull from Buzzfeed, I'm just gonna give you the answer because it was how I didn't

[00:19:05] know this it's touch was what they would the first version I guess and then it was an interview

[00:19:13] with a magazine that I can't remember at the time that actually gave them their nicknames

[00:19:22] so they didn't come up with their names.

[00:19:25] So they just literally were themselves and then this magazine was like,

[00:19:28] you should be like scary and baby.

[00:19:31] You're all sporty. Wow.

[00:19:33] Yeah.

[00:19:34] And I love how Melcy says, oh,

[00:19:38] maybe I came off scary because I'm a Northern and I'm loud or they called her loud,

[00:19:43] I think in the article.

[00:19:44] So just. Yeah. that doesn't feel good.

[00:19:47] Doesn't none of those names, like you're sporting.

[00:19:50] I wonder what that means.

[00:19:51] I think the only one that I think fits is Posh.

[00:19:59] Yeah.

[00:19:59] The baby does too.

[00:20:01] And she really played into that in the film, obviously.

[00:20:03] And clearly, you know, ginger had red in with that in the film obviously. And clearly I've posh too.

[00:20:05] You know, gingerhead red hair that was just the game

[00:20:07] you do as well.

[00:20:09] They called her cinnamon and just.

[00:20:12] Lemon spice.

[00:20:13] I mean, I know.

[00:20:14] Hi, Anne spice.

[00:20:15] Hi, Anne spice.

[00:20:16] I'm pretty good.

[00:20:18] I'm pretty good.

[00:20:20] Now, yeah, I guess if she's going to be gender,

[00:20:22] I could have used any of those.

[00:20:24] Well, this is a perfect segue into our question for everyone,

[00:20:27] which is what would your Spice Girls name be?

[00:20:32] I'm going with brown sugar.

[00:20:35] So brown spice?

[00:20:38] I'm naming myself and I'm okay.

[00:20:41] I am brown, I'm fine with it.

[00:20:43] Brown sugar spice.

[00:20:44] Yeah. Okay. What was that anger I didn't hear? and I'm okay I am brown I'm fine with it as long as I get spice yeah okay what was

[00:20:48] that anger I didn't hear it oh no I was just repeating her as brown as I'm thinking of mine so

[00:20:53] I what my you know it's me fast let me see yeah I'm thinking of thinking like saucy spice. Oh, I like it.

[00:21:05] It doesn't seem like sassy spice, but Brian's more sassy.

[00:21:10] Yeah, that's correct.

[00:21:15] How about pink Himalayan salt?

[00:21:21] jalapeno salt. That is my favorite kind travel salt. Boogie's ice. There you go.

[00:21:26] Lately, I've been filling my age.

[00:21:28] I'm thinking I'm just going to go with old spice.

[00:21:30] It's my.

[00:21:32] I just put it back.

[00:21:34] I know when's this wrong.

[00:21:36] Yeah.

[00:21:38] Yeah.

[00:21:40] I think that's a good idea.

[00:21:42] I'm just going to go with old spice.

[00:21:44] I'm just going to go with sleepy spice on account of the narcolepsy but also I could do like

[00:21:59] a trivia spice or a smartie spice I guess. Or maybe chamomile too. Ooh chamomile.

[00:22:06] It feels like we're naming smurfs.

[00:22:08] I think that is like that could be a stripper's name.

[00:22:13] Not then against strippers but like next to the stage chamomile.

[00:22:18] Mmm wow.

[00:22:19] Get your pillows ready chamomiles about to have stage.

[00:22:23] Look at chamomileels pillows. Great.

[00:22:26] True story at one point.

[00:22:28] I wanted to name one of my daughters' middle names.

[00:22:31] Thank God.

[00:22:33] And then I thought to myself, yeah, 20 years from now,

[00:22:36] all everyone's going to hear is coming to the stage.

[00:22:39] When was this going to be good when she was a child?

[00:22:43] None of it is good. That's why it's a middle name. So no this going to be good when she was a child? None of it is good.

[00:22:46] That's why it's a middle name. So no one has to say it. You never have to put on a job application.

[00:22:50] You just know it's there. But no, no. I have a wife that tells you no. I think I came to

[00:22:59] the conclusion on my own. I didn't tell my wife. It was a fight I wasn't going to win, but I just, no, no, this is a bad idea.

[00:23:06] I'm just throwing her at the pole.

[00:23:08] She's one of God's strongest soldiers, I tell you.

[00:23:14] So as you all know, Danielle and I used to work at Blockbuster.

[00:23:18] And as Blockbuster employees, we got to recommend movies.

[00:23:22] And so it is time for y'all to recommend three movies

[00:23:26] from 95 to 2005 as honorary employees.

[00:23:31] I'm a 2005, oh my God.

[00:23:36] Does my indoors fall within that time?

[00:23:38] That might be too early.

[00:23:39] Yeah, it is.

[00:23:40] It's in there.

[00:23:41] It's in there that would be one.

[00:23:43] The mask.

[00:23:44] It's 94, but it's fine. It's fine.

[00:23:49] Clueless. English patient for me.

[00:23:55] The Matrix falls in there somewhere. Yeah. Awesome powers. The first one.

[00:24:00] Yeah. What about that? I think it sounds good. Yep.

[00:24:03] Yeah, we'll go that. I think it sounds good. Yep.
