Whether you were a fan back in the day or are finally watching it for the first time, this episode is guaranteed to bring back the feels (and of course a few cringe moments). So, grab your helmet and pads, and let's get soul skating! Starring: Erik von Detten, Sam Horrigan, Christina Vidal, Robin Riker Geoffrey Blake and David Graf

[00:00:13] This week on the No More Late Fees podcast, we are joined by our pod pals from I Finally

[00:00:18] Watched, Alon and David. Welcome! Hey, thanks for having us.

[00:00:26] Yeah, we're finally excited to get you guys on. We had so much fun when you guys invited us on,

[00:00:32] so we appreciate that. I think we were still vibing with the same kind of thread here.

[00:00:39] Oh yeah, I didn't even like make the connection of that.

[00:00:46] You popped Jackie's cherry with Point Break, aka the original Fast and the Furious. We wanted to

[00:00:52] give our audience a chance to get to know you guys and your pod, so why don't you guys tell

[00:00:58] everybody about your podcast? Well, we're called I Finally Watched,

[00:01:02] and you can listen to us pretty much anywhere you listen to podcasts. We're just a couple guys who

[00:01:08] talk about movies that either one of us or both of us have somehow missed during life,

[00:01:15] that we think they're movies that we should have watched and are trying to make up for the fact

[00:01:22] that we're missing some real cinema gems out there. One of the points we try and do is we

[00:01:27] try and find movies where he has seen it and I haven't or vice versa, just because, for example,

[00:01:34] we recently did Bloodsport and Alain did his best to try not to shit all over it when it's

[00:01:38] one of my favorite movies. I think that has a lot to do with when you see it-

[00:01:42] The nostalgia.

[00:01:44] Yeah, which I think Brink is kind of a perfect example of too, depending on how much you might

[00:01:48] like it if you saw it as a kid or not. 100%. That nostalgia accounts for a lot

[00:01:55] when you're rewatching movies, but I think that's why I love your podcast is just hearing you guys

[00:02:01] riff. I think the very first time I listened, and I think I said this in our group chat,

[00:02:07] I was like, sometimes it sounds like you guys are seriously arguing with each other,

[00:02:13] but it's really fun banter, the way that you guys play off of each other. It's always a fun lesson.

[00:02:20] Well, the movies that we review, they're sensitive, so we try to be harder on each other than them.

[00:02:28] Have you guys seen the movie Kung Pao?

[00:02:34] I tried. My wife saw it and she was like, oh man, you're gonna love this. This is right up your

[00:02:42] alley. And I was watching it and I was like, I could see why you would think this would be up my

[00:02:49] alley. But it's kind of annoying. It was very rough. We had both never seen it and oh boy,

[00:03:01] and one of our good friends came on and made us watch it. Have you ever seen it, David?

[00:03:06] What was the one you and I we watched when we lived in Atlanta? Was that Kung Fu Hustle?

[00:03:12] Or do we start Kung Pao and we're like, I think we started Kung Pao and you're like,

[00:03:15] this is garbage. And I was like, I agree.

[00:03:18] I think we quit because I was thinking about it the other day because one of my friends

[00:03:22] used to say a line all the time. He said, it's where the lady throws out the baby. She's like,

[00:03:28] so cute or something like that. He used to just say to himself and we started watching Kung Pao

[00:03:33] and I think she says that line. And then I was like, why do I not remember anything else about

[00:03:37] that movie? And I think it's because we quit 10 minutes in. I wish I could have quit 10 minutes in.

[00:03:46] Yeah, it's just it's such a weird plethora of like, just editing choices and just like,

[00:03:53] like the whole thing is an editing choice. Right? But it's, it's like those abridged or like funny

[00:04:01] edits from YouTube before even that was a thing. Yeah. So yeah.

[00:04:07] Well, how did you guys did you guys watch D comms growing up? Was that something that you did? Or

[00:04:15] did you have a favorite one? David's an old man. So this probably like skipped his generation,

[00:04:20] but I did. I watched it like, like it was a premiere. Like, you know, when the kids got on

[00:04:27] the screen and they did their little jump and stuff and they were like, next week, Johnny tsunami

[00:04:35] or like that. I was like, I was like, shit, Saturday night, 7pm. I'm here on the couch

[00:04:42] watching the Johnny tsunami premiere. And that's how I pretty much was until I don't know, whenever

[00:04:50] three years ago.

[00:04:55] Yeah, damn. No, no, no. Like, I think the last one I ever watched was something called like

[00:05:00] Tiger Cruise or something like that. Yeah. You remember Tiger Cruise?

[00:05:04] Hayden Panettiere. Yeah, yeah.

[00:05:06] That was the last one I grew out of it. Like shortly after that, I was like, I'm done with

[00:05:10] this. And and from then on, I still have like my bulk, like nostalgia favorites. But then anything

[00:05:17] after Tiger Cruise, I don't even know.

[00:05:19] And David, nothing like did you watch it at all?

[00:05:23] So my little brother was Disney and I was Nickelodeon.

[00:05:26] Gotcha.

[00:05:28] So yeah, I like when Brinkwood be on I was like, this movie's stupid. Why are you watching this?

[00:05:34] Yeah, Alon's thing about like giving up on Disney movies reminds me of like,

[00:05:37] I watched wrestling as a kid. I just remember one night I was watching it.

[00:05:41] I was like, 11 or 12. And I was just like, what am I doing with my life? And I just turned it off.

[00:05:47] And I walked out to my like, my parents was like, I think I'm done.

[00:05:51] Like, I think I'm out. And I never watched it again.

[00:05:54] Yeah. So what's the DECOM game?

[00:05:57] Okay, so this game might be really hard for you guys, because you're not diehard DECOM fans.

[00:06:03] But it'll be fun to watch the struggle. And I'm totally down for that.

[00:06:08] So a lot of celebrities started off in DECOMs, as we know, but there's a few people who kind

[00:06:14] of just had smaller minor roles that you probably may not even remember.

[00:06:18] So it's DECOM challenge before they were stars.

[00:06:21] So we're going to give you a picture of the star, the name of the star,

[00:06:25] and you guys do your best to just throw out a DECOM you think that they were in.

[00:06:30] If you can remember, I say if you can get two right out of all these, you've done your job.

[00:06:36] You've done better than I expected.

[00:06:38] I'll get one if any of them were in Johnny Tsunami.

[00:06:43] All right, Jackie, ready?

[00:06:45] Full screen. Give me one second.

[00:06:54] It's raining like crazy over here.

[00:06:56] Oh, is it?

[00:06:57] Yeah.

[00:06:57] I have some Yahoo riding his motorcycle up and down my street.

[00:07:03] And I'm hoping the mic doesn't pick it up.

[00:07:05] Okay.

[00:07:06] I don't hear it.

[00:07:07] Okay, good.

[00:07:08] Maybe he'll fall off.

[00:07:11] Danielle's going to go outside and throw sticks.

[00:07:14] I'm going to throw gravel on the floor.

[00:07:19] Like Val did.

[00:07:20] Oh, shit. That's Brie Larson.

[00:07:23] Okay.

[00:07:24] Good job. You passed the first.

[00:07:28] Our first before they were stars is Brie Larson.

[00:07:32] Do you know what movie?

[00:07:33] What DCOM this is?

[00:07:36] Obviously, the room.

[00:07:38] Yes, exactly.

[00:07:39] It's called Room.

[00:07:42] I meant the Tommy Wiseau movie.

[00:07:46] This movie was about two sisters or racing something.

[00:07:52] I don't know the girl from seventh heaven.

[00:07:53] Beverly Mitchell is in it.

[00:07:55] Okay.

[00:07:55] That's all I know.

[00:07:57] Okay, so two sisters.

[00:07:58] It's racing.

[00:07:59] DCOMs like to do puns.

[00:08:01] Oh my God.

[00:08:02] Okay, so.

[00:08:02] They do.

[00:08:03] And this one is definitely a pun.

[00:08:07] It's like car racing.

[00:08:09] I think.

[00:08:09] Yeah.

[00:08:10] It's not like downhill race.

[00:08:15] They're about to do the vert in this car.

[00:08:19] All right, David, what's your guess?

[00:08:23] The number two is in it.

[00:08:25] Is the number two in it?

[00:08:27] No.

[00:08:28] Like top gear or.

[00:08:31] No, that's a show.

[00:08:34] That's a reality show.

[00:08:36] Sister.

[00:08:39] Sister in lane three.

[00:08:41] I love it.

[00:08:42] Love it.

[00:08:43] That's good.

[00:08:44] It is right on track.

[00:08:46] Right on track.

[00:08:47] Ever heard of that?

[00:08:49] Neither.

[00:08:50] Bree does not look impressed.

[00:08:51] No, she does not.

[00:08:55] I wouldn't be either, Bree Larson.

[00:08:56] I wouldn't be either.

[00:08:58] Our next one is Jared Padalecki.

[00:09:01] This one's hard.

[00:09:02] Is that the girl from the OC?

[00:09:03] It is.

[00:09:04] Misha Barton.

[00:09:05] That's I deserve half a point.

[00:09:07] You do.

[00:09:09] Well, this is like around Gilmore Girls time.

[00:09:12] He looks about the same age.

[00:09:14] I think he was a little younger.

[00:09:15] I think it was before Gilmore Girls.

[00:09:17] Can we get a what is this one about?

[00:09:20] You know what?

[00:09:21] Tell you the truth.

[00:09:21] I have no idea.

[00:09:23] This one I haven't seen.

[00:09:25] But Ryan Merriman, Mr. Disney Channel himself was in it.

[00:09:30] And the cover him and Misha are swimming.

[00:09:33] I don't know what.

[00:09:34] Oh, oh, shoot.

[00:09:37] Is it?

[00:09:37] Is it?

[00:09:38] No, it's not.

[00:09:39] It's not the it's not the mermaid one.

[00:09:41] It's not 13th year.

[00:09:43] Well, if it's a swimming one, maybe it's like Sister in Lane three.

[00:09:48] Jackie showed showed him what it was.

[00:09:50] A ring of endless life.

[00:09:52] I've heard of this one, actually.

[00:09:54] Yeah.

[00:09:54] OK, ring of endless life.

[00:09:57] Never would have.

[00:09:57] I'm sure it.

[00:09:58] Yeah.

[00:09:59] America Ferrera.

[00:10:01] Wow.

[00:10:02] Now this movie is about a bunch of cheerleaders.

[00:10:04] Si se puede.

[00:10:06] Si se puede.

[00:10:08] What's what do they say?

[00:10:10] Yes, I can.

[00:10:11] Yeah, I think that it's about a bunch of girls at a school.

[00:10:15] And then they have a white saver teacher come in.

[00:10:19] Oh, oh, their cheerleader.

[00:10:21] OK, is it like they're all into hip hop, but then they're turning that energy into something?

[00:10:27] Something like that.

[00:10:28] Yeah, something like that.

[00:10:30] It's like shake your hips or something.

[00:10:32] Bring it on three.

[00:10:35] Got to kick it up.

[00:10:36] Got to kick it up.

[00:10:40] Who's the white savior teacher?

[00:10:42] Is anyone famous?

[00:10:43] I don't know who she is.

[00:10:45] I would maybe I would know it if it was.

[00:10:48] Kat Denning.

[00:10:50] Now this one's an older one, and it's like a spooky one that they would put out during Halloween.

[00:10:56] Well, OK, so it's not don't look under the bed.

[00:11:00] No, because I know don't look under the bed and Kat Denning is not in it.

[00:11:03] Is it my mom's got a date with a vampire?

[00:11:06] No, but that's a good guess.

[00:11:07] It is the scream team.

[00:11:11] Who's the kid?

[00:11:13] Never, never seen him again.

[00:11:14] He doesn't even matter.

[00:11:16] It's irrelevant is what we would call him.

[00:11:22] Finn Wittrock.

[00:11:23] Do you if you're any American horror story fans out there?

[00:11:28] Yeah, I know.

[00:11:28] Finn Wittrock is.

[00:11:30] I know I'm from the big short.

[00:11:31] Now he is in one of the Disney Channel like the movies that had multiple sequels

[00:11:40] and it also came out during spooky time.

[00:11:42] Halloween Town 3.

[00:11:44] Close.

[00:11:45] Howling Town High.

[00:11:47] That is like the closest we've gotten.

[00:11:50] I'm going to give it to you for that one.

[00:11:52] Oh, wow.

[00:11:53] OK, good job, David.

[00:11:55] You're a good Christiansen.

[00:11:57] Oh, that kid in the back looks hella familiar.

[00:12:00] He was on picket fences.

[00:12:01] I remember he looks like a kid from Mighty Ducks.

[00:12:05] He is not.

[00:12:06] OK, never mind.

[00:12:08] The kid, the kid in the middle looks like Ryan Reynolds, but like the age obviously doesn't

[00:12:12] match.

[00:12:13] Kind of.

[00:12:14] Yeah, this is not swim fan was swim fan, not a Disney original.

[00:12:21] Well, OK, can we?

[00:12:21] OK, so there's computers there on computers, which could mean anything in the 90s.

[00:12:26] I think this one was kind of spooky, too.

[00:12:29] Oh, yes.

[00:12:30] I was going to say his computer is like pixel perfect, but I don't think she was in this

[00:12:35] spooky one.

[00:12:37] Oh, oh, I just had a core memory unlock.

[00:12:42] About fucking time, man.

[00:12:45] But I the I can see it, but the name is just blanking on me.

[00:12:49] What is it?

[00:12:50] Can a can of worms?

[00:12:52] I think you can't tell me that does not look like Ryan Reynolds.

[00:12:56] It doesn't do.

[00:12:56] You're insane.

[00:12:57] But like something's off with him, like that's his younger brother.

[00:13:01] Ryan Reynolds.

[00:13:02] It doesn't look like.

[00:13:05] No one.

[00:13:06] You're the only they're too polite to say it.

[00:13:08] You're the only one who thinks that he looks like Ryan Reynolds.

[00:13:10] I'm talking about the alien in the back.

[00:13:13] OK, you know what I love about this, though, is that you spent like two minutes at the

[00:13:17] beginning of this salon saying how much you love Disney movies and you have fucking sucked at this.

[00:13:23] These are weird ones, dude.

[00:13:24] These are.

[00:13:25] Can you get one?

[00:13:27] I'll get one.

[00:13:28] I'll get one.

[00:13:28] I'll get one.

[00:13:29] It's not this one.

[00:13:30] No, it is this one.

[00:13:31] Wait, wait.

[00:13:33] Oh, my God.

[00:13:33] I just recently saw this.

[00:13:34] Why did I recently watch this?

[00:13:36] It's a good question.

[00:13:37] You know, this one.

[00:13:39] I know this one.

[00:13:40] You know it.

[00:13:41] I know this one because is it don't look under the bed.

[00:13:44] It is not, but you know it.

[00:13:49] Look at the guy's hair behind.

[00:13:51] She only made a cameo.

[00:13:53] She wasn't a major.

[00:13:54] Wasn't a main character.

[00:13:55] I know that.

[00:13:56] No musical.

[00:13:58] It is not.

[00:13:59] This is one of the earlier D comms, and a lot of people think the star of this movie was Ryan

[00:14:05] Merriman from Smart House, but it's not the kid just kind of looked like him.

[00:14:12] And he finds out that keep going.

[00:14:17] I can't say too much because this is just going to give it away.

[00:14:20] Yes, you can.

[00:14:21] I have.

[00:14:22] I've seen this recently.

[00:14:23] I pinpointed her, too, with my wife because we watched this and I'm trying to think back

[00:14:28] why we watched it.

[00:14:29] This boy finds out that he may have.

[00:14:33] Yes, some other abilities.

[00:14:36] Guy goes through a world of Alex Mack.

[00:14:40] That's Nickelodeon, Jackie.

[00:14:43] Damn, that was a good show.

[00:14:44] You said it earlier.

[00:14:46] I said it earlier.

[00:14:47] You did.

[00:14:50] I don't remember what I said.

[00:14:52] It has to do with water.

[00:14:54] Oh, it's the 13th year.

[00:14:56] It is.

[00:14:57] It is the 13th year.

[00:14:59] Yeah.

[00:15:00] OK, OK, OK.

[00:15:02] Emmy Rossum.

[00:15:03] Yeah.

[00:15:04] Johnny Tsunami.

[00:15:05] It is not.

[00:15:07] Yeah, I knew it wouldn't be.

[00:15:08] This one is a deep cut, I will say.

[00:15:10] I don't even know.

[00:15:11] As if the others were right.

[00:15:14] As if all the others were just everyone knows.

[00:15:16] Everyone knows.

[00:15:17] I've seen all of these, except this one I don't recall too much.

[00:15:21] So here's the premise.

[00:15:23] Charlie's a child prodigy who's been offered lots of scholarships, but chosen a little known

[00:15:28] one to work with a scientist he admires.

[00:15:31] The work is fascinating, but his social life stinks.

[00:15:34] Trying to get something like a normal life, he also enrolls in a local school and pretends

[00:15:39] to be an average student.

[00:15:41] He's cool for the first time, but attending school and college at the same time is tricky.

[00:15:47] And soon someone is bound to find out that he's very smart.

[00:15:52] He's a smart guy.

[00:15:54] Very close.

[00:15:56] Genius.

[00:15:59] I've seen this one.

[00:16:00] I remember this one.

[00:16:01] Wow.

[00:16:02] I haven't seen this in like 20 years.

[00:16:04] Geez.

[00:16:05] Well, this is the last one.

[00:16:07] I think I know this one.

[00:16:08] Kelly.

[00:16:09] Okay.

[00:16:09] It's Alley Cat.

[00:16:10] Yeah, I'll catch strike.

[00:16:12] Woohoo.

[00:16:13] Finally, the only two I said if you did to you would.

[00:16:19] The only reason I knew it was Alley cats was because right after brink, it was suggesting

[00:16:24] all these other D comms and I was going down the list with my wife.

[00:16:28] And I go, is that Kaylee Coco?

[00:16:31] And we look and then I just remember the name.

[00:16:34] Well, that's good.

[00:16:37] You got to.

[00:16:39] That was the only other one I'd heard of was Alley Cat strike was the only other one I'd

[00:16:43] heard of.

[00:16:45] My brother used to watch it and I would make fun of him and be like, Alley Cat strike.

[00:16:50] Because that's how they would say in the movie.

[00:16:52] David got one and a half.

[00:16:54] Yes.

[00:16:54] Yeah.

[00:16:55] I think I just got a half.

[00:16:56] I was being nice.

[00:16:58] Yeah.

[00:17:01] Well, I appreciate the try.

[00:17:02] You did good though.

[00:17:04] As you know, Jackie and I worked at Blockbuster.

[00:17:07] And so today being on the show, you will be honorary Blockbuster employees and you'll

[00:17:12] get to pick three employee picks from 1995 to 2005.

[00:17:17] So if you can pick three movies you would recommend at our store, what would they be?

[00:17:24] No pressure, but pressure.

[00:17:27] You said 1995 to 2005?

[00:17:29] Yes.

[00:17:31] And if you're not sure to shoot out a movie, Jackie and I will probably know if it's in

[00:17:34] that time frame.

[00:17:35] The Ghost in the Darkness.

[00:17:38] Okay, that's a good one.

[00:17:40] David's.

[00:17:41] Swingers.

[00:17:41] It's also 1996.

[00:17:43] Ocean's 11.

[00:17:45] 13 Ghosts.

[00:17:47] Did you see how they're finally developing a TV show about?

[00:17:51] That's why it was on my brain.

[00:17:53] So yeah.

[00:17:54] When did Jackie Brown come out?

[00:17:56] It's in our time frame.

[00:17:57] It is.

[00:17:58] That'll be a nice list.

[00:17:59] I will say that David, no one at will.

[00:18:03] I think maybe someone pick Ocean's 11, but the other ones have never been picked so far.

[00:18:07] That's awesome.

[00:18:08] I like new movies.

[00:18:10] Okay.

[00:18:11] So when I was younger and I went to Blockbuster, there was always this one movie that is so

[00:18:17] bad.

[00:18:17] It's such a bad movie.

[00:18:18] But when you're little, you just you go back.

[00:18:22] So I used to go back for like two movies all the time, and it was the live action Scooby

[00:18:27] Doo.

[00:18:28] I love the live action Scooby Doo.

[00:18:30] But then there was this movie called Clock Stoppers.

[00:18:33] Oh, it's so bad, but I know what you're talking about.

[00:18:36] It's so bad, but that's my recommendation is Clock Stoppers 2002.

[00:18:41] With Jesse Bradford.

[00:18:43] Yeah.

[00:18:44] I tried watching it the other day and I was like.

[00:18:47] Yeah.

[00:18:47] You know when a movie has French Stewart in it, it's just going to be good.

[00:18:52] That's not true at all.

[00:18:56] Well, if you like the guys recommendations, then make sure you check them out on social

[00:19:02] and check out their podcast.

[00:19:04] Why don't you guys tell everybody where they can find you?

[00:19:06] All right.

[00:19:06] Well, you can find us on I guess it's called X now at finally watched.

[00:19:13] And then our Instagram is at I finally watched and we could not get those to match.

[00:19:19] But that's the difference.

[00:19:20] And it's like 32 followers on Twitter now X that like.

[00:19:25] Pisses me off so bad.

[00:19:26] Just beat us to it.

[00:19:28] I even DM them.

[00:19:29] I was like, I'll pay you.

[00:19:29] I don't care.

[00:19:30] Just give me the thing.

[00:19:31] And you just no reply.

[00:19:33] $20.

[00:19:34] But yeah, no.

[00:19:34] And then you can listen to us anywhere you listen to podcasts.

[00:19:37] We're hosted through Podbean and I think Podbean is a great host, but they're underutilized as

[00:19:44] being a tool to listen to podcasts.

[00:19:46] I think because they're one of the only hosts podcast hosts that have an app on the phone.

[00:19:52] So I highly recommend kind of listening to podcasts through Podbean.

[00:19:57] Did you just do an ad read on someone else's podcast?

[00:20:03] Use code.

[00:20:07] Definitely check them out.

[00:20:08] And as always, you guys can check us out at no more late fees on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter,

[00:20:13] Facebook, YouTube and threads.

[00:20:14] And as always be kind and rewind.
